The End of The Game

The day of Raya's funeral was the last time Fabian met his friends. The night after he drove Blue home, Fabian decided to cut off access with his friends—without exception. He also no longer appears on campus, deciding to go out to celebrate the greatest heartbreak of his mother's passing.

Today, exactly a week passed, Fabian finally made a much bigger decision.

Canadian. He's going to go there.

Three days earlier, Jeffrey came to visit his home. The man insisted on opening the door, although Fabian had told him many times to leave because he was lazy to meet.

Until the end, Fabian was forced to open the door because he could not bear to see Jeffrey standing under the heavy rain. Lightning snatched, its lightning even resembled a blinding camera blitz. In addition, the wind was also blowing quite hard, so Fabian was worried that Jeffrey might get hurt if left to stay outside the gate of his house.

Without intending to offer the man to enter the house for the sake of his body's horrifying first, Fabian directly poked him with the question “What's wrong?” and that he would only give the man 15 minutes to express all his intentions. Done unfinished, he'll kick Jeffrey out after the 15 minutes he gave up.

The wound in his heart was still too wet, it was too early to engage more with the father who had completely disowned his existence for 20 more years.

That night, on the dark porch of his house because the headlights were accidentally not turned on, he and Jeffrey sat down with separate round tables. As much as possible, he ran away looking the other way, not wanting to face Jeffrey for fear that there would be pity when he saw the eyes of the gentleman.

The first three minutes of the 15 minutes he gave Fabian still heard nothing. Jeffrey was instead caught staring at him and faintly, Fabian could see a few drops of tears falling onto the man's pale cheeks. Until then, entering the fourth minute, the man pulled out a brown map that he wrapped in clear plastic so as not to be exposed to rain water.

The map was then presented to him, as the man showed gestures for him to open the map to peek at the contents inside.

At first, Fabian refused. He did not want to find any other facts that might make his wound worse. But then, Jeffrey said that the contents in the map were relics of the Kingdom. The last hope that the woman wants to realize before death finally embraces the woman in eternity.

Everything about Raya and how the woman's life went had been the thing Fabian always preferred. So when Jaffrey said that, he finally grabbed the map and opened it slowly.

Apparently, the map contains 2 plane tickets to Jakarta to Canada, 2 visas, 2 passports and several pieces of cash. Fabian, who still did not understand why the objects were handed to him, turned to Jeffrey, asking for further explanation.

“You're supposed to fly to Canada, 3 more days. I have prepared everything, and Raya has also agreed to take this decision. There, you should be able to start a new sheet, without being overshadowed by fear about Sera.” Jeffrey explained at length. Regret was evident from the look in the man's eyes. However, even though Fabian knew, he tried not to care.

“Mama I want us to go there?” ask her in a flat voice and seem cold. His gaze was again fixed on the visa and passport in the name of himself and the mother. Then wonder, since when was all this prepared without his knowledge?

“Iya. I want to start a new life with you there. And I. .. I had intended, even to fake your death to make Sera believe that there was nothing more she had to worry about you guys.”

What Fabian captures from Jeffrey's remarks only comes down to the statement that his mother wants them to move to Canada. The rest, he didn't listen. Because the question of Sera and everything that surrounds the devil under the guise of an angel, did not interest him at all.

The 15 minutes he promised Jeffrey were over. And since he was not the typical one who liked to break promises, then he immediately got up from his seat before the other minutes went on. Everything he took out of the map he put back in, then he kept the map on his side.

“Thank you for delivering my mom's last message. Please go home, be careful on the road.” He said to Jeffrey, then without caring about the man actually leaving or just staying pensive in his place, Fabian left the porch. He went into the house, then closed the big door and locked it tightly-apat— - as well as his heart which now could not be hijacked by anyone.

Three days passed, and here he is now. Standing in line, waiting for the verification process so that he can fly using a prepared plane. Tickets, visas and passports belonging to the Kingdom he also brought with him. In addition, he also brought Raya's mobile phone and journal book which since the first day he found, he always kept close by his side.

