Solomon was a king of the Children of Israel. According to the calculations of historians, he ruled or became king in the land of Kan'an for 40 years, from 930 BC until his death in 970 BC.
In his teens (13 years) he was made king, after his father, King David died. He had power unequaled, and knowledge that no previous apostles had.
Prophet Solomon commanded not only men but also Jinns, beasts, until he also controlled the wind all according to the command of Prophet Solomon. He understands and understands all kinds of animals in the world.
When Solomon left, he ordered the wind to carry him. A two-month journey of people can be equal to one day because of its speed. His sharpness and intelligence exceeded that of the prophet David.
When one is not satisfied with the decision of David, he comes to Solomon and Solomon's decision strengthens him.
Prophet Sulaiman conquered queen Balqis without war. Although the king of the land of Saba, whose name was Balqis, was very rich, but he could not face the Prophet Solomon.
Queen Balqis felt weak when she learned of the greatness of Prophet Sulaiman. He felt astonished especially when the Prophet Sulaian a.s.can bring his throne before Balqis came.
Prophet Sulaiman Wrote Balqis
The land of Saba became a prosperous country and was favored by Allah after the Prophet Solomon married Balqis. All this is mentioned in the Quran of Saba' and in the letter of An-naml.
One day all the soldiers of the Prophet Sulayman were gathered, only one was not seen, the Hud-hud.
At that time the Hud-hud went outside without his permission. Solomon threatened to cut his neck when he returned.
However, the Hud-hud replied that he brought news from the queen of Balqis in the land of Saba'. Prophet Sulayman did not believe the news, so he examined the truth of the news.
Prophet Sulaiman ordered the bird Hud-hud to deliver his letter to the queen.
After Hud-hud returned with a reply from queen Balqis, Prophet Sulaiman believed and survived Hud-hud from punishment for bringing good news.
Sulaiman had soldiers from the Jin faction who had a lot of knowledge. They can bring forth the throne of queen Balqis in just the blink of an eye.
After Balqis came, he was seated on his throne while being asked, saying,
"Whose throne is this?
Balqis replied, "It's like my throne."
Sulaiman replied, "Rubber".
Then the queen Balqis was ushered in to see the palace made of glass. When she was about to set foot, Queen Balqis raised her leg thinking she was about to pass through the water.
The prophet Sulayman said that the floor was not made of water but of glass.
After that, queen Balqis converted to Islam and her army. The speech of Balqis when surrendering and converting to Islam is found in the letter of An-Naml verse: 44.
إِنِّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَانَ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ....
Meaning:
"I have wronged myself. And now Islam I am with Solomon to the Lord of all nature." (Q.L. Name: 44).
After Queen Balqis converted to Islam, the country of Saba grew stronger under the rule of Nabi Sulaeman
In the view of Muslims, Solomon, like David, was not only a king, but also a Prophet or Messenger of Allah.
As a prophet or an apostle, he was not just anyone, but a chosen person with a special soul quality, which not only enabled him to receive revelation from God, but also able to control themselves and lust especially from disbelief.
Prophet Sulaiman a.s. Died
The Word of Allah in the Quran of Saba' verse 14 says:
Meaning:
"When We decreed the death of Solomon, nothing showed them his death, except the termites that ate his staff. So when he fell down, the Genie knew that if they knew the unseen they would not remain in a humiliating torment."
Prophet Sulaiman when he was nearing his end he sat on his throne by laying on his staff.
It was then that Prophet Sulaiman died and no one knew that he was dead, neither his guards, the palace dwellers, nor the jinn who always worked hard to carry out his orders.
After he fell down because his staff was eaten by termites so that they could not hold back their weight and the stick was broken, they only realized that Prophet Sulaiman a.s.s was dead.
It was at this time that they acknowledged their weakness, unable to know that Solomon had died.
If they had known that Solomon had died, they would not have worked hard, for they had been commanded by Allah to obey and obey Solomon, not the princes of his court.
Prophet Sulaiman's will.
When it was nearing its end, Prophet Sulaiman a.s.tutored to the jinn who submitted under his power to complete the building.
When Sulaiman felt his death was imminent, he wanted to hide his death to the jinn who worked hard to finish the building.
Some of the information contained in the Quran concerning Solomon is understood by two different patterns of understanding among scholars.
First, the information was understood in such a way that it was concluded that Solomon was a king and a prophet, endowed by God with extraordinary gifts.
Such as having troops consisting of human troops, jinn troops, and bird troops, able to rule the wind according to his will, able to listen and understand the talk of ants, as well as commanding his subordinates, namely ifrit, these included the jinn, who presented the throne seat of the queen of Saba' from Yemen to Sulaiman's palace in Jerusalem in a short time.
Even his other subordinates were able to present it faster (just an instant or before the eyelids flickered, the throne chair could already be presented from Yemen to Sulaiman's palace).
The understanding of some of these scholars is quite common among Muslims, but not so for some other scholars, who have other understandings as well.
According to this understanding, it is true that Solomon had three groups of troops, but all were human.
The name of the army from the group of jinn and from the group of birds is only understood as a designation or just a name, as now there are the names of eagle troops, eagle troops, and so on.
Hud-hud who knows the state of the people and the kingdom of Saba' is understood not to be a bird, but a man who becomes the commander of the bird division forces.
The valley of the ants that Sulaiman and his army once passed through, is understood to be the valley inhabited by humans from the tribe of ants.
The throne chair to be presented at Sulaiman's palace, conceived as a throne seat that is exactly like the queen's seat of Saba', was made and prepared as soon as possible (completed queen of Saba' or before the presence of Solomon's mission which again preceded the arrival of the queen of Saba').
