Brianna stood up straight from her seat, approaching Jane by the door. He put on a smile that looked forced. Sure if he can, he wants to drive Jane into Chico's treatment room but he realizes he can't do that.
"Bri, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday."
Brianna put on a grin. "Sorry about what, Mrs?" tanyakanya.
"I thought I was too much. I shouldn't have helped you out and given you a loan of money for your nephew's treatment. I'm sorry," Jane said later.
Brianna could only nod, not knowing what else to answer.
"Do you still need the money? If so, I'll help you, Bri." Jane touched the back of Brianna's hand, showing her concern.
I was so excited to tell Jane that it was too late. He's already earned the money, but was forced to sell himself to Arthur last night.
"Y-yeah, but I've got the cost, ma'am," replied Brianna with her head lowered.
"really? You don't have to hesitate to tell me if you still need it."
Brianna shakes. "No need, Madam. I've really got it, thank you," he said slowly.
Jane looked back at Brianna's body, wanting to see the condition of the child Brianna referred to as her niece.
"Ah, may I see your nephew?"
Brianna's eyes are patterning, but she hopes Jane leaves soon after saying her goal. It was unexpected that the middle-aged woman also wanted to visit Chico's condition there.
"Y-yes." Brianna had just replied, and the next second Jane was galloping closer to the hospital bed where Chico was.
Chico was still playing the miniature train that Brianna had bought, so he did not pay much attention to who the guests were coming.
However, when Jane's voice greeted the child, it was clear that Chico immediately turned his head.
"Hi .." said Jane
And that's when Chico and Jane's gazes met each other. Chico smiled at Jane, who immediately stunned Jane.
At that moment, Brianna could not escape anymore. She massages her suddenly dizzy temple thinking of what kind of reason she would give if Jane suspects about Chico's visual which is a duplicate of Arthur's face.
"Mad ..." Jane looked at Brianna, as if to express what was now in her mind. Yeah, he saw the sick boy like he saw Arthur as a kid.
"Yes, Mrs?"
"Didn't your niece resemble my son?"
Brianna's tongue suddenly twisted. Sometimes he stares at Jane there, but every now and then he throws his eyes off in the other direction, Brianna is afraid that Jane can read her lies.
"Are you kidding me, ma'am? He's my son .. Of course he's similar to me" replied someone who suddenly walked into the treatment room. Thankfully Zach has returned and helped Brianna out of the situation due to Jane's previous questions.
Jane laughed at Zach who also threw a smile there.
"I'm sorry, I don't mean that," Jane said unkindly to Zach. However, he still felt that the boy was very similar to Arthur. The color of his eyes, hair and all aspects of Chico made him remember the figure of Arthur who may now be on his way back to Canada. Ah, if Arthur were here too, his son would agree with him.
"It's okay, Madam." Zach understands that Jane is distraught with him, but he must avoid the woman suspecting who Chico really is.
"Hi, boy ... What's your name?" Jane approaches Chico and the boy answers her quickly.
"Hi, I'm Chico." Chico put on a sweet whimper, Jane was amazed to see it.
"the chico? Cool name," said Jane who suddenly stroked Chico's puffed cheeks to follow her own heart instincts.
"Thank you, ma'am," Chico replied with her lisp accent.
Jane shakes. "No, no, can you call me Grandma?" sanya.
Hearing that, Zach and Brianna looked at each other with meaningful gazes. Obviously they know that Jane and Chico are really grandmothers and grandchildren. But they still choose to be silent.
"When I was a kid, my face looked a lot like Chico, ma'am." Zach was trying to melt the atmosphere.
"really?" Jane looked at Zach, looking as if she were probing at the man. However, he thought Zach was nothing like Chico. It's just, Jane didn't want to break Brianna's sister's sentence.
"Yes. Of course, he's my son" Zach said with a jumawa.
Jane smiled to see him. He returns to Chico, who somehow wants to be close to the boy, so Jane tries to withdraw the boy's attention.
"You like miniature cars, huh?" ask Jane to Chico.
"Well, I like it a lot. Look, the locomotive's great. I also have a miniature excavator at home" Chico replied with a clever speech.
"You're collecting it? What else don't you have but want you to have?" Jane asked as she sat down on Chico's bedside chair.
"I don't have a miniature helicopter yet. Just got a toy plane."
"You want? Grandma's gonna buy it for you?" said Jane who immediately familiarized herself with the boy, Chico's face similar to Arthur can not be ignored just like that. It caught his attention completely.
"No!" Chico shook his head repeatedly. "I'll get it from Momma. Or my father and mother will buy him" he replied wisely.
Jane was anxious to see the intelligent-looking 3-year-old's interaction. If he could, he would love to bring Chico before Arthur to show his son that there is a little boy who is very similar to Arthur.
...***...
"Are you sure he won't suspect anything?" Brianna questions Zach after Jane's return from the hospital.
Zach sniffed his shoulders, still reluctant to answer questions from his brother.
"I think he'll remain suspicious. However, we all know that Chico doesn't look like you or Flo, Zach." Brianna still invites Zach to talk even though he knows his sister is silent about his side job that is unclear.
"Don't think about it too much, Bri. The most important thing is that he knows that Chico is our son" Flo said.
Brianna took a slow breath. "What if he complained about Chico to Arthur?" mumbled listlessly.
"You said yourself that Chico didn't exist because of the man's wishes, so he wouldn't care even if he knew that Chico was his son" Flo replied.
"I'm not sure, actually I said that just to calm myself." Brianna admits her feelings about it.
"Don't think much about things that aren't necessarily going to happen, just block Chico's meeting with Arthur after Chico has really improved" Zach said.
"He's back in Canada. That's what I hear." Brianna is telling the truth.
"Then don't let Mrs Jane come back to see her" Flo suggested.
"I'm not sure, after this I can be sure if he will come to visit often" Zach said with his thoughts.
Brianna seemed worried, occasionally tapping her own finger. Seemed thinking. I don't know what he's thinking.
"I was thinking did I just get out of New York to avoid them?"
Brianna's words are beyond Zach and Flo's expectations.
"Then, how's your job?" tanya Flo was confused. "If that's your decision, what can we do, Bri? But, if I may ask, I want you to stay here with Chico. We can't be far from him either, Bri," he said with a pleading face.
