THE PROTECTOR
Chap 21's

“Do not think we do not know what you have done to the Garrison family,” taunted Aaron, “they have warned us prepare ourselves for bloodshed.”

“Why should you anger the Garrison family?  Do you want to get yourself killed? ” Caitlyn and Aaron are furious.

"If it wasn't for Zoey, I would have kicked you out of our house a long time ago."  Aaron spat so angrily that his veins protruded around his neck, "You could be sleeping on the streets right now!"

Zoey did not want to aggravate her parents' hostility towards Levi, but she felt Levi had acted too rashly as well.

‘We were lucky to have Azure Dragon save us this time.  But what if next time?  Will we be lucky again?’

"Who dare you step on the Garrison's foot?"  Caitlyn glared at Levi with total disdain, "You don't even have a place to live by yourself!"

“Bu, Levi actually has a villa..”. Zoey tries to explain to her mother that Levi just got her villa back, but Caitlyn suddenly cuts her off, “Don't talk nonsense about her villa.  He's just a time bomb, you don't have to hang out with him all the time anymore.  I'd rather you use your time to find investors instead!

“You should know very well that the Garrison family was untouched, not even the Lopez family was worthy of holding a candle for them.  We'll be cursed if the Garrison decides to attack us.  I warn you, Levi, I will make Zoey ask for divorce with you if you dare to anger the Garrison family again!”

Next day.

Zoey and Levi plan to find investors for their upcoming project.  They'll leave the house when Caitlyn reminds Zoey, “Nearly National holiday and your cousin will come to spend the holiday with us.  Can you go and pick him up because your father and I are too busy with our duties?”

“Sure, mother.”

Levi knew Aaron and Caitlyn were busy at the moment.  Caitlyn works at a hospital while Aaron has just started a small business. It was another frustrating day for Zoey.  Every investor he had met rejected his proposal.

However, Levi watched it calmly without intervening.  All he did was take down the names of the companies that had rejected Zoey's proposal.

A series of unlucky days for Zoey has left her with no choice but to hold on to her project for as long as she can, as she can't get the investment she needs to start her project.  It was only three days away from the start date of the project, as stipulated in the contract.

It really made Zoey very depressed. Aaron and Caitlyn were exasperated and put worried expressions on their faces.

“Don't worry too much, Mom, Dad.”  Levi smiled calmly, "I'm sure investors will come when the time comes." He said it with confidence, because he knew he had made all the necessary arrangements.

The doorbell rings.  They were surprised to see Shaun at their doorstep.

“It's great that you're all here, Uncle Aaron and Aunt Caitlyn.  Grandpa wants you all to come for a family meeting tonight.” Shaun immediately left after he delivered the message.

 Soon, Levi, Zoey and her parents come to the Lopez family compound. It was a vast complex consisting of several buildings.  Its structure and scale is one of the most prosperous and luxurious in North Hampton.

Zoey immediately felt hostility in the appearance of the Lopez family members as they greeted her.  It was as if he had just snatched away the love of their lives.

Zoey and her family are aware that they are no longer seen as part of the Lopez family anymore, now, they are seen as enemies who have taken their cake and brooded it all for themselves.

“Come here, Aaron and you guys.  Please sit down."  Harry and the others greeted them with unusual hospitality.

"How's your project, Zoey?"  Harry asked after everyone sat down.

"There's a big problem with funding, grandpa!"  Zoey sighed, "We only have three days left from the start date but I haven't tied up investors for the project."

“Hahaha….Didn't I tell you that this is too big a project for a small company like Imperial Meadows?”

“That's right, it's good you know your own limits.  Don't act like a big gun when you're just a soft, limp fry! ”

Everyone started to ridicule Zoey when they heard about her funding problem. Zoey and her family can only hold their sarcasm in silence because she cannot do any defense to reprimand them.  The lack of funding has now put his entire project in jeopardy.
