The Messengers of God
the story of the prophet ilyas

The story of the Prophet Ilyas As is indeed one of the stories of the prophet that is still a matter of debate. Not because of his teachings on the religion of God, but rather on his current existence.

Prophet Ilyas is not much different from the Prophet Khidir who is said to have not yet been deprived of his life. The Mekera is still hidden by Allah until the end of time and death.

To find out the full story of his life journey, let us see together the following story.

What Are the Miracles of Prophet Ilyas?

As one of the messengers on earth, Allah has bestowed several miracles on the Prophet Ilyas. This was used to show the truth of all that he had told the Children of Israel. Here are some of the miracles possessed by the Prophet Ilyas As. along with the story in the opposite.

Able to Bring Long Drought and Rain

At birth, the Prophet Ilyas was already in the midst of the Israelites who worshiped an idol called Baal. As the supreme ruler of the land, the ruthless King Ahab built a large statue of Baal in the middle of the city to serve as a center of worship of his people.

Seeing this, the Prophet Ilyas, who had received revelation to straighten the way of his people, came to King Ahab and said that if King Ahab did not repent immediately by destroying all the idols that exist, he would not repent, then Allah will wreak havoc on the dry season for three years. Hearing this, King Ahab ordered his soldiers to capture the Prophet Ilyas.

It turned out to be true, not so long ago, a long drought came. Drought and famine were everywhere. A lot of people died, and so did the livestock. In fact, plants that were originally fertile are now dry do not give crops. They then sought the Prophet Ilyas to apologize, beg for forgiveness, and repent to Allah.

They asked the Prophet Ilyas to ask Allah for rain. And, sure enough, by the permission of Allah, shortly after the Prophet Ilyas prayed, rain came in the land. Life is back in this country. Unfortunately, they fell back and worshiped idols until Allah sent a second punishment.

Still Can Eat and Drink in the Middle of Long Drought

When the long drought came, Allah had ordered the Prophet Ilyas to hide in the Kerkit River. In this river, the Prophet Ilyas was able to obtain a drink. For food, God sent a bird to bring him food every morning and evening. Thus, despite drought and famine, the Prophet Ilyas was assured of his food and drink.

Can Cure Prophet Ilyasa's Illness Very Severe

Congratulations to King Ahab's Cruel Wife

King Ahab had a wife who was no less cruel than the husband. Upon learning that Baal's statue was destroyed by the Prophet Ilyas, he vowed to chase after the Prophet Ilyas and kill him. Hearing this, the Prophet Ilyas hid in a cave on a hill according to Allah's command. And when the army of King Ahab's wife pursued, there was a great earthquake until they were ravaged. Prophet Ilyas survived in the cave.

Raising the Dead

In the midst of a long drought, Prophet Ilyas saw a grandmother who was carrying a little water and a stretcher to eat her child. He then asked the grandmother to bring water and wheat for him. He promised that the wheat in the bowl would continue to exist even though it had been eaten by the power of God. The promise came true, but the boy suddenly died. The Prophet Ilyas then asked Allah to revive the child.

The Story of the Prophet Ilyas Raised to Heaven

Once, when the prophets Ilyas and Ilyasa were walking east of the Jordan River, there came a very large typhoon. After leaving, suddenly the Angel Izrail came before the Prophet Ilyas and said that it was time for him to die. Hearing the news, the Prophet Ilyas cried. When asked if he was crying for fear of death, the Prophet Ilyas replied that he was crying not for fear of death. He wept because he was sad and could no longer think to Allah until the end of the world if death had already taken him.

Hearing the answer, Allah ordered the angels to delay the deposition of the Prophet Ilyas. God placed him in a beautiful garden so that he could whisper aloud to Allah. Allah gave the Prophet Ilyas the opportunity to continue to do as much as possible until the end of time. Physically, his body was made supernatural by God so that it is not visible to humans even though he has not died.

Prophet Ilyas and Prophet Khidir

Like the Prophet Ilyas, the Prophet Khidir also became one of the prophets who until now had not been deprived of his life by Allah. However, in contrast to Prophet Ilyas, Prophet Khidir was placed in the middle of a vast ocean. According to some sources, the Prophet Ilyas always had meetings with the Prophet Khidir. Here are some of these sources:

According to Ibn Abbas Ra, the Prophet Khidir and the Prophet Ilyas met once a year during the Hajj season. They met, then did Tahallul by shaving each other's heads.According to Ibn Hajar, in addition to meeting once a year in the Hajj season, Nabi Ilyas and Nabi Khidir also perform Ramadan fasting in Jerusalem.According to Musnad Abu Usamah, although Nabi Khidir is located in the middle of the ocean and Nabi Ilyas in the middle of the land, they always have meetings every night. Their meeting place was located next to a wall made of Dzulqarnain.

The story of the Prophet Ilyas in al-Qur’an

Ilyas was the son of Yasin bin Fanhash. Fanhash was the butra of Aizar bin Harun. In other words, the Prophet Ilyas was the fourth of the prophets Aaron As. He was sent by God into the world to restore the faith of the Israelites in the land of Baalbek in Lebanon.

The name Ilyas itself is mentioned in al-Qur’an only four times, namely in Surat al-An’am (verse 85) and as-Saffat (verses 123, 129, and 130). Meanwhile, the story of the struggle of the Prophet Ilyas in warning his people is contained in the letter as-Saffat verses 124 to 128.

Indeed, there are not many verses that tell about the Prophet Ilyas. However, his existence as the Apostle of Allah is very clearly mentioned in the letter as-Saffat verse 123. Therefore, as Muslims we are obliged to believe it.
