THE PROTECTOR
Chap 5's

Everyone laughed sillyly at Levi's question.

“Do you think your family is eligible for an invitation?  Have you ever contributed to the Lopez family?”  Shaun replied directly.

"Yes!  Dream on!  Could you guys be more shameless about hoping to receive an invitation? ” Henry asked without guilt.

Zoey and her parents have given up on all expectations. They looked at Levi with looks of disdain in their eyes.

 However, Levi gave a cold snort.  “ This invitation was given to you guys because of me!  I intend to give it to my in-laws.”

“Bominy, Levi!”  Fabian exploded.  “Clearly, Samuel got this invitation through his connections.  What does this have to do with you ?! ”

"Yes!  Who do you think you are?"  Samuel's anger was mounting.  “How dare you try to take credit for this?"

Soon after, Henry pointed at Aaron.  “Look at your son-in-law, Aaron!  Do something to him, and don't take him to our next family banquet!  We cannot tolerate such humiliation!”

Levi was about to say something when Zoey pulled him out.  "Come with me!!!" He could not help it anymore as streams of sadness flowed down his face.

“Levi, please, don't embarrass me again.  I really can't survive if you keep this up!”

Levi wiped his tears and asked, "Do you want to attend that banquet, Zoey?"

 “Who wouldn't want to?  Didn't you see the look in Dad and Mom's eyes?”  zoey said with annoyance.  "But there's nothing we can do, even if we want to go.  It's not like you can get us in, right? ”

"I can!"  Levi said firmly.

It's too much for Zoey to handle.  His emotions flared up, and he turned around, trying to leave her.

"Zoey, why don't you trust me?"  Levi asked.

"How can I trust you when you act like this?"  Zoey answered by turning the question over.

Levi chuckled.  “I will definitely take you in.  I, Levi Garrison, am the one who kept my promise!”

Zoey nodded. "Okay, I'll believe you this once! If you can't do it, we're done! "

"Buck!"

"Alright, I'll hand it to you this time" Zoey said resolutely as she wiped her tears.

"I don't need this stupid pride! I will continue to attend this family banquet and tell everyone that my husband is able to get an invitation for tomorrow's banquet as well! "

"Okay, ladiest first. I'd like to call first."

...

"Azure Dragon, tell Jesse, I'll attend his banquet tomorrow" Levi said as the call passed.

"What's? So, you agreed to attend the banquet? Thank God! The superiors are so worried that you won't give Jesse this! "

"Yes, I'll be there. But please remove some people from this event ... "

" Ready, sir! I'll arrange it now! "

Levi saw Zoey holding her head high, looking as proud as a peacock. It was clear that he had made the announcement as many pairs of eyes were fixated on him.

"Say, how do you think the trash got the invitation? By stealing? "

"Who knows if he bought it for the sake of pretending!" Samuel laughing.

"Don't you guys know that one invitation costs more than a million?"

"Aaron's family owes about three million. How can they buy invitations? " At that time, dinner was served, marking the start of the family banquet.

"I think they can each get a bowl of noodles. No need to serve them. What do you think? " Henry asked.

Samuel laughing. "Give them food. Otherwise, it would look like grandfather was molesting them. "

"All right then."

Aaron glanced at Samuel, then returned to Levi, sighing, “What's the point of envy?  That's my destiny!"

Caitlyn glared at Levi.  Is today the most embarrassing day?

However, they did not dare to leave without the old man's permission and could only continue to suffer from humiliation in an awkward silence.

At that moment, Samuel came with a glass of wine, followed by a group of people he had paid the court. He walked past Levi and stood in front of Zoey.  “I'll introduce my brother to you, Zoey.  He's much better than me!  But it seems you're not lucky enough to enjoy a good life.  It's a pity you have bad taste in men!"

Aaron and Caitlyn sighed.

If Levi doesn't show up, Zoey will be with Chris, and her family will be rich again.

How amazing is that?

But unfortunately, it seems like we are haunted by poverty!

Soon, the family banquet was over.

“Let's go to my house.  I'd like to have a good talk with my daughter-in-law's granddaughter regarding the future development of the Lopez family and tomorrow's banquet.  You all need to sit and listen.  It'll be good for you" Harry ordered.

Aaron and Caitlyn look at Harry with hope, hoping the Lopez family will help ease their current livelihood.

But then Harry replied, "Aaron, you can go back on your own!"

Aaron was a little hesitant.  “Dad, but I..”.

“No ignition!  We don't need you here.  Anyway, your good son-in-law just got back from prison.  I don't want him to tarnish my place with bad luck!”  harry said, then went with the others.

Before leaving, Samuel, Melanie, and a few others stood in front of Levi, waving invitation cards in their hands.  “Don't disappoint me tomorrow night.  Don't tell me you know me if you can't get in. I don't want to throw my reputation into the gutter.”

Levi chuckled.  "You'll never know who can't get in when the time comes."

"All right then.  We'll look forward to that. ”

Everyone left happily with the invitation card in their hands, leaving Aaron and his family sighing and moaning.

Aaron glanced at Levi deeply. If only he could bring honor to the family ...

It's unfortunate that he just got out of prison.  Even surviving was a problem for him.

Afterwards, Levi follows Zoey home.

Compared to the Garrison family, this was his home—a house where a woman had been waiting for him for six years.

Returning home, Levi took the initiative to put the mattress on the floor, but Zoey instead let her sleep on the bed.

After that, she lay on the bed while Zoey continued to compose her recan on the table.

"What are you doing?"  Levi asked.

“I am drafting a proposal for an ecological park development project in Western City.  Even if the chance of success is not even one percent, I will try my best to win this offer!”  Zoey smile.

The night passed, not once did Zoey complain about her, nor did she show a face of disappointment.

But he couldn't help anything, according to him the welcome banquet was the key to everything.

“Levi Garrison, I trust you so much and risk everything for you.  But where's the invitation?  How can I believe it now? I thought you'd come up with an idea to bring us in, but you didn't get out of this house or call when we got home last night.  Do you think that invitation would just fall from the sky? ”

Aaron and Caitlyn added, “What are you waiting for?  Zoey made a big promise last night.  If you don't make this happen, there won't be a place for us to stay in the Lopez family again.”

Levi glanced at the clock.  “It's almost time.  You guys just have to follow me!”

Driving at Aaron's Haval, they arrived at Paradise Villa, where the God of War welcome banquet was held.

"Zoey, I'll prove to you now that I can do it!" Levi pulled Zoey and headed towards the entrance.
