The Messengers of God

The Messengers of God
the example of Muhammad SAW in the education of the ummah

Muhammad PBUH is the bearer of mercy for all nature that brings humanity to the way of salvation in the world and the Hereafter.

Muhammad PBUH is the bearer of mercy for all nature that brings humanity to the way of salvation in the world and the Hereafter. The guide is Dienul Islam (Islamic Religion). Religion that leads to the way of happiness, prosperity, peace, and salvation of mankind. The glory of the Prophet lies in his character and personality. Allah SWT says in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 21:

Meaning: Indeed there is in (self) the Messenger of Allah a good example for you (i.e) for the one who expects (mercy) Allah and (arrival) the Day of Resurrection and he calls Allah a lot.

Allah SWT praises the morality of the Prophet SAW. This is explained in al-Qur’an, Surah Al-Qalam, verse 4: “And that indeed you have a very noble character”.

The Four Compulsory Traits of the Prophet

As an Apostle, Prophet Muhammad SAW has 4 very commendable properties that are enviable and exemplified by all Muslims. These properties are as follows:

Shidiq

Shidiq means right. Since childhood Prophet Muhammad SAW has indeed shown the nature of siddiq. In his daily life, he never told a lie. So that his nature is what makes him a role model, and is always considered by the surrounding community. Even in his trading activities he was always honest and that made his trade always sell well.

He is respected by the community because of the honest nature he has and is shown in his daily life. In fact he was trusted to settle disputes arising in the hands of the Arab community at that time.

For example, at a time when there was almost a war between large tribes. Because each tribe that put the stone Hajar Aswad back to its original place, namely on the wall of the Ka’bah. But thanks to the wisdom of the Prophet, such quarrels could be avoided. They all followed the advice and proposal of the prophet Muhammad that the stone of Hajar Aswad be placed on his turban. And then each individual chieftain who has been meritorious, rebuilt the Ka’bah. At that time the ka’bah suffered damage due to the great flood that hit the city of Mecca.

The nature of the Prophet's Shidiq continues to expand until he breathes his last. At the time he delivered the news of Isra Mi’raj many infidels of Quraysh who said that he had lied. When the pagan Quraysh asked Abu Bakr about the events of Israel and Mi’raj as reported by Muhammad, Abu Bakr replied, if the events of the Isra Mi’raj were conveyed by Muhammad then I believe completely.

Abu Bakr was a strong believer in all the words of the Prophet. Although Abu Bakr himself sometimes has not heard it directly like the events of Isra Mi’raj but he immediately believed it because it was the words of the Prophet. Abu Bakr was always convinced that it was impossible for the Prophet to tell a lie. Because of this attitude, Abu Bakr was given the title As-Shidiq, which always justifies the words of the Prophet.

Trustworthiness

Trust means to be trusted. The Prophet Muhammad was the perfect recipient of revelation. The Prophet in no way added or reduced the revelation he received from Allah SWT. What he conveyed to all Muslims was what he received from Allah SWT.

The trustworthy nature of the Apostle has been shown since childhood when he brought merchandise Siti Khadijah to the land of Sham. He takes this trust seriously. This earnestness in maintaining trust impressed Siti Khadijah. For he never took advantage of what he earned. All profits are still left to Siti Khadijah.

Later, while in Medina and making the Hudaibiyah agreement, he obeyed the content of the agreement even though the Companions said that the content of the agreement was unfair.

Tablighs

Tabligh means to convey all the words of Allah SWT addressed to mankind through the Prophet SAW. Nothing is hidden even if the revelation offends the Prophet himself.

“So that He may know that the apostles have delivered the treatises of his Lord, and that His knowledge covers them, and He counts all things one by one.” (QS Al - Jin: 28)

“He (Muhammad) was surly and turned away, for a blind man had come to him.” (QS ‘Base: 1~2)

There is a story told in a story that the word of Allah (QS ‘Abasa: 1) came down with regard to Ibn Umm Maktum who was blind and came to the Prophet SAW while saying: “Give me a guide, yes Rasulullah.” At that time the Messenger of Allah was facing the rulers of the Quraysh polytheists, so that the Messenger of Allah turned away from him and continued to serve the princes of Quraysh.