Every now and then, he would look back, as if he were saying goodbye to his beloved friends whom he could not directly convey.

That afternoon, when the Jakarta sky was dominated by beautiful pink and blue, Fabian swung his steps towards a new chapter of life. Without his mother, without friends who are always by his side, also without Sabiru—the girl who had stolen his attention first.

...****************...

Meanwhile, Fabian's departure, unknown to anyone, leaves a huge void, especially for the remaining members of Pain Killer—Reno and Juan. Both are living their days in a wave of uncertainty. See if Baskara— who also missed from the lecture— and Fabian will decide to return to campus after their condition improves.

Thanks to that, Reno's tension rose dramatically. He did not understand why the world— and the humans in it—so quickly changed. Up until a week ago, they were even still being hailed, revered as if they were the Great Gods who came down to earth to spread joy. But now, they are instead reviled, showered with swear sentences that for life, they never expected to get.

“Well, the Baskara couplet turned out to be right. His existence in Pain Killer is no joke. Now, when there is no him, we are only considered trash.” Juan commented. As always, there are always cigarettes and a can of alcoholic beverages accompanying when they are in emergency mode.

“They are trash.” Sahut Reno's. He drank his alcohol, then returned to the window. The color of the sky up there looks beautiful, inversely proportional to their tacky mood.

Then, back to silence. At the headquarters, where they usually spend time discussing important matters related to betting, this afternoon they even spend to reflect on many things. To their knowledge, Baskara and Fabian's relationship deteriorated because Sera was the perpetrator of the murder of Raya. They do not know that there is another problem that is much more serious.

“Baskara still don't tell you anything?” Juan came closer. Returning from Raya's funeral, the boy was still preaching, sending the last location of the place where he was after escaping because Reno insisted. But the next morning, the boy disappeared, as if swallowed by the earth.

When Juan tries to send a message, the bubble chat he sent just ends tick one. “Or maybe Blue? He also didn't tell you anything?” continued.

“Blue 3 days without class.” Reno said in a lethargic manner. Right now, there was really nothing they could do but continue waiting for news from their two friends

Along with the clouds in the twilight sky that were drifting away, Reno and Juan again could only sigh deeply together.

...****************...

In a quiet corner of the city, Baskara spent his afternoon in a long silence. There was no honking sound, the sound of the roar of vehicles that were mutually disjointed, let alone the noise of his friends who were noisy fighting over drinks.

In this place, a former field of mangkrak apartment construction project, Baskara was completely left alone.

Cigarette butts scattered before him, filling the tall green grass that was already about to touch his calf. So thick the grass, if he decided to die here, maybe no one would find his body before only his skeleton remained.

But, he didn't come for it.

Baskara came here to say goodbye, to the sweet memories she had carved with her friends over the past few years. He was too cowardly to deliver that farewell directly, so he came here. Shouting like a madman, hoping the wind that blows his body is willing to convey his message to friends who are far from his reach.

He'll run away, just think of it. Being in this city will only make him sicker. Making him feel even more guilty for things he may not have the right to admit as his fault.

Maybe one year, or two, or even three. I don't know. Baskara did not plan exactly how long he would escape. For whatever time he had to take, if it could bring him back in a better state, then it felt like he would not mind.

Not far. He will not go abroad because the kepalang promised Sabiru to keep accompanying the girl no matter what. God had kindly given him the chance to have Sabiru again, so he should not have done no self-knowing by releasing the girl for the second time.

So, the most appropriate decision he felt he could take was to go with the girl. To take him away, because that's the only way his escape agenda isn't too excessive.

Or actually, he had instead returned the girl to where she should have been?

Because they will go to Surabaya. The actual win solution was first offered by Sabiru.

“Gue says, guys.” He said last time, before finally getting up after picking up his cigarette butts and taking him away. He'll throw it away after finding the trash can later. Or if he could, he would keep it, as a memento before he actually left.
