Thamud is the name of a tribe that was temporarily incorporated into the Arab nation and some have classified them into the Jewish nation. 

They live on a plain called "Alhijir " it is located between Hejaz and Sham which formerly included the colony and controlled by the tribe of Aad who had perished swept away by the whirlwind sent by God in retaliation for their defiance and denial of proselytism and the Prophets Hud A.S.  The prosperity and luxury of life and the natural wealth once owned and enjoyed by the Aad people have been inherited by the Thamud.The fertile lands that give abundant results, the, the breeding beasts and the fat, the beautiful flower gardens, the buildings of houses erected on the flat ground and carved from the mountain.

All this makes them live in peace, prosperity and the Bahgia, secure from all natural disturbances and that the luxury of their lives will remain for them and their children.

The Thamud do not know God. Their Lord are idols whom they worship and worship, to whom they pray, where they ask for protection from all calamities and misfortunes and hope for good and happiness. They cannot see or think any further and what they can reach with the senses.

The Prophet Saleh Preached to the People of Thamud

Allah, the Most Merciful and the Most Merciful, will not allow His servants to be in constant darkness without the messenger of His side to enlighten and lead them out of the way the right path. Similarly, Allah will not send down punishment and punishment to a people before they are warned and shown by Him through the hand of one chosen to be His messenger and apostle. This Sunnatullah also applies to the people of Thamud, to whom the Prophet Saleh has sent a person who has been chosen from his own tribe, from a family that is respected and respected by his people, notoriously agile, notoriously agile, clever clever, humble and friendly in association.

Nabi Saleh warned them that he was a drp mrk, intertwined between himself and their family ties and blood. Mrk is his people and his relatives and he is a descendant and his tribe with mrk.He expects good and virtue for mrk and occasionally will not plunge mk into things that will bring harm, he said, misery and destruction for us. He explained to them that he was God's messenger and messenger, and what is taught and preached to them is the message of Allah which he must convey to them for their good during their lives and after they die in the Hereafter. He expects his people to consider and to consider what he calls and encourages and to leave offerings to them immediately and believe in believing in Allah the Most Merciful while repenting and repenting please forgive Him for sins and acts of shirk that have been done so far.Allah is very close to them to listen to their prayers and forgive the wrong when asked.

The climb of the virtuous people heard his call and preaching which for them was a new thing that was not expected to come from their own brother or son.Then simultaneously rejected the invitation of the Prophet of Saleh while saying them to him:"O Saleh! We know you are smart, agile and intelligent, your mind is sharp and your opinions and all considerations are always right. In you we see signs of virtue and of commendable qualities. We expect from you to lead us to solve the complex things we face, guide us in dark matters and follow us and trust us in times of crisis and hardship.However, all hope is lost and our trust in you slips today with your conduct and your conduct that violates our customs and living arrangements. What are you calling us? You want us to leave behind our offerings and our ancestors, the offering and the religion that has been our flesh and blood became part of our lives since we were born and remains a hold for ever.We will occasionally not abandon it because of your call and we will not follow you who that perverse. We don't believe your bullshit even doubt your prophethood. We will not disobey our ancestors by abandoning their offerings and following in your footsteps."

The prophet Saleh warned them not to resist him and to follow his invitation to believe in Allah, who has given him a great bread and a prosperous life. Tells the story of the people who received punishment from Allah for opposing His apostle and denying His message. The same thing can happen on top of them if they do not want to accept their preach and listen to their advice, which he gave sincerely and honestly as a member of a large family mrk and who did not expect or demand the wages of drp mrk for his efforts. He only conveys the message of God assigned to him and God will reward him for his efforts to give leadership and demands to them.

