A Different Morning

The next morning, Baskara again made a surprise when he found Jeffrey was already sitting sweet at the dinner table, side by side with Sera who looks so painstakingly applying chocolate jam to a sheet of fresh bread. The two people again looked familiar, as if there had never been a split between them. It was as if there had never been a distance that stretched so far between them. It was as if their family was always okay.

He stopped the steps on the third step. Observe briefly the interaction between father and mother before finally the mother realized its existence.

"Bas, do you want breakfast bread or fried rice?"

Baskara stared at her mother for a while, then continued to take a sitting position next to the woman. He did not answer the mother's question, and immediately turned the plate over and filled it with fried rice that was still smoking hot smoke.

"What time is college today?" that's Jeffrey's voice.

Baskara put the spoon back into her mouth, only to find Jeffrey staring at her with an expression too difficult to explain.

For God's sake, that's a simple question. But Baskara took a full eleven seconds before replying, "Nine," then hurriedly turned his gaze again towards the plate in front.

"Just leave Papa, will you?"

Luckily Baskara had not yet put any food into her mouth, because if she had, she would have ended up choking on hearing her father's sudden words.

"Papa would like to meet with the Rector, to discuss some matters related to policy on campus." Sera helped her husband explain.

Baskara turned to look at his mother, silent for a moment while diving into the beautiful bead of the mother before finally exhaling slowly and again looking at the fried rice pouting because it always failed to touch.

"Byeah," pasrahnya. Despite the truth, he still felt strange about his father's sudden return.

Jeffrey didn't say anything anymore. He chewed the bread with chocolate jam that had been made by Sera in silence.

While Sera can only hope in her heart, hopefully this is the best decision Jeffrey can make as a husband and father. May the man have made up his mind to repair their house whose foundation was broken before it was completely destroyed.

In another house, Fabian enjoys his breakfast alone. This morning he had no taste for cooking, so he only ate chocolate-flavored cereal with a liquid white milk flush.

Don't ask Raya where, Fabian is sure she must still have passed out in the beer storage room because last night when she got home, there was an unruffled noise from inside the dark, stuffy room.

Let Fabian check his mother's condition after she's done filling her belly. After all, sooner or later he checked his mother's condition, it would not have a significant effect on the woman.

While his right hand was constantly feeding cereal into his mouth, his left hand was scrolling through the phone screen. He was busy listening to the chat room between himself and Baskara, where the last message he sent to the boy still had not changed to blue tick.

This is too late. Baskara is not usually like this. The young man was the noisiest, so it was strange that he suddenly disappeared, without a single word of farewell as he was today.

"Am I going to his house?" mumbling Fabian.

But after he recalled that his relationship with Baskara's mother was also not very good, Fabian undoes the intention. Sera's good, Fabian knows that. She always treated herself, Reno and Juan as a mother who treated her child's friends. It's just, Fabian felt there was a bad connection between himself and Sera, for what reason.

And prang!!!

"It's good to wake up, so I don't have to bother." His monologue. Then quickened the chew so that the cereal in the bowl ran out immediately and he could quickly leave this house. Because the laughter is not good, and he does not want it to affect the whole day later.

...****************...

Reno and Juan live in a house that is inhabited by several families, and they are obliged to take part in the breakfast, without any reason.

But this morning, the cousin duo agreed to run away. They are willing to wake up early, seducing Mbok Yayuk, their domestic assistant to prepare a breakfast menu that they can eat while on the way to campus.

The thing is, the breakfast show at the house is always peppered with drama. Some will complain about employees who are said to be asking for a raise without being coupled with a commensurate work ethic. Some will show off which other body parts are successful in surgery, as well as which doctors have been trusted to perform the operation. There are also those who misuh-misuh because of losing gambling and losing hundreds of millions.

And many more. What is clear is that the discussion is not at all included in the head of Reno and Juan who basically just want to eat their breakfast quietly in order to come to campus with full energy.

"Mbok Yayuk brought us what?" ask Reno, who this morning was on duty to drive.

Juan who was sitting on the passenger bench immediately grabbed the dining box he had originally placed on the rear passenger bench. With soaring expectations, he opened the lunchbox. And he was made to smile brightly when he found two pieces of their favorite Mayo Sandwich Tuna.

"Our favorite" he said, while bringing the lunchbox closer to Reno so that his cousin could smell the tempting scent of Tuna Mayo Sandwich.

Reno's nose is always sensitive when it comes to food. So, without further ado, he immediately pulled over his car after driving for nearly fifteen minutes. The stomach has been rumbling since, so there is no need to wait long to eat a sandwich made by Mbok Yayuk that need not be doubted the taste.

"Where to drink?" reno asked, just before he put a piece of Sandwich in his mouth.

Juan who had already started eating and was now chewing, practically stopped. He stared at the horror towards Reno who had already started to throw him a sharp gaze when the young man knew that there was not even a bottle of mineral water in their car.

Earlier, Juan was in a hurry when he picked up a lunch box that had been prepared by Mbok Yayuk in the kitchen, so he did not have time to cover the refrigerator to take drinking water.

"The moron!" Reno patted Juan on the forehead, causing the three-week-old to complain of pain.

"It's a drag, Juan. Could be stuck in the throat," he growled.

"Would you go back and get some water?" juan asked innocently, with his bulging cheeks filled with unfinished sandwiches chewed.

"And being caught by the adults there, we're forced to eat breakfast to listen to their nonsense? No, thanks."

"So, how are you going?"

Reno let out a rough breath. He had a sandwich he was holding. Then, with his heart still mumps due to Juan's carelessness, he opened his mouth and fed the sandwich. He took a big bite, he chewed slowly so that when later swallowed, the sandwich did not get stuck in the throat.

Both of them eat in silence. Enjoy each bite carefully as they should not choke at all.
