The Story of Prophet Ibrahim AS

Abraham was one of the prophets sent by God to improve mankind. The story of Prophet Ibrahim turned out to be very diverse and very good to be exemplified. Here we present some stories of the life journey of Prophet Ibrahim As.

THE STORY OF PROPHET ABRAHAM AT HIS BIRTH

Abraham was a prophet who was born in the midst of a pagan and idolatrous society. He was the son of Azar who was a descendant of Sam the son of Noah. Prophet Abraham was born in the year 2295 BC, in the land of Mausul.

Abraham was born in the days of the kingdom of King Namrud who claimed to be God. King Namrud was the ruler of the Babylonian Kingdom at one point having a premonition in his dream that a boy would make it difficult for him.

In the Acts of Prophet Abraham, one day, the child will destroy his kingdom. King Namrud immediately sent down an order to kill every boy in the city of Babylon. Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam was the child in question.

Then, Allah the Most Helper saved the Prophet's mother Ibrahim Alaihissalam. When pregnant there are no signs of pregnancy. Until his mother gave birth and Prophet Ibrahim Alaihssalam grew up and survived the evil King Namrud.

The people in the Babylonian Kingdom at that time, worshiped the statues as such. In fact, the father of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam was someone who made the statues.

The lives of the inhabitants of the Babylonian Kingdom have been very perverted and distorted. They built a place to put their idols. It includes the largest statue of King Namrud.

Abraham always wondered why they believed and worshipped the statues. Whether God can be made up in the form of a statue, and such a statue could have the ability as God. For Abraham, it made no sense. Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam also realized there must be a God who deserves to be worshiped but he did not know whether it was.

THE STORY OF PROPHET IBRAHIM AS A CHILD

The story of Prophet Abraham which also contains many lessons is when he was a child. Prophet Ibrahim knew when he was a child that his father was someone who made unique statues. One day, he asked about his father's creation and his father told him that they were statues of gods.

Prophet Ibrahim was very astonished to see this, then arose in him through his common sense of rejection of him.

Uniquely, Prophet Ibrahim actually played with the statue when he was a child, even sometimes he rode the statues like people who used to hold donkeys and other animals mounts.

One day, his father saw him while riding on the back of a statue called Mardukh. At that time his father was angry and ordered his son not to play with the statue again.

Ibrahim asked: “What is this statue, my father? Both his ears are big, bigger than our ears.” His father replied: “That is Mardukh, the god of the gods, my son, and those two large ears as a symbol of great intelligence.” Ibrahim seemed to laugh in him when he was just seven years old.

One day Abraham and his father entered the place of worship where the statues were. There was a feast and celebration before the statues, and in the midst of the celebration there was a shaman who gave a briefing on the greatness of the greatest idolatrous god.

With a passionate voice, the shaman begged the statue to love his people and provide them with sustenance.

Suddenly the silence of the moment was broken by the voice of Ibrahim addressed to the shaman figure: “Hai the shaman, he will never hear you.

Do you believe that he hears?” At that time, humans began to be shocked. They were looking for where the sound came from.

They found that the voice was Abraham's. Then the shaman figure began to show his anxiety and anger. Suddenly the father tried to calm things down and said that his son was sick and did not know what was being said.

Then both of them came out of the place of worship. The father accompanied Ibrahim to his bed and tried to put him to sleep and left him after that. However, Ibrahim did not just want to sleep when he saw the error that befell mankind. He soon got out of his bed.

He is not a sick man. He felt faced with a big event. He considered it impossible that the statues made of wood and stones became gods for his people. This story of Prophet Abraham gives a lesson for us to be aware of heresy and avoid it.

THE STORY OF PROPHET ABRAHAM SEEKING GOD

Abraham went out of his house into the mountain. He walked alone in the darkness. He chose one of the caves on the mountain, then he leaned his back in a state of pensive sitting.

He looked at the sky. He grew tired of looking at the earth filled with the atmosphere of Jahiliyah that rested on idols. Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam finally carried out a search.

The God that must be worshipped must be something special and have unparalleled abilities. Then God showed the signs of His glory. God showed him the stars, the moon, and the sun.