A small group of Thamudites, many of whom were of poor social standing, accepted the preach of the Prophet Saleh and believed in him, while the largest part was mainly rich and domiciled people remain obstinate and boast to reject the invitation of the Prophet Saleh and deny his prophethood and say to him:" O Saleh! We thought that you had been possessed by a demon and exposed to magic.You have become insane and suffer from madness. Your mind has changed and your mind has been so confused that you have unconsciously uttered words that make no sense and you may not understand them yourself. You acknowledge that you have been sent by your Lord as His prophet and apostle. What are your advantages over us that you are chosen to be an apostle, when there are those among us who are more worthy and more efficient to be prophets or apostles than you. Your purpose with empty talk and your words is only to pursue position and want to be appointed head and leader for your people.If you feel that you are healthy and healthy mind and confess that you do not have the direction and purpose veiled in your preaching then stop your efforts to spread your new religion by reviling our offerings and your own ancestors.We will not follow your path and leave the path that the people have taken we got old first.

The Prophet Saleh replied: "I have repeatedly told you that I do not expect anything from you in return for my efforts to guide and enlighten you. I do not expect a reward or a position of rank and rank for my efforts, which I do solely by the command of God and His commandments, I will expect a recompense and reward for. And how can I follow you and pass on the duty and commission of the Lord to me, yet I have no clear proof of the truth of my preaching.You occasionally expect that I will break the commandments of my Lord and neglect my duty to Him only to continue the offering of our fathers bathil. Who will protect me from the wrath and torment of the Lord if I do so? Verily you will only harm and destroy me with your cry."

After failing and succeeding in stopping the proselytizing of Nabi Saleh and seeing him he even more actively attract people to follow him and side with him the leaders and leaders of the Tsamud trying to stem the flow of his preaching more and more long getting more attention, especially among the middle subordinates in society. He opposed the Prophet Saleh and to prove his prophetic truth with a proof of a miracle in the form of an extraordinary object or event that was beyond the power of man.

Allah Gave Miracles to the Prophet Saleh A. S.

Nabi Saleh realized that the opposition of his people who demand proof of his miracle is aimed at eliminating his influence and eroding his authority in the eyes of his people, especially his followers if he failed to meet the opposition and demands mrk. The prophet Saleh countered their opposition by demanding a promise with them if he succeeded in bringing a miracle which they asked that they would renounce their religion and their offerings and would follow the Prophet Saleh and believe in him.

In accordance with the requests and instructions of the leaders of the Thamud pray, the Prophet Saleh asked God to give him a miracle to prove the truth of his treatise and at the same time break the resistance and opposition of his people who are still stubborn. He pleaded from God with His power to make a female camel come out of the belly of a large rock on the side of a hill to which they were pointing. Then, with the permission of Allah, the All-Powerful, the All-Creator, split the rock and came out of the belly of a female camel.

And pointing to the beast that had just come out of the belly of the great rock, the prophet Saleh said to them: "This is the camel of Allah, do not disturb him, and let him seek his own food on the earth, God has his turn to drink water, and you have your turn to drink for you and for your livestock, and know that Allah will send down His punishment if you disturb this beast."

Then roam the camels in the fields to eat the grass as they please without getting disturbed. And when his drinking turn came, the camel went to a well named camel and drank to his full heart. And in those days the camel of the prophet Saleh came to drink, and no other beast dared to come, which causes displeasure to the owners of the beast who increasingly feel that the camel of the Prophet Saleh in their midst is a disturbance like a thorn that runs through the throat.

With the success of Nabi Saleh mendtgkan miracles that demanded the leaders of the Tsamud failed in his efforts to drop the honor and eliminate the bearers of Nabi Saleh even on the contrary has increased the confidence of his followers and disappeared a lot doubts of his people. So incited by the cattle owners who are irritated and unhappy with the camel of Nabi Saleh rampant in the fields and gardens and feared by his pets.

A conspiracy was organized by the people of Thamud to organize the planned killing of the camel of the Prophet Saleh. And while the people are still overshadowed by the fear of the torment threatened by the prophet Saleh when his camel is disturbed in addition to the strong urge to eliminate the beast from the earth, suddenly a wealthy noble widow appeared and offered to surrender herself to the one who could kill the camel of Saleh. Next to the widow was another woman who had several beautiful daughters offering to present one of her daughters to the one who had killed the camel.