“Is what I say this bothers sir?” Ummi Maktum. Then the Prophet replied: “No.” So this verse came down as a rebuke on the actions of the Prophet of Allah. (Directed by at-Tirmidhi and also al-Hakim sourced from ‘Aisyah. Narrated also by Ibn Ya’la sourced from Anas.)

Actually what the Prophet did was a natural thing for the general stardardard. When someone is talking in public or with someone, of course we do not like to be disturbed by others. But as for the standard of the Prophet, it was not enough. Therefore Allah SWT rebuked His Majesty SAW through the verse.

As a tabligh, even though the verse insinuates it, Prophet Muhammad SAW still conveys it to us. That is the nature of a prophet. So, it is impossible that the Prophet was ‘kitman’ or hid the revelation.

Fathanah

Fathon means wise. It is impossible for a man to be a fool or a jahlun. In presenting the Quran and then explaining it in tens of thousands of hadiths requires great wisdom and intelligence.

Sire SAW must be able to explain the words of Allah SWT to his people with wisdom so that they will embrace Islam. The Prophet was also required to be able to argue with the pagans in a good way.

Moreover, the Prophet was able to organize his people so that he managed to transform the Arab nation of Jahiliah who are basically stupid, rude/abhorrent, fragmented and always at war between tribes, into a nation that is cultured and knowledgeable. It all requires a very extraordinary wisdom in the Messenger of SAW.

May we be able to apply the 4 characteristics of His Majesty SAW above in daily life and get the pleasure of Allah SWT, Aamiin.

Twelve Exemplary Traits in the Prophet Muhammad SAW:

Well-natured.

The Prophet is famous for his kindness to anyone indiscriminately. Even against his enemies. And this is what makes him a role model for his people.

It is one of his habits. Habits that he always used. Even if honesty hurts, he will always say it.

Shy-tempered.

Although he was famous fierce in the battlefield, fierce to face the enemies of God, but there is a shy nature in him. Shy here means that he is always ashamed to sin, do evil, do injustice, and other crimes. Shame on humans? No. gabe. Not only human, but ashamed of Allah SWT.

Weak Soft.

Aye? Is not the Prophet famous for being firm? Right, firm in the sense of straightening the problem and applying discipline. But on the other hand the Prophet was also very gentle. Especially for orphans, women, and also people who are less able. He was once said to be very gentle with the underprivileged Jews.

Unpretentious.

Yes, it is very clear that he is very humble. Never brag about himself, what else in front of the underprivileged.

Never incriminate anyone else.

This is one of the principles of the Prophet. When he felt he could do something, he never asked others for help.

Very homely.

This is the lifestyle that should be followed. He was known to be very modest from the time he was Caliph. He did not want to look luxurious in front of his people.

Never repay evil with evil.

This is something we often forget. Sometimes when we are piloted or dikjain the same temen, we immediately reply with more sadistic. Different from him. Even in his story, once when he preached, someone threw him with a stone and spat on him. What was his reaction? Reply to that throw. Yes, repay. But by throwing a smile. Subhanallah.

I like to forgive and to let go.

Forgiveness, that is the superior nature of him. When relatives or those closest to him wronged, he always forgave and advised him not to repeat. Give up? Yep. In contrast to most people today, who when losing their valuables immediately confused to and fro, even to stress. If he loses something just smile and relax, by believing that God will definitely replace it in the future.

Affectionately.

Love, this is his success in his struggle. He was known to be affectionate especially to the poor and orphans

Always giving directions.

When he was asked by friends or people, he certainly tried to be able to answer it, even if he did not know. He will try to find it even if he has to ask someone else again.

Always smiling.

It is the nature of the Prophet that we think is easy to do, but it is not as easy as when we know his struggle at that time. But under all circumstances, he could always show his smile.
