THE PROTECTOR

THE PROTECTOR
Chap 22's

"I'm a little offended, Zoey."  Harry smiled sadly, "How can you forget your own family?"

“Grandpa, i.”.

“You should have come to me instead.  Lopez's group can do something for you.  You know we're good at being able to take on your Ecological Park project. ”

“I can even provide initial capital for your project!”  harry said seriously.

"I'm sure you have some conditions attached to it?"  Levi brought it straight to the point.  "Or you won't be kind enough to give me the funds." He has seen Harry's ulterior motives for funding the project.

“Good, I like dealing with smart people.”  Harry grinned, "That will save me a lot of time."

His words prompted Samuel Robertson, who was sitting next to Harry, to hand over the contract to Zoey.

"Look at this, Zoey." Zoey soon learns of the contract when they give it to her.

It's very clear.

The contract states that the Lopez Group will get up to ninety percent of the profits of the Ecological Park project to provide funds to Imperial Meadows Limited.

It made Aaron very angry after he read the contract. Lopez's family was too ruthless to ask for most of the profits.

Aaron's really upset.  He felt that Harry never thought of him as his own son, but just another prey he targeted.

“Do not get angry, Aaron and Zoey.  Think about it, within three days, the project will be cancelled automatically if you can't find the funds. ” Harry's grin is sneaky and destructive, as if he's trying to lure a bait into a hook, “You'll end up without a single cent after the project is cancelled.  But if you receive our funds, you can still get a ten percent cut of the profits.  That means a sizable sum of a hundred million.  It is up to you to decide ... "

“Unless you are sure to get the required funds before the specified time limit.”

Given the tight deadline of just three days, Harry was pretty sure that it was almost impossible for Zoey to get the funding she needed for the project.  This would only make him have no other choice but to agree to his terms.

That would make the Lopez family the biggest winners with a ninety percent profit.  Even Tian Jennings could do nothing.

"That's right, Aaron."  Henry interrupts, “We have to work together because we are family.  Let's share the advantages of having a cake for yourself.”

“No need to rush to sign this.  I'll leave you alone to discuss it amongst yourselves.”

Harry and the others leave Levi, Zoey, and his parents to talk about things.

Their words almost swayed Zoey to put her name on the contract.  But he held back and asked Levi for his opinion.

"Don't sign it!"  Levi insisted.

“Trust me, Zoey!  I'm sure I can secure the funds you need before the deadline expires!”

Aaron angrily replied straight away before Zoey could even answer, “Don't give me that shit again!  Can we be sure you're responsible if we lose a hundred million?  I'm pretty sure we should sign it.”

Zoey was in a dilemma as she looked at Levi skeptically.  He did not have full confidence in Levi's words.

“Alright, how about this?”  Levi shrugged, "Since we have three more days, why don't we wait until the last day to see if we can attract investment?"  he suggested, “It is still not too late to sign the contract back then.”

"Good idea!"

"I agree with that!" Everyone gave a nod of their approval.

The same goes for Harry and his men.  They agree to this advice easily. They are confident that Zoey will never get the investment she so desperately needs in just three days.

 …

Over the next three days, Zoey worked tirelessly from day to night to meet with potential investors for the project.

However, nothing can be shown for all his efforts. Those who are interested demand ridiculous amounts of returns for their investments.

It would make more sense to work with Harry, as his offer was more or less the same than the others. Three days passed without a trace.  The deadline to start the project is set tomorrow before ten, after passing the specified time, the project will be cancelled automatically.

"Come, we have to sign Harry now."  Aaron stood up and said.

“Why rush?  Why don't we wait a little longer?”  Levi tried to dissuade them from signing, "We have until eight o'clock the next morning to sign it."

“We wait until tomorrow morning, Zoey.  Don't sign the contract today."  Levi instructed.

"I'm out for a minute."  Levi leaves the house after she urges Zoey to remain patient for another night.
