Whales do not have canines. They feed by sucking large amounts of water to and filter out small animals like plankton to fill their stomachs. The absorbed water is then sprayed through the upper part of his body when the whale appears to the surface.

The whale also once every half hour will surface to pick up oxygen and store it in large quantities to breathe for half an hour when diving in the water. So the Prophet Jonah was not undigested by the whale and the Prophet Jonah got a supply of oxygen when the whale rose to the surface and stored sufficient amounts of oxygen.
