The name Idris is mentioned twice in the Qur'an, but the story is not told. The most famous opinion states that Idris was the same person as a character in the Bible named Enoch who was Noah's great-grandfather.

VerseEdit“And tell (Muhammad) the story of Idris in the Book. Verily he is a man who loves the truth and a prophet, and We have raised him to a high dignity.

— Maryam (19): 56–57”

The name "Idris" described may have meant "translator."[1] Some sources state that he was called Idris in Arabic because of his diligence in studying the teachings of Adam and Shith.[2] Some commentators of the Quran such as Al-Baizawi state that Idris is taken from the Arabic word dars "to teach" Divine revelation.[3] According to Az-Zamakhsyari, the word Idris is not a name derived from Arabic.

The name Idris is mentioned twice in the Qur'an.[a] In the Qur'an, Idris is praised and dissipated as an honest, patient, and elevated figure.[4][5][6] The description of Idris is also from outside the Qur'an, such as the hadith, the history of the Prophet's companions, or the opinions of the scholars.

Ibn Ishaq states that Idris was the first to introduce writing using a pen,[6][7] sewing clothes and wearing them, and a human who understood medical problems.[8] It is said that he was the first to examine the movement of stars, also establishing their weight and size.[9]

There is an opinion that Idris was originally born in Babylon. But when the people there began to commit many sins, he and his followers migrated to Egypt.[10]

Ibn Abbas said,

"Dawud was a shield-maker, Adam a farmer, Noah a carpenter, Idris a tailor, and Moses a shepherd."

— Al-Hakim[11]

Some say that Idris was nicknamed "Asad al-asad" (lion of lions) for his bravery and valour, while in other stories, Idris was given the nickname "Harmasu al-Haramisah"[12] (of astrology).[13]

The famous account states that Idris died in the fourth heaven. Ka'ab al-Ahbar recounted that Idris once said to one of the angels, "Surely Allah has sent down a revelation to me in this and that form. Then tell the angel of death that he may delay my death, so that I may add to my charity." The angel took Idris to the sky. In the fourth heaven, they meet the angel of death. The angel delivered Idris' message to the angel of death. The angel of death asked, "Lantas where is Idris now?" He replied, "He's on my back." The angel of death said, "It is amazing. Surely it was you who was sent, but it was said to me, 'Remove Idris in the fourth heaven, ' so I say, 'How can I uproot his soul in the fourth heaven, while he is on earth?'" Then the angel of death took the life of Idris in the fourth heaven. That is what the word of God means, "And We have raised it to a high dignity."[14]

Hadith israel ' mi'raj

In the hadith concerning the isra' mi'raj, it is explained that the Prophet Muhammad met Idris in the fourth heaven. Narrated from 'Abbas ibn Malik,

"... The gate had opened, and when I (Muhammad) went to the fourth heaven, there I saw Idris. Jibril said (to me), 'This is Idris. Give him your regards.' So I saluted him, and he said, 'Welcome, O my brethren and prophets of righteousness' in return for my greetings."

— Sahih Bukhari 5:58:227

The living prophet

There is a belief among some Muslims that there are four living prophets: two living on earth and two in heaven. The two prophets on earth in question are Prophet Khidir and Prophet Ilyas, while the two in the sky are Prophet Idris and Prophet 'Isa.

About the verse, "And We have raised it to a high dignity," Mujahid states that Idris was lifted up to heaven and has not died as 'Isa was lifted up to heaven. Ibn Kathir responded to Mujahid's words, "If he says that Idris has not died, then his opinion needs to be reviewed. But if he says that Idris was lifted up to heaven alive, then his life was uprooted there, then the opinion does not contradict what Ka'ab al-Ahbar said above. Wallahu a'lam."[15]

The Story of the Prophet Idris and the First Writing in History (2-Out)

The US prophet Idris is also known as the first man to write using a pen. Scientists have found several pieces of ancient manuscripts that are claimed to be related to the US prophet Idris.

By historians, the ancient text is called the Book of Enoch. One of the stories in the book contains about the oldest civilization on earth Lemuria, Atlantis is lost swallowed by the earth. Also, predictions about the great floods that will occur on earth.

The scientists suspect that the Book of Enoch was written by the Prophet Idris, also known as Akhnukh, who in Hebrew is called Enoch.

Besides being known as the first to use a pen, the Prophet Idris AS is also known as an astrologer. Idris was the first to use the star as a guide, a good time to grow crops, estimate weather conditions, and so on.

The connection of the Sumerians with the Prophet Idris US is increasingly visible when some research proves the Sumerians have studied astrology to find out the good planting period. For example, the constellation Taurus is believed to be the beginning of spring and is suitable for planting. Meanwhile, the constellation Virgo is used as the right time to harvest.

Prophet Idris AS was the sixth descendant of Prophet Adam AS, son of Yarid bin Mihla'iel bin Qinan bin Anusy bin Syith bin Adam AS. Prophet Idris was the first prophetic descendant after Prophet Adam AS and Prophet Syith AS.

In the book of the Prophets in the Quran by Afif Abdul Fatah, which quotes a number of information of scholars, mentioned the Prophet Idris AS was born in Munaf (Memphis), Egypt. He then preached to broadcast religion to the territory of ancient Iraq. But some argue that the Prophet Idris was born and raised in Babylon.

Quoting the opinion of Sami Abdullah al-Maghluts, Abdul Syukur al-Azizi wrote, The Prophet Idris was a tribe of Prophet Shith or descendants of Qabil, son of Prophet Adam US, in ancient Iraq willayah.

