The moaning of a woman who was betting her life to give birth to her baby was heard from a simple wooden house standing in the middle of the village. The village is located not far from the wilderness debt in the part of South Sulawesi.
"Sighs! Let's push again!" pinta the half-gray-haired old woman.
The woman who was lying on the knitted carpet of coconut leaves squeezed the end of her pillow that had been soaked with sweat. His body trembled withstanding the pain he could no longer bear.
"Yahoo!!!" the screams are full of energy.
His wet head he threw into the pillow just like that. Both of his watery eyes were staring at the ceiling of the house, roofed coconut leaves that had worn out color were eaten by time.
"Scoff again, son!"
"Can't, Mom," he groaned.
"could. Comeing! Try again!"
"Can't!!!"
The sound of the house board that reads makes Baya, 59-year-old woman turned to look at Edi who was seen approaching his wife, Caya.
"Have you come out, Mommy?"
"Not yet."
Edi's face grew even more anxious after hearing that. He gripped the fingers of his wife who was still grimacing in pain.
"Daeng, I can't."
Edi stroked his wife's forehead while trying to smile anxiously.
"Try again!" whispered.
Caya took a deep breath as if trying to gather all her strength. This was the birth of his first child so that his birth canal was still narrow and it was not easy to remove it.
"Yahoooooo!!!!"
"Continue!!! Little more!"
"Geeeeaaaaahhh!!!" his yell.
"Again, Son!"
"Yahoooooooooooooooo!!!!"
That night the atmosphere became cold because of the strong wind blowing even people who were in the room occasionally looked at each other when the house swayed, understand that this house was only made of wood.
Bruack!!!
The sound of the window slamming was heard making Edi and Baya turn their heads. The lightning from the sky was dazzling to the eyes making the trees outside the house look clear, so terrifying.
Edi ran to close the window making him look up at the pitch-black night sky. There are no stars in the sky.
Edi ran back next to his wife who was still betting his life.
"It looks like it's raining, it's dark outside" he said.
Caya pushed back after a few minutes he gathered his strength. Baya occasionally looked down at the birth canal which at the top of her thighs was covered in green batik sarong.
"Yahoooooooooo!!!" his yell.
"Yes out already his head!!!"
Caya threw her head back on the pillow that had been wet. The hand that was not held by her husband squeezed his knee which was also painful to endure the pain.
Caya blinked a few times both of her eyes that were tired. He turned to the left to find the red light that was seen in the gap of the wall of his house and not long ago disappeared just like that.
The face of pain disappeared from his face. The red light was like an eyeball that was so sharp as if it was scouting him.
"Why, Ndi?"
Caya. He quickly shook his head and went back to grimacing as the pain wriggled on his stomach.
Oeeeeeeee
The sound of the baby making it out of Caya's birth canal was finally heard after hours of struggle.
Baya held the baby boy who was still wet and dirty because the blood made Edi smile happily.
"Male, Mak?" ask Edi who is so curious.
"Yes, your son's man" he answered.
Edi rubbed his face with both hands expressing his gratitude to God. After many years, he finally had a child.
Meooong
Edi and Baya turned to look at the short-tailed black cat walking on the board of the house. Edi frowned in wonder, where did this black cat come from? As if Edi had no pet cats in this house.
"Edhi! Bring the ari-ari, son! Keep grave! Don't forget to pack the candles! Do not be seen and kissed Parakang smell ariannya," explained Baya.
Edi nodded then stepped down from the house to set his feet one by one on the stairs that slightly swayed while carrying a jug containing ari-ari that had been mixed with coarse salt.
Edi looked up at the pitch-black sky that was ready to lower the rain.Don't think long Edi lit a torch and ran to reach for the hoe under the column of the house.
Edi ran to the front of the house and placed the burning fire torch on the stone. The iron-sharp eyes were stuck on the ground as Edi began digging in the ground with his hoe accompanied by a flash of lightning from the sky.
One by one drops of rain fell soaking Edi who was still digging a hole to bury his son's ari in the darkness of night making the fire in the torch move, almost dead when blown by the wind.
While in the house the baby who has been in the bedong is placed on top of the container. The baby was crying as if agitated somehow because what makes Baya also a little confused. Usually a newborn baby will not cry like this.
"What's up, Mom?"
Baya turned her head after Caya asked him. It seemed like his hermit face could be seen by Caya.
"Your baby seems to be terrified."
Caya was silent not understanding.
Baya rose up to make Caya look up.
"Where are you going, Mommy?"
"Take the onion, maybe your baby doesn't stop crying because there's a Parakang around here" he explained and then put his foot away.
Caya's lips twitched. After hearing the name Parakang made Caya's body tremble violently. The figure of the creature that had been troubling the villagers for years had frightened him.
Caya turned his head, he moved his head to look at the hole in the wall of the house made of boards, the place where he last saw the red and sharp eyes.
She swallowed her saliva by force. His lips still shuddered not stopping. The room which was only illuminated by petromax light made the atmosphere terrible. Caya rubbed her hands alternately as her hair stood up feeling a different sensation she had once felt.
Bruaks
Caya gasps in shock as a black cat jumps from the ceiling of the house and lands next to her increasingly crying baby.
Caya fell silent with her frightened face staring at the cat who was now looking at her sharply. The two cat eyes did not seem to be the usual cat gazes he had seen. The cat is different.
Both of Caya's eyes were rounded staring at the black shadow coming out of the black-haired cat. The cat did not meow, he was seen opening his mouth and his body moved up and down as if he was short of breath.
The cat's face slowly turned into a figure of a long white-haired human face with a naked body. He looked like he was crawling with his butt higher than his head.
Caya's lips twitched. He wanted to scream but it didn't feel easy. He tried to get up but could not.
"Loooooooooo!!!" yell Caya scared.
"Pa-pa-parachute!!!!"
"Please!!! Aparak!!!"
The back moved his head left and right and then he leaped in excitement like a four-legged animal with glowing red eyes staring hungry at the crying baby.
"Don't! Don't eat my son!!!" yell Caya scared.
The retard advances his lips and taps them into the center of the baby that is still red.
Uh uh uh uh uh
"Oh Daenggg!!!" Caya screamed as the voice of the back was heard.
He sucked his son!!!
