"Hello,"
At least, it took more than six seconds for Jeffrey to digest the greeting voice from across the phone, and eventually concluded that it did not belong to his son, Baskara. Jeffrey had not talked to Baskara for a long time over the phone, but it did not immediately make him forget the voice of his own son.
"Hello?" greet the man again, making Jeffrey excited because he was not fully aware of the daydream.
"What's up, Om?" ask the voice, which Jeffrey later realized was Fabian's voice.
Jeffrey did not answer immediately, and instead glanced at Sera who was sitting on the sofa in the living room while watching her who was calling. A while ago, while he was busy in the study, Sera suddenly barged in, and without a shadow asked him to call Baskara who did not come home until dawn.
"Omm?" tagih Fabian's.
"Baskara's there?" he asked, and from there, he knew there was a change in expression on Sera's face that was so noticeable. The woman is increasingly suspicious, and Jeffrey has no time to explain when Fabian is back on his feet.
"Baskara there's Om, but it's pat." Fabian.
"Where are you guys? On Mega?"
"Yes, Om."
"Okay, please take care of Baskara for a moment, I'm going there now pick her up."
"Oh .. okay, Om."
"Thank you" Jeffrey ended the call. The phone he put in his pants pocket, then he walked over to Sera who was still not moving from her position.
"That kid?" todong Sera direct.
Jeffrey nodded, for it was also useless that he lied to Sera. The woman is clearly untrustworthy, and Jeffrey also doesn't want to make things any more complicated.
"I picked up Baskara" Sera got up from her seat, but Jeffrey immediately restrained her movements.
"Jeff, man,"
"I did" said Jeffrey. For the first time in a long time, he again dared to let out that tone of voice to Sera. "Just pick up Baskara, it won't be weird." Reciprocity.
Hearing that, Sera snorted. Too much has happened in her life and Jeffrey, who made it no longer easy to believe in all her husband's words.
Realizing Sera did not answer his words and instead looked at him sharply, Jeffrey moved closer. Both of Sera's shoulders he touched, he gave a soft rub as their eyes looked at each other. "I promise I won't interact with the kid again, okay?" he said, in a soft tone.
Sera did not immediately believe, but she nodded her head. With a slow motion, he rewinded, making Jeffrey's hand fall off his shoulder. "But if you lie, I will not hesitate to make the child disappear from the world." Threatened him.
Unlike how Jeffrey always responds to his threats with overflowing emotions, Sera instead finds Jeffrey smiling while nodding his head.
"You go back to sleep, don't wait for me to be with Baskara." Jeffrey said, again in a soft voice.
"I'm waiting for you guys to make sure Baskara's okay."
"Yes, yes. I'm walking now, yeah."
Sera thought, seeing Jeffrey's sweet smile and his soft voice when speaking was already something strange. But apparently, there is something even stranger, which is when Jeffrey knowingly peeked his forehead briefly before passing away from before him.
...****************...
Baskara and Fabian looked at each other for a few seconds when they found Jeffrey walking in from the front door of the club. His beautiful parasites and his body that still looks sturdy at his age which is no longer young, the presence of Jeffrey makes some eyes fixated long enough towards him. Maybe they think, who is that handsome om-om figure, and what does that have to do with Gerald?
"That's really why I'm?" whispered Baskara to Fabian.
"If I see the way things are, yes." Sahut Fabian.
Baskara was grieving, then squeaked for a while towards Fabian who was giggling at the annoyed facial expression he showed.
"Oi!" Baskara reflexes. Then, when his gaze with Jeffrey met, where the man was already standing looming in front of him and Fabian, Baskara could only chuckle while scratching his neck misbehaving. "Eh, Papa." said he, still grinning the horse.
Fabian who sat beside him also chuckled, feeling intrigued by Baskara's behavior.
"Let's go home, Mama's been waiting for you from earlier." Jeffrey reached out his hand, making Baskara turn back to Fabian with a puzzled look.
