The Broken Ring's

The Broken Ring's
Leave Everything

"Mama?" A voice broke Riani's daydream, making the middle-aged woman hurriedly wipe her tears, then immediately put the picture frame in her hand into the suitcase.

"What's your mom doing?" Larisa who previously greeted from the doorway, now approached Riani.

"Mama is cleaning up her clothes. Are your clothes cleaned as well?" Riani asked Larisa. As much as possible he hid the sadness he was feeling right now.

Larisa took a moment. He knows that they are no longer needed in this house and must leave immediately. Not today either, right? Doesn't everything have to be prepared first?

"Do we have to go today, Ma?" Again Larisa asked.

"Yes. Faster is better" said Riani.

"If you haven't cleaned up, let Mama take care of your clothes" Riani said again as she got up and left Larisa still stunned.

A moment later, Larisa also regained her senses and soon followed the mother out of the room. She rushed into her own room and immediately found Riani stuffing her clothes into the suitcase as well.

"Ma, I know that we need to get out of here as soon as possible, but it doesn't have to be today, does it? I haven't even had time to find a new place to live for us" Larisa said.

"No need to find a new home. We're going home to our old house" Riani said without stopping what she was doing.

"Our old house?" repeat Larisa.

"Yes." Yeah."

Larisa was stunned for a moment. His memory was immediately focused on the old house that had once been his residence when he was a child. The house where she often witnessed her mother being beaten by her biological father.

"We don't have to go back there, Ma" Larisa said with a slight tremble.

"We'll go back there, Risa. The house is where we come from, our only real treasure" said Riani as she turned to her daughter.

Larisa's gaze turned very sad. He really felt guilty because he had to take Riani through difficulties at the age of his mother was not young anymore like now. If he did not mess things up, the mother would have lived comfortably until the end of her life.

"I'm sorry, Ma. It's all my fault" Larisa muttered then emotionally.

"Because of my greed, Mama must also accept the impact. If I hadn't been tempted to have a relationship with Erick. If I could control my feelings and act more wisely ...."

"No, Risa. Mama should be apologizing." Riani approached her daughter and touched her cheeks gently. "Mama's guilty of you."

Larisa shook her head slowly.

"No, Ma ...."

Riani sighed for a moment.

"For so long, Mama has only focused on Lita and ignored you. Mama let you grow up alone and never reached out to you. Even if you hate Mama now, it's not your fault, Risa ...."

"What's your mama talking about? My mother is the only one I have in this world. How could Mama think that I would hate Mama?" Larisa hugged Riani and could not help but cry.

Riani returned Larisa's embrace and gently rubbed her daughter's back. I don't know when was the last time she did that, because ever since she set foot in Arfan's residence, only Lalita was the place to pour out all the affection. At first, all that she did was to return the favor, but over time, she enjoyed the role of her mother Lalita and really loved her husband's daughter, even more than she loved her own daughter.

"Prepare, after that we go immediately," said Riani then while breaking her embrace.

Larisa wiped her tears for a moment.

"We're not waiting for Papa to come back first?" tanyakanya.

"No need," said Riani while trying to hold back her tears from falling back. "It'd be better if we left before he came back ...."

Larisa didn't say anything more. He knew that Riani harbored feelings for Arfan a long time ago. Perhaps it was indeed better for them to leave before the man came home as it would be much easier for Riani.

"Alright, Ma. Let's go" Larisa said later.

Riani raised her face and looked at the princess for a moment.

"Risa, when we leave, we're not going to take anything and really take it off. Of course we will live with shortcomings like when you were a child, because everything we enjoy so far is not ours" said Riani reminded.

"I know, Ma. It's okay" said Larisa while trying to smile.

Riani also tried to smile even though her eyes could not help but condense. The mother and son then took their suitcases and left the luxurious Arfan residence with just a few clothes.

Meanwhile, at a place, Arfan seemed to have just received a call from one of the servants in his house. He got a report that Riani and Larisa had left his house just a moment ago. The man immediately returned home and checked what the two women brought, considering they had agreed to follow Arfan because of the lure of a good life as a rich and respected person.

Arfan was suspicious because Riani and Larisa chose to leave when she was not at home. Doesn't that mean they deliberately look for the right time to freely bring anything? However, all the bad prejudices that originally filled Arfan's head instantly evaporated as the man checked Larisa and Riani's room.

All the valuables that Arfan had given Riani were still neatly stored in her place. Clothing, bags and branded shoes owned by Riani and Larisa are still neatly arranged on the shelves of glass cabinets available. Riani's expensive jewelry collection given by Arfan is also still intact, not reduced by one. In fact, all of Larisa's school diplomas ranging from elementary school to college diplomas, were all left out of hand.

Arfan sat on the edge of the bed feeling indescribable. His hand seemed to hold tightly to the credit cards owned by Riani and Larisa who were also left by the two women. It seemed like there was nothing brought by them other than just a few sheets of everyday clothes.

Unknowingly Arfan sighed deeply enough. He doesn't know how to feel. He should be happy because Riani and Larisa know themselves by leaving without bringing anything, but somehow his feelings become bad. From the beginning, Arfan was not a good person and was able to do anything to achieve his goal. However, for the first time a feeling of guilt crept in the corner of his heart, although very very very vague.
