Riani shook her head in disbelief. The expression on his face seemed to be mixed, between surprise, fear and also panic. It was predictable if the middle-aged woman knew everything. However, Lalita was a little surprised why her mother actually showed a reaction as if she should not know about all the facts.
"Please, Mom. I won't blame anyone, but please tell me everything honestly. I don't want to be lied to anymore, especially by the people closest to me," Lalita said rather heartily.
Lalita's hands clenched, enduring the emotional turmoil that was currently starting to re-populate her chest. Ingested a long breath, as much as possible to keep himself calm.
"No." Riani finally muttered softly after for a while her mouth was like it was locked. "That's not all right, Lita. Believe me, you just misunderstood."
"Ma, is this really the answer you want to give me? I know that my mom is lying now. Someone's trying to cover up for me. Even if you don't want to be honest, I'll still find out in other ways. But, Ma, it would be much better if I heard it directly from Mama, not from anyone else" Lalita said. There was clearly a disappointed tone from his words.
Riani gulped her saliva with some distress. From the deepest corner of his heart, of course he really wanted to tell the truth to Lalita. But there was something that made him very very afraid, so he chose to dodge, although of course his alibi would not be accepted by his youngest daughter.
"Mama said, Lita. You just misunderstood. Erick and Risa are not like that. Erick came to propose to you and married you, of course because he has liked you for a long time. He even boldly expressed his feelings for your Papa," Riani told a lie.
Lalita looked at her mother with an asymmetrical smile. He thought that Riani would never lie to him again. Unexpectedly, the mama who he considered as good as the angel still insisted on deceiving him, even though the charade had clearly been exposed.
"All right." Lalita finally let out.
"If you don't want to be honest, I can't force you. But don't blame me if from now on I won't trust Mama, Papa or Risa. You are all the people I trust the most. How can you conspire to lie to me like this." Lalita said later in a sharp tone.
"Lita, no. Not like that ...."
"I'll excuse you, Ma." Lalita got up before Riani could finish her sentence.
"Don't worry, I won't ask you about this again. I will not ask Papa or Risa. But, don't think you can all lie to me again. I'm really disappointed in you guys."
Lalita left the living room of her parents' residence with feelings that could not be described with words. Meanwhile, Riani was stunned for a while, before then regained her senses and hurriedly chased after Lalita.
"Lita, wait! Mama can explain. You misunderstood me, son!" Riani exclaimed as she stepped in shock following her youngest daughter.
A slanted smile returned to Lalita's lips. He continued to move quickly regardless of the call of his mother in the slightest. Her heart really hurt so much more than when she heard Erick say he never loved her at all. If her mother had behaved like that to her, then how would anyone else? Her father and Larisa would definitely do the same, right?
I don't know what sin Lalita ever committed so she had to be deceived by those closest to her like this.
"Lita, stop! Wait Mama! You can't go in this state of misunderstanding. Not good, Lita!" Riani still did not give up chasing after Lita who had now reached the yard of the house.
"Misunderstand? Is it in my eyes that I'm so stupid that I can't understand what other people are saying? If you don't want to tell me, that's okay. But stop saying I misunderstood. I'm sick!" lalita cried emotionally.
"Two years I became naive and stupid because I trusted Mama, Papa and Risa. Two years of being happy and feeling loved like a senseless person, thinking that Erick loved me, but didn't know how to express it. Two years I've been living like an idiot who knows nothing! How could Mama treat me like this! How could you all treat me like this!" Lalita finally exploded irresistibly.
Riani gasped with an increasingly indescribable expression. All her life, only this time she saw Lalita so wrathful.
Lalita gave a rough breath, before then turned back and left Riani who was still glued to her place like a statue. He came out of the magnificent fence of his parents' residence and immediately stopped a taxi. The woman whose heart was breaking was asking to be taken to a quiet place, then stayed there to relieve her emotions that were now mounting.
After feeling much better, Lalita went home. He was until the afternoon.
"What do you want to cook for dinner, ma'am?" asked Ms. Risna when Lalita went to the kitchen to fetch cold water in the refrigerator.
"Paste the fried kwetiau just for me dinner. I want to eat that. But cook it later, when I want to eat," said Lalita.
"For you, what should I cook?" ask Miss Risna again. Usually, it was Erick's cooking that Lalita asked to make.
"No need" said Lalita again.
"Yes?" Ms. Risnah seemed to be in disbelief at her own hearing. After being absent last afternoon to make lunch for her husband, now this young mistress also does not intend to prepare dinner too?
"No cooking needed for Erick. He rarely eats dinner at home. Food prepared is often wasted." Lalita made her words clear.
"All right, Madam." Miss Risnah said yes, although her heart was still covered with question marks.
Previously, although clearly Erick rarely ate dinner at home, Lalita still insisted on cooking with the help of Bu Risna. It does not matter if in the end all the food is given to others, or even wasted.
"Oh, yes. Miss Risnah please come with me upstairs first. Help me clean up for a while," pinta Lalita later.
"What's going on, ma'am?" ask Miss Risna. Every morning he has been sorted out, why now his employer is asking him to clean up again?
"Break my stuff in the upstairs room. Please help me move all my belongings to the lower room. From now on, I'm gonna occupy that room." Lalita answered as she stepped out of the kitchen.