But finally Prophet Ibrahim Alaihissalam began to understand, God worshiped is not God in the form of things that rise and drown.

The God who is worthy of worship is the God who publishes and drowns. Allah then instructed Abraham that Allah was the God he had been looking for.

Prophet Abraham who already had the determination to fight against the shirk and idolatry that occurred in the community of his people wanted to first strengthen his faith and belief, reassuring his heart and clearing it of the doubts that might occasionally interfere with his mind by asking God to show him how He revives dead beings.

Call him to God : “Yes my Lord! Show me how you turn on dead creatures.” Allah answered his call by saying: Do you not believe and believe in My power ?

“Prophet Abraham answered: “True, O my Lord, I have believed and believed in You and in Your power, but I would love to see it with my own eyes, so that I may have peace and quiet and my heart and that we may be thick and firm in my confidence in You and in Your power.

Then Allah granted the Prophet Abraham's request, and Allah commanded the Prophet to capture four birds.

Then Allah commanded Abraham to observe and examine the bodies of the birds, cutting it into pieces mixing the mix then the body of the bird that has been destroyed and mixed with it is placed on the top of each hill of the four hills that are far from each other.

After doing what Allah hinted at, the Prophet Abraham commanded the birds that had been torn apart and separated from each part of the body of the bird from the rest.

With the permission of Allah and His power came the flight of the four birds as alive as before upon hearing the call of Abraham and the call of the Prophet Abraham to him and the four birds that lived again in front of him, it is seen with its own eyes how Almighty God can revive His dead being as He created it from something that is not.

And thus achieved what Prophet Abraham wanted to pour out his heart and dispel doubts in his faith and belief.

THE STORY OF PROPHET IBRAHIM DESTROYING THE IDOL OF KING NAMRUD

He destroyed it with an ax and only one that was not destroyed, this He did by purposely having the axe clad in the neck of the largest statue. A few days later King Namrud and his followers arrived back in his country, and knowing that all the statues that had been worshipped had been destroyed so he was angry about the incident.

King Namrud immediately accused Prophet Ibrahim as the culprit, because everyone already knew that Prophet Abraham hated the idols, then briefly the story of Prophet Ibrahim was faced with King Namrud for trial.

The King said furiously, “O Abraham, are you not the one who destroyed these idols?”. “Not!” abraham answered briefly.

Hearing the reply, King Namrud grew furious and said: “Then who else if not you, were you not here when we left and did you not hate these idols?”

“Yes, but it wasn't me who destroyed those idols. I think it was that big idol that destroyed it, wasn't the impact still on his neck?” abraham calmly.

King Namrud denied it: “There may be an idol statue can do such a thing!”. Hearing this forcefully the Prophet Abraham said: “Then why do you worship idols that can do nothing?”

Hearing Ibrahim's statement, his followers became shocked and realized that even they had thought of a God who had been worshipped unable to see, hear, and move. But in contrast to King Namrud, the words of Prophet Ibrahim made him even more angry.

THE STORY OF PROPHET ABRAHAM WHEN HE WAS PUNISHED

King Namrud and furious over the incident, finally ordered his soldiers to severely punish Prophet Ibrahim. The punishment that King Namrud said was right to give to Prophet Ibrahim was to be put to death by being burned alive.

The fire was lit with wood for fuel, while the Prophet was tied up and placed in the middle of the pile. But God is more powerful in all things. Allah did not want Abraham to die and be defeated by King Namrud. Then God said:

Meaning: “We say: “Hai fire, be cool and be salvation for Ibrahim.” (QS. Anbiya: 69).

While witnessing the arson process, King Namrud and his followers laughed with satisfaction. They thought Abraham had been reduced to ashes with the fire. However, they were so shocked after the fiercely burning fire was extinguished.  The Prophet suddenly walked out of the burning rubble safely without the slightest injury.

Seeing the incident the entire community who initially laughed out loud then stopped laughing and turned into confusion. After the incident the Prophet Ibrahim went to migrate to the land of Kan’an and Maqdis temple. It was there that he lived and had descendants.

