"CHIAAAAAAAT!" The governor's son lunged towards Evelyn, setting one foot up to then catapult his body into the air, but at the same time, he, the plant tendrils sticking out from the ground and in an instant ambushed his ankles which instantly crept all over his body and wrapped around him.
Bedros Damon screeched restrained and gnawed agitatedly. The speed of this boy.
Evelyn glanced at the witch to see if they had given up.
But it wasn't the governor's son his name if he didn't maintain his sky-high self-esteem. With a slight jolt of heat in his heart feathers from growling, he exerted all his profound energy to sever the tendril of the plant.
Evelyn shook her head thinly and re-installed the horses. Hard-headed, he thought. Then without waiting for his first technique to be broken, he had already put out a second technique-strengthening his poison ivy tendrils and tightening his twists.
The governor's son's face began to look riled up. Didn't expect plant tendrils to be that strong. Can wild grass be like this? thought shock.
We panicked! think Evelyn then channeled more of her light energy into her protective fairy with a slight jolt.
The governor's son jerked his body once more, trying to pull his hand from the winding of Evelyn's protective fairy until his wrist was abrasive.
You fool, Evelyn thought with a faint smile. "My plant's scrub is poisonous!" he tells.
"What?" Bedros Damon screeched in surprise.
The governor's son spontaneously paled.
"Just enough!" sergeant Bedros raised his hand. "Please let us lose."
Evelyn lowered her hand and pulled back her protective fairy.
The governor's son lunged back at Evelyn, unwilling to accept his defeat.
Evelyn simply tilted her head slightly and smiled obliquely.
A second later, the governor's son staggered and slumped. His whole body is numb. Bedros Damon immediately darted to scoop up his body. Then channel a little light energy into the governor's son's back to recover it.
"Don't worry" Evelyn said. "It's just the dragon's poison complainer, not at all deadly." I don't know if he's still stubborn, he added inwardly.
Bedros looked at Evelyn with clasped brows, holding back furiously. Damnit damnit! thought annoyed. Know that I won't budge.
"So.." Xenephon immediately interrupted. "How, Senior?"
"We accept our defeat" Bedros replied with a sullen face. "The Goliath is yours."
Evelyn exchanged glances with her friends and exchanged grins.
The governor's son began to mutter and his teacher immediately pulled his body up and dragged him away.
"Guru—" the governor's son tried to protest.
"That's it!" sergeant Bedros in low murmur. It could be said to be half growling. "We talk about it later after we meet Kephas," he calmed his disciple. Then he turned to Xenephon. "Today's problem, I won't forget it" he told Xenephon. Then glanced at Evelyn through the corner of her eyes. "We'll meet again" he said, posing a threat.
Evelyn did not react. Just glanced back at the witch with a judging look.
"That's it!" sela Arsen Heart's. "Cleons! Hurry on!" he instructed as he rushed towards the dying goliath.
Cleon followed his guardian, followed by Evelyn and the other two girls.
Suddenly the goliath squirmed and ambushed Evelyn's waist.
Arsen Heart and his friends squealed and spontaneously put up the horses.
"Be careful, Eve!" the Goliath warned with language that only Evelyn could understand.
Evelyn immediately raised her hand towards Arsen Heart, hinting them not to attack. Then looked down at the face of the goliath. "Can you talk?" whispered.
The Goliath let out a weak sigh, then lowered Evelyn nearby. "All monster fairies can talk to you," he said. "Whatever the contrary, you can talk to all of us."
Evelyn gulped and frowned.
Everyone stared at Evelyn stammering.
Arsen Heart exchanged glances with Xenephon.
Xenephon only responded with a thin nod.
"Your ancestors are our kings" the goliath told Evelyn.
"While he's gone, his throne is still empty today!" The goliath continued. "So naturally, you are our empress!"
Evelyn's knees were shaky. "You mean Apollo?" whispers lirih. His voice was trembling and stuck in his throat.
"Your great-grandfather, then your grandfather, then your father." The voice of the goliath grew weaker. "They are all great men in the land of the fairies…"
"No!" hiss Evelyn. "Hold on!"
Simultaneously, the guardians and his companions approached and crowded behind him. Stunned to see Evelyn's sad face.
"Are you okay?" Nyx Cornus asked worriedly.
Evelyn blinked and turned to everyone with teary eyes. "I'm okay, ma'am!" said lirih.
Nyx Cornus gulped and exchanged glances with Xenephon.
"That's it, Princess!" The giant gently stroked Evelyn's head.
The guardians behind Evelyn were flabbergasted to see the goliath's tenderness on Evelyn.
What the hell's going on? they wonder in their hearts.
Why do I feel... The giant has an emotional bond with Evelyn? inner Nyx Cornus.
"The strong prey on the weak." whispered the giant with a choked voice. "That is the law of nature! Take care. That old witch is your grandfather's nemesis. One of them had killed your father for the bones of Apollo's chakra," his his hissing grew weaker, more and more choked. And then disappear altogether. Along with that his hand drooped and did not move anymore.
Evelyn bowed with both shoulders hanging limply by her side, then turned and moved away from the giant while the others froze looking at her.
"Cleon!" Xenephon.
Cleon blinked and gulped, glancing at Evelyn with a doubtful look.
Electra pulled one of the daggers tucked in her shoe, then gave it to Cleon.
Cleon still looked doubtful.
But everyone nodded at him giving support.
Cleon took a deep breath, then stabbed the dagger in the goliath's chest.
Evelyn turned her face away while tightly closing her eyes. A tear rolled down his cheek.
Shortly after, a disc-shaped black circle radiated out from the goliath wound the size of a ring that grew increasingly larger as he floated higher and higher, then it settled down circling Cleon who was already preparing in a cross-legged position.
Evelyn rushed away from the place without looking back.
Xenephon and Nyx Cornus followed.
"I'll take care of him" said Arsen Heart. "You continue the search."
Lady Die and Salazar Lotz nodded briefly, then guided Xena and Electra away.
"Eve! You sure you're okay?" Nyx Cornus rushed towards Evelyn and ambushed the girl's shoulder.
Evelyn blinked and turned to him while forcing a smile. "I'm fine, Ma'am!" he said convince Nyx Cornus. My conversation with the goliath should not be known to anyone, he said in his heart. Who else would believe it anyway? Even Nazareth can't believe a monster fairy is talking to me! bitter memories.
"One of them killed your father!"
Those giant words were embedded in his mind.
Anger overpowered Evelyn. Bitterness ambushed him. But along with that, he also felt so alone.
I need someone to talk to, he thought. But certainly not one of his friends or their guardian.
"All monster fairies can talk to you. And vice versa, you can talk to all of us."
The words of the giant returned.
Then Evelyn suddenly shot and scattered at an incredible speed, soaring into the air like a comet.
"EVE!" Nyx Cornus flinched and screamed, one hand outstretched out in empty air.