Two attractive gifts from the two women in addition to the incitement of the leaders of Tsamud invited two men named Mushadda bin Muharrij and Gudar bin Salif to pack a murder for the prize promised in addition to the praise and praise he would receive from the infidels of the tribe of Thamud if the camel of the Prophet Saleh had been killed.

With the help of seven more men hide the group somewhere where it is usually passed by camels on its way to the well where it drinks. And so the innocent camels were immediately cut off by Musadda, followed by Gudar, with his sword in his belly.

With great and proud feelings, the camel killers went to the capital to convey the news of the death of the camel of Nabi Saleh who received cheers and shouts of joy from the polytheists as if they were returning from the battlefield with a glorious victory.

Said the brand to the Prophet Saleh:" O Saleh! The camel has been killed, try to bring what you said first to the threat if it is disturbed, if you really belong to those who are too righteous in its words."

The prophet Saleh said: "I have warned you that Allah will send down His punishment upon you if you disturb the camel. And with the slaughter of the camel, wait for the coming of the torment which Allah has promised and I have delivered to you, You have defied Allah, and you will accept it as a result of your opposition to Him misshapen .You can have fun and have fun during these three days and then receive your equal reward on the fourth day. Such is the will of Allah and His commandment which cannot be delayed or hindered."

It is possible that according to the interim exegetes that Allah through His apostle, the prophet Saleh gave three days to give an opportunity, just in case you are aware of his sin and repent and believe in the Prophet Saleh in his treatise. But in reality the three days were even the subject of ridicule to the Prophet Saleh whom he opposed in order to hasten the coming of the torment and not to be suspended for three more days.

The Descendence of Allah the Promised

The prophet Saleh told his people that the torment of Allah that will be on them will be preceded by signs, that is, on the first day when they wake up from their sleep, they will find their faces yellow and turn red on the second day and black on the third day, and on the fourth day the torment of Allah falls grievous.

Threatening the punishment which the prophet Saleh told his people of nine groups of camel killers planned the murder of Nabu Saleh before the arrival of the threatened punishment.Mrk held a secret meeting and swore together will carry out the murder plan at night, while people are still sleeping soundly to avoid blood demands by the family of Nabi Saleh, if known their identity as the killer. Their plan was kept secret so that it was not known and heard by anyone but the nine men themselves.

When they came to the place of the prophet Saleh to carry out his wicked plan in the dark and silent night fell upon their heads great stones unknown from which it came and who instantly lay them on the ground in a state of lifelessness. Thus Allah has shielded His apostle from the evil deeds of His disbelieving servants.

One day before the appointed day of the punishment, with the permission of Allah, the Prophet went with his believers to Ramlah, a place in Palestine, leaving Hijir and its inhabitants, the people of Thamud perished, with a terrible thunderbolt, along with a terrible earthquake.

The Story of the Prophet in the Quran

The story of Nabi Saleh is told by 72 verses in 11 surahs among them Surah Al-Araaf, verses 73 to 79, surah "Hud" verse 61 up to verse 68 and surah "Al-Qamar " verses 23 through verse 32.

Teaching From the Story of Prophet Saleh A.S.

The prominent teaching that can be quoted from the story of Prophet Saleh is that the sins and actions committed by a small group of people can have negative consequences that destroy the community as a whole.  See how the Thamudites perish, disintegrate and even wash from the earth because of the sins and transgressions of the commandments of Allah committed by some of the camel-killers of the Prophet Saleh A. S.

Herein lies the wisdom of God's command that we do amar makruf nahi mungkar. Because by doing the task of amar makruf nahi mungkar who became the fardu kifayah, at least if it does not succeed in preventing the turmoil that occurs in society and our protection ,we have freed ourselves from the sin of approving or condoning that deed

Being passive indifferent to the actions and the weaknesses that occur in front of the eyes can be interpreted as approval and fellowship against the actions of the mungkar.