In this context, there are also historians who suspect the word “extermination' written in the Book of Enoch actually refers to the Children of Qabil. Allah SWT also gave 30 mushaf (shuhuf) as a provision to be taught to his people.

Some scholars say, the Prophet Idris US lived around 4,533 to 4,188 BC. One of them, Al-Mahluts in the book entitled Atlas of the History of Prophets and Apostles. Dhurorudin Mashad wrote in his book Pearl of Wisdom Acts 25 Prophets and Apostles and mentioned, Prophet Idris AS got the nickname of Allah SWT in the form of Asadul Usud or lion of all lions. The nickname was given for his courage and bravery.

In the book, as quoted by Abdul Syukur, mentioned Prophet Idris AS is one of the prophets who have many privileges.  The US prophet Idris was known as a very clever prophet, the one who first invented writing and invented stationery, was good at drawing, sewing, as well as astronomers.

The story of the Prophet Idris as that makes goosebumps about hell and death

Idris was the sixth descendant of Adam. He was the son of Qabil and Iqlima (son and daughter of Prophet Adam as).

At that time, God commanded the Prophet Idris to invite all men to walk in the truth. He was the first human to receive revelation through the Angel Gabriel when he was 82 years old.

As a prophet, he had miracles or advantages, namely:

The first man who was good at reading was written with a pen.

The Prophet Idris was given various kinds of knowledge ranging from caring for horses, astrology (falaq), to the science of numeracy which is now known as mathematics.

The name Idris comes from the word Darasa which means learning. The Prophet Idris was very happy to study, and diligently studied the phenomena of the universe.

The Prophet Idris was titled as 'Asadul Usud' which means Lion, because he never gave up hope when carrying out his duties as a Prophet. He was never afraid to face his unbelieving people. But he is never arrogant, he also has a forgiving nature.

The first prophet to see heaven and hell

One day when the Prophet Idris and the Angel Izroil worshiped together, then the Prophet Idris made a unique request.

"Can You take me to see heaven and hell, O Angel of Izroil?" ask the prophet Idris.

The angel Izroil replied, "O Prophet of Allah, again your request is strange. Why do you ask that? Even the angels are afraid to see hell, O Prophet of Allah."

The prophet Idris replied, "Frankly, I fear the punishment of Allah. But may my faith be thick after seeing it."

Then the Angel Izroil asked God for permission and got his blessing. They both went to see hell. As it neared, Prophet Idris instantly fainted. The guardian angel of hell is a very scary figure. He drags and tortures disobedient people to God during his life. The prophet Idris was unable to witness these terrible tortures. There is no scene more terrifying than hell. Fires blazing, terrifying rumbling sounds and other terrible things. The prophet Idris left hell with a limp body.

The second destination, the Angel Izroil, took the Prophet Idris to heaven. There, the reaction of the Prophet Idris was the same, almost fainting! But not out of fear, but rather amazement with the psona and beauty of all that is in heaven.

Seen rivers whose water is so clear as glass. Meanwhile, on the river bank there are trees whose trunk is made of peak and gold. Then there are also palaces for the inhabitants of heaven. In every corner there are trees that produce fruits, the fruit is so fresh, fragrant and fragrant.

After traveling around, the Angel Izroil invited the Prophet Idris back to earth. But Idris refused to go home and wanted to stay in heaven.

"Lord may stay here after the apocalypse, after all the acts of worship are persecuted by Allah, then you can inhabit heaven with the Prophets and other believers," said Angel Izroil.

Then the Prophet Idris answered, "I want to worship Allah until the day of Kimata,".

when the Archangel of Izroil, who had long been friends with the Prophet Idris, asked God for permission to come down to earth to meet the Prophet Idris. He was eager to meet the prophet Idris. And God allowed.

That night, the Prophet Idris came upon a man who was carrying a great deal of fruit. Of course he was an Izroil Angel in disguise. The prophet Idris did not know.

The prophet Idris offered the food to Izroil but he refused. Finally they talked and went out for a walk to see the scenery around. It didn't feel like they were together for four days. Because it was familiar, the Prophet Idris began to be suspicious of the movement of the Guest. With high curiosity finally the Prophet Idris asked.

Prophet Idris: Yes My Lord. Who exactly are you?

Angel Izroil: Sorry O Prophet of God, I am actually Izroil.

Prophet Idris: Angel Izroil? Are you that? The Lifter?

Angel Izroil: Right, yes Idris.

Prophet Idris: You have been with me for four days.Have You also fulfilled your duty in taking the lives of the creatures of this world?

Angel Izroil: O Idris, for these four days there have been many lives that I have taken. The spirits of those beings are like dishes in front of me, I take them like someone is bribing food.

Prophet Idris: O Angel Izroil. What did you mean by coming here? Do you want to take my life?

Angel Izroil: No Idris. I have come to visit you because I long and God allows Me.

Prophet Idris: O Izroil. I have one request and please grant it. Please take my life. And ask God for permission to give me back my life. I just want to feel the death sac that so many people say is terrible.

Angel Izroil: I do not take the life of a person, but only with the permission of Allah.

Then Allah granted the Prophet's request. And the Angel Izroil took the life of the Prophet Idris at that very moment.Angel Izroil cried to see his friend feel pain. After death, God revived Idris.

After the life of the prophet Idris wept. He could not have imagined that other humans would experience death with the same dread. The prophet Idris could not bear to have his people miserable at the end of life and death. Since then, the Prophet Idris has been more active in inviting his people to always do good and be honest for the things of truth.
