Noah is the third prophet, after the Prophet Adam Alaihissalam, and the Prophet Idris Alaihissalam which we must know and learn, from a total of about 124 thousand prophets, allah sent 313 of them were Prophets and Apostles.
Noah was the 9th descendant of Adam. Quoted from the Book of Ibn Kathir about the story of the Prophets, the distance between Noah and Prophet Adam is 10 Centuries. The religion of Islam brought by Prophet Adam continued to develop, but after a long period between the prophet Idris and the prophet Noah, caused mankind, the people of Noah who existed at that time, to become the, it is far from the way of God.
They return to disbelief by worshipping statues that they consider to be gods. They imitate their fathers and assume that the deed must be true. The statues were originally people who were sholeh who became the heir of the Prophet Idris, who preached that the religion of Islam was always practiced by the community.
The shaleh people named wadd, this shuwa always reminds people to fear Allah SWT. But when these shaleh people died, the devil la’natullah began to whisper to the ancestors of Noah not to forget their services. The way not to forget their merits is to make statues that resemble those shaleh people.
In the early days of making this statue, the faith and Islamic community is still awake. But over time and after generations, when the science of religion began to fade among them, then slowly but surely the devil began to lead the people of Noah to worship these statues and make them as God. Such is the devil's cunning way of deceiving mankind.
The devil again managed to make the descendants of Adam again tempted to persuade them. The people of Noah became very distant in their obedience to God. Believing and worshipping Allah they no longer know. And the devil became very happy, because it had managed to invite humans to accompany him into the inhabitants of Hell Hell.
Noah, who was still willing to use his common sense, could think and eliminate this powerlessness and make him free from all forms of the idiosyncrasies of his people, and break away from the worship of these man-made statues. Allah SWT then appointed Noah as the successor of the prophetic treatise.
THE BATTLE OF DA'WAH AND THE MIRACLE OF NOAH ALAIHISSALAM
Noah Alaihissalam had some guidance from Allah to cleanse the faith of his people to worship only Allah. At that time, every human being had a long life. Noah became a prophet and an apostle at the age of 480. In the Qur’an it is mentioned that the age of Noah was 950 years.
Throughout his age, the Prophet Noah Alaihissalam preached and called tirelessly. Not only to the people around him but the main thing to his own family members. But unfortunately after preaching for almost 5 centuries, Noah only had a few followers, which is only about 70 to 80 people.
The followers of the Prophet Noah Alaihissalam consisted only of ordinary people, not distinguished and wealthy people. The unbelieving people of Noah did not like to be near and with them. They considered that their degrees were better than that of Noah and his followers.
The rejection of Noah's invitation not only came from his own people but also from his own closest family. His wife and his own biological son Kan’an. These two men openly opposed the teachings of Noah and influenced others not to follow the teachings of Noah Alaihissalam.
For the disobedient, Noah Alaihissalam was regarded only as a human being, and had no advantages whatsoever. That reason was used to disobey the teachings brought by Noah Alaihissalam.
The leaders of the disbelievers then said, will willingly follow the Prophet Noah Alaihissalam, on the condition that the followers of Noah consisting of despots be abandoned or left and expelled. Noah, of course, rejected these conditions.
The leaders of the disbelievers were upset and challenged Noah Alaihissalam. If their disobedience to Allah will bring a great punishment, then they ask Noah to hasten the coming of the punishment.
Noah then got guidance from Allah SWT, as well as the miracle of Noah Alaihissalam which was commanded by Allah to build a great ark. The ark is made of teak wood. The ark was then worked by Noah along with his followers.
The construction of the ark turned out to take a long time, reaching 40 years. During that time the Prophet Noah Alaihissalam tested his patience, facing his people who saw his work as the work of a madman, for building an ark on a hill in the desert.
According to Ibn Abbas, the ark of Noah was 1,200 cubits long, 600 cubits wide. The ark was made three levels, namely the first level, intended for animals, the second level for humans, the followers of the prophet Noah and the third level for the nation of birds. The top of the ark was also covered with wood cover.
Prophet Noah Alaihissalam then prayed to Allah SWT. He pleaded with Allah not to allow any of the disbelieving peoples and leaders to remain on Earth. If left alive, later they will cause many people to become lost and always do mischief.
After finishing making the ark on a hill in the middle of the desert for a period of forty years. So Allah commanded Noah to be ready. As a sign is, there will be water from the furnace in the kitchen of the house of Noah AS.
The exegetes interpret that the interpretation of at-Tannur as an oven (a tool for baking bread) in the house of Noah. When the water came out of the furnace and flowed, it was an order for Noah to move.
Then one day the furnace began to show its signs from within the house of Noah. Knowing this, Noah immediately opened his ark and invited the believers to ride it. Gabriel came down to earth. Noah carried birds, wild animals, animals in pairs, cows, elephants, ants, and others.
Jibril herds every two animals in pairs so that every animal species does not disappear from the face of the earth. According to the history of the first animal to climb is an old parrot, while the last animal is a donkey, told that the devil was hanging on the shoulders of a donkey.
