35. Will not let

Hearing Brianna's words, Arthur's grip on the woman's chin slowly loosened. Taking the opportunity, Brianna immediately brushed Arthur's hand off his face right then and there.

"Don't force me, you can meet Chico whenever you want after I give him an understanding later."

Brianna was about to leave in front of Arthur, but Arthur blocked his wrist.

"What else?" ask Brianna undaunted. The man was still unmoved, probably still digesting everything Brianna had said to him just a moment ago.

Brianna's fed up, she wants to let go of Arthur's hand but can't.

"Can you let go of my hand?" ask Brianna flat.

Arthur took it off right then and there, the man seemed to wake up from a situation that a moment ago he seemed to dissolve in his own thinking.

"Follow me!" arthur said slowly.

Brianna looked at the man. "Where?" tanyakanya.

"Work." After saying that, Arthur walked out of his Apartment unit.

Along the way, Arthur was silent, as was Brianna sitting next to the man in a walking car.

Brianna feels better, she's quiet enough that Arthur doesn't babble, but deep down Brianna knows that Arthur must be plotting something behind his silence.

"What's my schedule today?" arthur asked when the car stopped at his office building. He opened the seatbelt, and Brianna immediately read out all the man's schedules for the day.

Okay, now is the time for work and the time to be professional, inner Brianna said so. Even so, he was still astonished by Arthur's silence over his rejection earlier. What makes Arthur look different? Or it's just Brianna's feelings.

Half a day, Arthur spends his time working. He checked all the papers that had to be signed. A virtual meeting. Also meeting in the room in the office building. As much as possible the man tried to focus on work, without heeding the presence of Brianna who continued to be by his side due to the demands of the job.

"Hi, Arthur!" Arthur turned his head as someone greeted him at the restaurant he was visiting for lunch today.

"Gerard?" Arthur found the man there.

Arthur didn't want Gerard to realize Brianna was by his side, but it was too late, it seemed like everything was done, even Gerard had greeted the woman there. Damned!

"So you're in Canada to replace Arthur's personal assistant?" ask Gerard to Brianna.

"Well." yeah." Brianna commented on the smile she never showed Arthur.

Arthur let out a long sigh, now he was neglected and Gerard actually talked more to Brianna than to him.

They finally sat at the same table. Arthur can not avoid because in addition to being tied to work with Gerard, he also still has a family relationship with the man. After all, he did not want Gerard to think that no-no about Brianna who is now his assistant.

"May I order food for you?" ask Gerard to Brianna.

Brianna nodded and Arthur stared pensively at the two men.

"Pick for me too" said Arthur casually. He closed the menu book that was almost opened.

"You choose yourself" replied Gerard indifferently. "I'm just going to pick Brianna" he continued.

"Then, pick me the same menu as him." Arthur looked relaxed and Gerard finally nodded because he was lazy to extend this.

Brianna and Gerard seemed to be engaged in a conversation together without involving Arthur, from which Arthur heard at a glance it seems they did not discuss the work. They looked familiar, even occasionally laughing softly.

Arthur felt like he was accompanying Gerard on a date, out of annoyance, he finally tried to call Serena's number. He invites the girl to join him if Serena can.

Luckily, Serena was apparently in the Mall not far from the restaurant where they were, until Arthur's food came, the girl had also reached among them all.

"Hi .." said Serena kindly. He glanced at Brianna and Gerard there and then frowned, thinking Arthur would invite him to meet alone.

"Hi, Seren. Please sit down" said Arthur.

The girl finally occupied the seat opposite Arthur.

"Have you eaten?" ask Arthur.

"I'll order a drink, brother." Serena still does not understand why Arthur asked her to meet, but it turns out there are other people too, even though they should think about the matchmaking that was carried by Jane some time ago.

"Who are they, brother?" serena whispered at last.

"Oh yes. Seren, this is Gerard and this is ... Brianne."

They enjoy the food that has been served in silence and solemnity.

"You're the girl Aunty Jane's got Arthur?" ask Gerard in disbelief. He asked because Serena said it straight away, when Arthur had just gone to the toilet.

"Yes. Me and Brother Arthur are getting married soon" replied Serena confidently.

Brianna just kept listening, she shouldn't interfere, she thought.

"Oh, I don't think Arthur is interested in women" Gerard joked.

"Why can you say such a thing?" Serena was curious, but Gerard was not really serious about his words.

"Yes, as far as I know he's never been in contact with a woman. You have to be careful" Gerard said again.

"Why should I be careful?" Serena's two eyebrows appear to be fused together, indicating her confusion over Gerard's speech.

"Well, anyone knows he likes the same sex. It could be, right? I don't want you to be just a shield to cover up his misbehavior" Gerard said.

Brianna, who knows enough of Gerard's sense of humor, only responds to it with a smile and a wiggle of the head. She didn't take part in their conversation, but she could see if Serena seemed serious about responding to Gerard's remarks.

Arthur returns to his desk from the toilet and sees Serena and Gerard talking.

"What are you guys talking about? Why does it look so serious?" tanyanya looked at Serena.

Serena just pecked a thin smile, no doubt she thought about Gerard's words earlier. What if the speech is true? Arthur was never with a woman. Even during Arthur's friendship with Fabio-Kakak Serena-Arthur was never involved with any women. Serena doubted Arthur, and she was consumed by Gerard's words.

"We need to get back to the office, Bri," Arthur tells Brianna.

"Well, all right."

Arthur looked at Serena. "Do you want me to take you? I'm going back to the office now" he said.

Serena shakes. "No need, brother. I'll go to my friend's house first and not go home right away" he refused.

Arthur nodded. Then look at Brianna and Gerard who are back talking. For a long time his patience could be exhausted seeing the two of them. Moreover, the presence of Serena was nothing for him. He thought that the girl would divert him from the two familiar-looking people, in fact the same, he still disliked their closeness.

"Already, Gerard. You can talk next time. Now Brianna has to get back to work" said Arthur lazily.

Gerard laughed at a glance. "I was just making an appointment with Brianna, but she said she didn't have time to see me anymore because you often asked for things outside of her working hours" she said, winking meaningfully.

Arthur shook his head faintly. "Yes, he doesn't have an empty clock" he said flatly.

"When weekend? Can me and Brianna go for a walk?"

"I told you he doesn't have an empty clock, he doesn't have a day off. His work calendar with me is all black" said Arthur, who gave Gerard another chuckle when he heard it.

"Alright, then I'll meet him later at your house" whispered Gerard as he patted Arthur on the shoulder. Those words were only those who knew, because Brianna had not heard them and Serena had already left them all.

"Just try, you won't be able to see him, because I won't let that happen" Arthur said.

"Well, let's go back to the office!" take Brianna who saw Arthur staring at the departure of Gerard who seemed to be getting away.

"okay." Arthur walked slowly and followed the steps of Brianna who had walked first in front of him.

They get back in the car, but Brianna frowns when she realizes that this isn't the way to Arthur's company.

"Where are we going? This is not the route to home and office? Do you want to go to the apartment first? Is there something you want to take?" guess Brianna.

Arthur shook his head slowly. Given Brianna and Gerard's interaction earlier somehow made him depressed. What if they meet without Arthur's knowledge?

"Where are we going?" brianna demanded an answer from Arthur's lips.

"Civil records."

And the man's answer made Brianna's mouth gap. A split second later, Brianna voiced out a protest.

"For what? Don't joke, Arthur!"

"Of course to get married. Do you think I would if one day my son had to live with another man who was going to be a father?" Arthur thinks of the possibility because seeing Brianna's closeness with Gerard makes him realize that there will be a possibility for Brianna to marry another man later.