This is the story of Prophet Abraham who taught us about the greatness of Allah SWT. We should always pray and ask Him for help.

THE STORY OF PROPHET ABRAHAM WHEN HE WAS EXAMINED

Together with Siti Hajar (his wife) and Ismail, the Prophet emigrated to Mecca. It was there that he built the Ka’bah as the center of human worship of God. Prophet Abraham is famous as a Prophet who prayed a lot to Allah SWT.

Abraham had two wives, Sarah and Siti Hajar, and had two sons Ishmael and Ishaq, both of whom became Prophets and Apostles of Allah. Ishmael was born to Siti Hajar and Ishaq was born to Sarah.

He married Hajar because with Sarah was not blessed with children, then Sarah asked Ibrahim to marry his slave Hajar and Ismail was born. However, it was not long before Sarah finally had a son named Ishaq.

When a son of Abraham grew up, God wanted to test Abraham's faithfulness to His commandments through a dream of child slaughter.

In the Acts of Prophet Abraham, his faith, which had been successfully put to the test before him, was completely unchanged when he received this commandment. Abraham took his son to carry out the commandments of God.

He did not complain or plead with God for relief from this commandment unless he did as God commanded. When Abraham laid his son to carry out the commandments of God, he first sought the response and approval of the son, Ishmael. Abraham said:

“Oh my son, verily I saw in a dream that I slaughtered you, then tell me what you think!” his son replied: “O my father, do as you are told; with the favor of Allah, you will find me among the patient ones.”

When his son gave up and Abraham was ready to extend a hand to slaughter his son, God called Abraham to hold his hand, for this proved that Abraham was willing to do anything for God, it also proves the form of a devoted servant and a trustworthy figure for Allah.

Then Ibrahim found a large slaughter as a substitute sacrifice for his son.  Prophet Abraham as get a special place on the side of Allah SWT. Abraham was one of the five prophets of ul-Azmi where Allah SWT took from them a heavy covenant.

The five prophets are Prophet Noah, Prophet Abraham, Prophet Moses, Prophet Isa, and Prophet Muhammad SAW, according to the order in which they were addressed. Abraham was a prophet who was tested by Allah SWT with a clear test.

A test above the abilities of ordinary people. Despite facing severe trials and challenges, Prophet Abraham still showed as a servant who kept his promise and always showed a commendable attitude.

Prophet Ibrahim is a harnba of Allah SWT who has the right to be appointed as al-Khalil or lover of Allah SWT. These are degrees of prophetic degrees that we do not know their value.

Nor do we know how to respond when choices are so heavy. It is amazing that every time Prophet Abraham received trials and pain, he created jewels.

THE DEATH OF PROPHET ABRAHAM

In the Acts of Prophet Abraham, when he entered the age of one hundred and fifty, God appeared gray on the hair of Prophet Abraham. The scholar said, “The reason Allah gave gray hair to Prophet Ibrahim is because Ishaq, his son is very similar to him. The people around his residence could not distinguish between the two.

People came to Ishaq and thought he was Abraham. The person said hello, “Assalamualaikum, kholilullah.” Finally Ishaq replied, “I am the son of kholilullah. He's better than me. He is like my master and I am like his slave.” When the people began to be unable to distinguish between Prophet Abraham and Prophet Ishaq, Allah gave him a sign of gray hair.

However, Prophet Ibrahim was sad to see his gray hair. But he could not refuse what he was experiencing. Prophet Abraham was the first person to go gray from the descendants of Prophet Adam.

Then also narrated, when the angel of death was about to take the life of Prophet Abraham as, then he said, “Hai angel of death, do you ever know a lover took the life of his loved ones.” Then the angel of death ascended into heaven to report it to Allah.

Then Allah said, “Tell my beloved, “Did a lover not like to meet his loved ones?” Then the angel of death returned to Abraham. He said what Allah SWT said.

Hearing him, Prophet Ibrahim said to himself, “Calm yourself for now.” Then the angel of death took his life. Prophet Ibrahim buried in the plantation of Hairun, is a garden of his own that he intended to be buried there.