This event Allah describes in the Qur’an Surat Hud verse 40, which means :
“Until when Our command came and the furnace sent out water, We said: ‘Make it into the ark of each pair of animals (male and female), and, and your families except those who preceded them and (forget) those who believed.’ And no faith with Noah except a little. “ (QS. Huds :40)
Noah's wife did not believe him so she did not board the boat, and one of her children, Kan’an, did not believe. Only 80 believers entered the ark. The land animals of God are collected on the first floor of the ship, while the second floor of man, and the third floor of the bird species. So that wild animals do not prey on tame animals, then God lower the fever to the wild animal.
After all the creatures that God has destined to enter the ship safely, and the door of the ship is closed, with His power, God sends down water from the sky and water from the earth. Water began to rise that came out of the cracks of the earth. There is not a single crack in the earth except water coming out of it.
In addition, from the direction of the sky began to fall very heavy and unprecedented rain water so heavy on the earth, including also afterwards there will be no more rain like that. The ocean is getting turbulent and the waves hit anything and swept the earth.
This event Allah SWT describes in the Quran which means :
“Then We open the doors of the sky with (lower) the water that poured out. And We have made the earth to shed springs of water, and the waters have been met for a matter which has been established. And We haughty Noah upwards (the ark) made of boards and nails.” (QS. Al-Qamar: 11-13)
The water continued to rise high up above the heads of humans, even beyond the height of trees, and mountain peaks. Finally, the entire surface of the earth is covered with water. It was the largest and largest flood and tsunami of all time. There is no flood of this magnitude until the end of the day.
THE STORY OF KAN’AN THE SON OF THE PROPHET NOAH
Noah Alaihissalam had four descendants. His eldest son was named Kan’an and his younger siblings were named Yafith, Sam and Ham. Before the punishment befell the people of Noah, Kan’an hid his hatred for his father and pretended to believe.
But when Azab arrived and a great flood surrounded all parts of the earth there appeared to be an iniquity of Kan’an. Allah dismantled his hypocrisy and did not include him in the group of survivors, so that when Noah's ark began to sail, Kan’an, the son of Noah Alaihissalam, do not want to get into the ship and still want to save themselves by swimming to the top of an unspoiled mountain. Kan’an believes that water is not possible until the top of the mountain.
When all the water has covered the earth, comes the instinct of affection of a father who finally made the Prophet Noah As with all his efforts to invite, to persuade and seduce Kan’an, his son was ready to go with him on the ark.
“Kan’an my son! Get on the boat with us! Do not die with infidels!”. Kan’an replied? “No Dad! I'll survive being on the top of that mountain”. Kan’an pongah
“Kan’an...listen to Daddy! No one can protect you from this situation other than Allah, the Most Merciful. (QS. Hud :42-43)
On the sidelines of the conversation between the father and the child, a huge wave suddenly appeared that blocked the two. Kan’an instantly vanished from the vision of Noah As. Noah sought, but He found nothing but the waves rising high. Noah As was very sad, he had lost his dear son. There is no surface of the earth left, all of it has sunk so that no human lives except the ones on the boat.
Noah was deeply saddened and regretted the tragic death of his son. He regretted why Kan’an did not follow his invitation. Noah wondered Why God did not save his son. Though Noah saw all this time Kan’an did not seem to refute his words. Apparently Nabi Noah did not realize that all this time Kan’an hid his disbelief.
Noah, who was very sad at that time, unwittingly said from his petition,
“Yes my Lord, my son is my family, and your promise is the truth. And You are the fair Judge”. (QS. Huds :45)
Allah SWT explained to Noah Alaihissalam,
“Hai Noah, actually Kan’an it is not including your family who was promised to be saved. Indeed his actions are not good. Therefore, do not ask Me for something that you do not know. I warn you not to be among the uninformed”. (QS. Huds :46)
At once Noah awoke and begged Allah for forgiveness.
THE FLOOD OF NOAH
Floods, hurricanes and tsunamis hit all parts of the world. There is no part of the earth that does not sink. One story describes the earth as a ball of water. All living things, plants, animals and humans are wiped out, none of them are left. After 150 days floating on the sea without limits, finally Allah SWT also gave the order to recede the water.
After the low tide, Noah landed safely on the Armenian hill of Judd. Noah went out with his followers from the ark. About 80 people who participated in the ark of Noah and the three children of Noah also came down. They along with the surviving animals begin their new lives.
Narrated all followers of the prophet Noah who participated in the ark of Noah will die without leaving a single descendant. Only Noah's sons Sam, Ham and Japhith had children. Until finally the entire human race that exists today are all descendants of the three of them. It is not surprising that Noah was also called the father of men.
Sam and his descendants were the forerunners of the Arabs, Yafith gave birth to Rum (Roman) and Ham produced descendants of the Habash (Ethiopians).
Thus the Complete Story of Noah and the Miracle of Noah in the form of making Noah's Ark is very large to be able to accommodate 80 people and other living things that are prepared to continue the new life of mankind after flash flood subsides.
The hope is that it can provide ibroh learning as well as strengthening our faith and spirit in practicing Islam in life.
The Prophet always filled the spirits of the Companions with one of them including the stories of the Prophets. These stories he got directly from Allah SWT, through the intermediary of the angel Gabriel. Through these stories Allah strengthens and strengthens the heart of the Prophet and his companions in restoring the glory of Islam.
Let us emulate this example of the Prophet to our sons, friends, and brothers, so that the glory of Islam will soon be realized on this earth. Aamyn