"Bas?"
"Yes, yes." Jeffrey's hand was greeted by Baskara. And because of the alcohol that the young man drank quite a lot, his body staggered when forced to stand suddenly. Fortunately Jeffrey has strong muscles, so he can hold Baskara's body so as not to fall to the floor.
"All you Fabian's anterin?" asked Baskara after successfully standing up properly.
"Fabian takes a taxi, huh? You see, Mama had been nagging" said Jeffrey as he pulled Baskara's arm to stand beside him.
"But, right-"
"I brought Baskara home first, thank you for helping him take care of him earlier." Jeffrey told Fabian, cutting off Baskara's unfinished speech.
"Yes, Om. Be careful on the road," Fabian replied accompanied by a pleasantry smile.
But strangely, the smile was not at all welcoming. Jeffrey breezed away just like that, bringing with him Baskara whose path was no longer upright. Jeffrey's attitude is certainly strange, but Fabian decided not to care.
After Baskara and Jeffrey disappeared, Fabian followed out because the taxi driver he called was also almost there.
...****************...
Supposedly, Baskara just went to bed as soon as he got home. No idea to flush his head using cold water under the pretext to get rid of dizziness in his head due to the alcohol he drank during in Mega.
Because now, the dizziness was not subsided, but instead it became more so when his eyes refused to be closed and the name and face Blue actually appeared blatantly.
Baskara got up from her sleep, leaned back against the headboard of the bed then grabbed the phone she had originally placed on the nightstand.
The alcohol present in his body still left an incredible effect, making a feeling that he had been keeping to himself, he hid behind his ignorant attitude and his words that seemed to be slipping finally exploded as well. Just a moment after he opened the mobile phone gallery and found Blue's face there.
Regrets, guilt and longing mixed into Baskara's mind, making her involuntarily shed tears.
The shadow of how happy he and Blue were when they were lovers who were supported by all the residents of the High School where they used to go to school, immediately made the tightness in Baskara's chest even more agonizing. Because now, all that is only a memory because the relationship with Blue is no longer on the level of fine.
All this is his fault, who is too cowardly in the face of the trials of life and thinks that running away from Blue is the wisest path to take at that time. With a silly thought, it was as simple as he did not want Blue to come crashing down with him.
That time, exactly one week before graduating from High School, Baskara decided to end his relationship with Blue. He takes the girl up to the school rooftop, only to leave the girl alone after saying the word break up so viciously. He did not even try to explain why their relationship had to end when there was no problem whatsoever between them.
The bad news, another storm came approaching Blue thirteen days later. Just a few days after graduation, Blue got word that her parents were involved in a plane crash and her body had not been found. Baskara knew Blue was destroyed, but she had gone too far to be able to grasp the girl's hand to help her gain strength.
In fact, Baskara's efforts to protect Blue were not destroyed along with her declining mental health due to her father's sudden change in attitude, it actually took him in endless regret when he saw how devastated Blue was before Aunt Maya brought the girl to move to Surabaya.
Baskara was there, as Blue wept roaring to call out the names of her parents just moments before Aunt Maya dragged her body into the plane. And Baskara could do nothing but hide like a coward. He did not have the courage to appear before Blue, to simply apologize for the hurt he had inflicted on the girl.
And his cowardice is still there today. When God was willing to give him one more chance to meet the girl, instead of the apologies and pleas for forgiveness he gave, Baskara actually sparked a crazy idea to make Blue a betting material.
"I should have been more daring to show up in front of you without having to draw your attention in this way, Blue." The whine, but nothing changed because the rice had become porridge. Now, he can only hope that Fabian and Blue don't fall in love with each other, and this bet he's making won't bring more pain to the girl.
Today, when dawn was about to come, Baskara cried profusely under the influence of alcohol which controlled almost every cell in his body.
Because if you are a hundred percent aware, Baskara will suppress his feelings strongly, acting as if he is the most formidable human in the world, who cannot be hurt because of anything.
