First Trial

The next day, Arfan gathers Riani and Larisa in the living room after breakfast. It is clear that the man has decided what the fate of his wife and stepson will be in the future. The two people he originally presented for the sake of Lalita's happiness, but apparently could not fulfill the role well. Now Arfan does not need them anymore, but also can not throw them at will because it will only make Lalita feel more disappointed in him.

"Lalita wouldn't be happy if I did something bad to both of you, but you know the reason why you're in this house, right?" Arfan opened the conversation after being silent for quite a while.

Larisa and Riani both looked down, not answering one bit.

"You are useless and no longer needed here. So, if you still have pride and shame, you know what to do even if I don't ask for anything." Arfan said again. The way the man spoke tended to be calmer than before, but filled with emphasis.

Riani ventured to raise her face and glanced at Arfan for a moment. A cold face and a gaze that was so raining directly he got, making him immediately bow his head back. It was like a slap that made Riani aware if she was never in Arfan's heart.

Both then and now, Riani's position in Arfan's eyes was still a nanny for Lalita. Although her status was the legal wife of the man, but in fact she never really became a wife for Arfan. Arfan only considers himself a useful tool, not a meaningful figure.

"When I get back, it'll be great if you know what to do." Arfan added again as he got up from his seat. The man then passed by leaving Riani and Larisa just like that, still with a cold face.

Previously, Hendro contacted Arfan and told him if that day was the schedule of the divorce trial Lalita and Erick the first. Hendro also told how initially Lalita came to ask him for help to take care of the divorce, until finally Hendro agreed to help Lalita despite the risk of getting anger from Arfan.

Arfan was unable to say any more than to ask Hendro to take care of Lalita's divorce as well and as quickly as possible. After learning how Lalita had been married to Erick all this time, of course Arfan supported Lalita's decision to break away from Erick. In his heart, Arfan was very sorry for forcing Erick to marry his favorite daughter. Giving Lalita to a man like Erick is the biggest mistake of Arfan's life that he can't even forgive himself.

Fortunately, Arfan's subordinate gave a report if Lalita was currently staying at a hotel not so far from her residence. The condition of his daughter also seems quite good, so Arfan can feel a little relieved when he heard it. It seemed, Lalita was much stronger and stout than Arfan had imagined.

After leaving his room, Arfan then left the house to take care of some things. Although he had decided to give Lalita some space for herself first, but it was clear he would not let the princess face everything alone.

Meanwhile, Lalita who initially intended not to attend the hearing, suddenly changed her mind and wanted to come. He felt it would be much better if he came and went through the stages of his divorce with Erick. It was so that she realized that the man would soon become a stranger, not her husband anymore.

Lalita immediately told Hendro that he would come, then get ready. Luckily her pregnancy included no complaints so it did not interfere with her activities at all. A few moments later, Lalita finally left for the Religious Court office. Not waiting for a long time, he arrived at his destination and headed straight to a room that would be the place for mediation between himself and Erick.

"Good morning, everybody. Sorry, I'm a little late." Lalita immediately greeted the people as she entered the room.

Everyone turned their heads towards him, including Erick who had also been present with his law enforcement.

Lalita did not care about Erick's gaze towards her which was so intense. He immediately sat down near Hendro and put on as flat an expression as possible. When the mediator started asking him questions. Every word that came out of Lalita's mouth only led to one conclusion: she wanted to get divorced from Erick as soon as possible.

Although not yet fully understand his feelings for the wife, but his anxiety since Lalita left home became the benchmark for the decision he took at this time. Erick wants to keep his marriage, no matter if the current Lalita is no longer the Lalita he once was.

"What do you mean?" lalita asked as she stared at Erick sharply.

"I don't want a divorce. I know that over the past two years I've made a lot of mistakes, but I promise I'll fix everything" Erick repeated with confidence.

Lalita was shocked to hear Erick's words.

"You're not drunk, are you?" lalita asked in a half-mockery tone. Still fresh in his memory how Erick said that he only loved Larisa. The man also said he would divorce Lalita because he could no longer afford this cursed marriage. Then how can he now say he doesn't want a divorce? It doesn't really make sense!

Erick breathed deeply. It was only natural for Lalita to scoff at him at this moment, given how vehemently she had rejected his wife's presence all along. Erick also realized that the words he said to Larisa that night had indeed been very outrageous. But now he really wants to fix everything.

"I don't want a divorce, Lita. Give me a chance to fix everything. Let's start over again." Erick repeated his sentence.

Lalita was again flabbergasted. This time, he was certain that he was not mishearing.

"Nothing needs to start over. It's all done. If you want to start, start with someone you want to be with. Don't be a plan man" said Lalita then with sarcasm.

Erick was stunned to hear the sentence that Lalita had said just now. Although some time later Lalita consistently showed a hostile attitude, but still Erick felt not accustomed.

"Everything can still be fixed, Lita. As long as you want to give me a chance," Erick said in a soft tone. He knew his words just now sounded so shameless. But she hoped Lalita would change her mind because of it.

"Maybe you think everything can still be fixed, Erick, but I don't think so. My heart, my feelings and my trust, have all been broken. Tell me, how do you want to fix all that? The day you say that our marriage is a cursed one, you should realize that it's the end of it all." Lalita returned sharply.

"And do not show everyone that you are sad about this separation, because you are the one who dreamed so much. Now your dream is almost a reality, so you should be happy. You should have prepared a party to celebrate."
