Upon arrival at the hospital, Sera finds Jeffrey has arrived. The man stood in front of Baskara's ward, turning his back to the two guards who were still obediently standing where they were.
"Where from?" asked the man, it only sounded like a pleasantry that was not accompanied by any concern at all.
"There's business for a moment" Sera replied briefly. With no intention of building more chatter with her husband, Sera breaks through Jeffrey's strapping body and goes straight into Baskara's nursery.
Inside, on a comfortable bed, Baskara fell asleep. The young man slept tilted to the right, facing the door with one hand as a pillow. His face was not as pale as it was this morning when he was first found in the rooftop, but the boy still looked so exhausted.
Sera walked closer to the bed. With a very slow movement, he dropped his butt on the chair. His eyes could not be separated from the face of the son, until then his outstretched hand rubbed Baskara's cheeks that looked more thin than a few months before.
A mother's instinct has brought Sera drowning in her own feelings. The rubs that he gave to his son's cheeks now also spread to the forehead, hair, and even the sturdy shoulders of the son who was drooping sluggishly.
Sera conscious. Very aware that his son had gone through a lot of pain because of him. Due to his inability to keep Jeffrey on their side the last few years. And even now that Jeffrey is back, Sera knows the inner wounds that Baskara suffered have been exposed, too difficult to heal.
So all Sera can try now is to present the long-lost figure of Jeffrey, and get rid of one by one things that will make the man back to withdraw the limit and make his son suffer even more.
"You're asking the two guards in front of you to stop anyone from coming in besides us?" the movement of Sera's hand that was stroking Baskara's hair strands came to a halt. He looked at Jeffrey who was now standing next to him.
"Yes," he replied quietly, deliberately lowering his tone so as not to disturb the son's deep sleep.
"Why?"
Sera completely keeps her hands away from Baskara's hair. He then rotated his sitting position to be able to look at Jeffrey more easily, although he still had to look up extra because Jeffrey did not pull a chair to sit next to him. "What's the reason?" he asked back.
"Why did it have to get to that? You don't want that Baskara's friends coming to see you?"
"Yes, what is the reason? What is the more reasonable reason? Tell me," challenge Jeffrey.
"Something threatens Baskara's safety." Cut Sera fast. His gaze on Jeffrey began to sharpen, along with emotions that slowly rose because Jeffrey kept thinking badly of him.
"meaning?" Jeffrey's confused. "Who's threatening Baskara's safety?"
"There's." Answer Sera. "And all you can do is accuse me of being a no-no," was immeasurably Sera's disappointment with Jeffrey. Just because of an illegitimate child, her husband had changed a lot, and was slowly becoming a stranger.
"Let's know who I am,"
Sera smiled disdainfully, then she got up from her seat only to challenge Jeffrey with her cynical eyes. "No need. After all, you never cared if my son was hurt or not."
"Don't start,"
"You don't start." Sera growling. Almost release let out a high note if only he did not while glancing at Baskara to peek at the condition of the son.
Breathing in and throwing it away slowly was the only way Sera could take to calm herself down. After succeeding, he returned to his sitting position, touching again the face of the son with affection. "Everything will be okay, I'll take care of it. The only thing you need to think about now is how to heal the wounds that were in my son's heart, for your departure six years ago."
"Our son," Jeffrey corrected. Hearing Sera constantly mention Baskara with my son made the guilt that he fertilized in the chest grow more fertile and torturous.
There was no word from Sera, as if the woman was suddenly deaf and the presence of Jeffrey was just like dust flying in the wind from the air conditioner set at medium temperature.
