The Part 56
After sitting under a maple tree for a long time with Beta, Marco grew bored, and he finally lay down on a pile of leaves.
"You want to try to fight?" ask Beta.
Marco fell silent while thinking about Beta's invitation.
"OKAY. Let's do it" replied Marco.
Both Marco and Beta, then stood up and walked away from the place.
"Don't tell each other what form we each choose!" beta said, then as if hiding in one corner behind Marco's house.
Marco acted the same.
In one of the opposite corners, Marco took off his clothes, and chose the shape of the first animal.
And what became Marco's choice, was to change shape into a large male lion.
With his current form, Marco then walked to the middle of his backyard.
Apparently, Beta chose the same shape.
Faced with each other, both Marco and Beta walked slowly around in circles, while searching for the starting point of their training battle back then.
Without warning, and suddenly, Beta attacked Marco first.
Marco, who was not alert due to Beta's sudden movements, almost got a bite in his lower neck.
Marco jumped up, and stuck his fangs in the top of Beta's neck, then slammed Beta into the ground.
They wrestled, rolled around while biting each other and took out claws from their feet.
The noise of roar and dings for the sake of dings to the ground, completely broke the silence in that place.
The fight seems to still be controlled by Marco, and Beta seems overwhelmed, until several times moving backwards away from Marco.
After several attempts at attacking Marco, and failing to defeat Marco, Beta is finally seen running away.
When he returned, Beta had already turned into an eagle.
Somehow, maybe because of the adrenaline rush, Marco did not realize the change in shape and suddenly, without him needing to change into a human, Marco was flying away chasing Beta with the same shape.
The fight between Beta and Marco is back.
Without slowing the flapping of their wings, while flying high, the two of them chased each other, dodged, and attacked each other.
The fight lasted long enough, and it was all enough to make Marco's breath sting.
Marco partially restrains his form as a human and captures Beta, unable to open his wings to escape.
Marco flew down while holding Beta in his arms, and carried Beta until Marco planted his foot on the ground.
"You can think fast. But that's not the point" Beta said.
"What do you mean?" ask Marco.
"Don't I beat you?" ask Marco.
"Because you're an Alpha! It's certain that you're stronger than me!" beta ketus.
Beta remained with her form as an eagle, walking away to where she had changed shape earlier.
While Marco is confused, still standing in the middle of the backyard, with the shape of half human and half eagle-shaped.
Beta is then seen walking back to Marco, in his human form, and is back in his clothes.
"Indeed it looks great, if you hold your form like this. But, a surrogate Alpha could have killed you, when you brought it down like you took me earlier," Beta said.
"You should have chosen the right animal to defeat and kill him, instead of trying to save him!" continued Beta ketus.
"So you think my choice was wrong?" asked Marco in a cynical tone.
"Yes! So-so wrong!" answer Beta.
"So you already know that animal is the opponent of an eagle?" ask Beta who looks astonished.
"of course. You think I'm that stupid?!" marco replied, tightening his jaw.
"I just don't want to hurt you, because we're just training" Marco continued.
"I'm sorry... I have no intention of underestimating you," Beta said slowly.
"But thanks to you... Apparently, I can spontaneously change shape, without having to go back to being human" Marco said.
"In fact, I was able to change my shape partially, while still in the air.." continued Marco.
Marco then walked away to one corner of the house, where he had put his clothes on, and got dressed again.
As Marco walked back to meet Beta, under the maple tree, Fint and Fent were sitting with Beta.
"Marco! Uh, sorry...! The alpha!" said one of Adaline's older brothers.
"No need to apologize. You can call me by any name, which can make you feel more comfortable" Marco said.
Marco then joined there, even lying under the maple tree.
"Your fight is pretty exciting! I saw him until I could barely blink" said one of Adaline's older brothers.
Marco still can't tell the difference between Fint and Fent.
Apparently, they are identical twins, so their movements are the same.
"You can't fight?" ask Marco.
"could. But, we can only fight ordinary shapeshifters like us, then the fight can be balanced," replied Adaline's brother.
"I've misjudged you.." Beta chirped suddenly.
"Why? What's wrong?" ask Marco.
"I thought that you needed to be taught, to develop your skills. Turns out, you just need the trigger" answered Beta.
"There's no doubt that you're indeed a formidable and reliable Alpha" Beta continued.
"Hmmm... Thanks you! That's a good compliment" said Marco.
"But even if it's just a trigger, someone has to do it for me" Marco continued, stretching his body.
Then they all just fell silent, and enjoyed the cool, fresh breeze, for some time.
"You don't refuse to be my opponent to practice often, do you?" ask Marco.
"Yes. Of course," answered Beta.
"If Gamma and Delta are already here, you can fight the three of us at once. If our strength is combined, it's more or less the same as you against one Alpha" Beta continued.
"It's a good idea" Marco said.
"I have to practice a lot, so it's not like the beginning of the fight. I was almost caught off guard when you attacked my neck" Marco continued.
"Yes, that's true. Maybe because you never fought before...
In fact, I think you may have never fought with anyone before, even if it was only with ordinary humans," Beta said, then lying under the maple tree.
It is true what Beta said.
Let alone physical collisions, Marco never even argued mouth with others, both with ordinary humans, let alone with fellow shapeshifter, whom he had just met a few people.
If Alpha is a substitute, the power is only like Beta, Marco does not intend to underestimate, but it feels, Marco can still overcome the power equivalent to Beta.
Never mind...
That's not possible.
Obviously even though it's only a temporary Alpha, there's no way a replacement Alpha would be that weak.
