"Mas Fais .. tell us who built this Prambanan Temple." I said sulking to Fais.

We did read a little bit in front of the information of some Dutch people who started to rebuild. Oh yes just to know, that in the past when this temple was rediscovered its condition is concerning. His condition was severely damaged and over the Shiva Temple was overgrown with very large trees.

"Yes mas .. earlier we have not detailed reading in the front announcement." said Dika who was also curious about it.

"Okay sister, brother will explain. I finally have a chance to be your teacher" said Fais, who was very satisfied when we were enthusiastic about his knowledge.

Fais later explained that this started with G. E. Rumphius (1628 - 1702). He was a naturalist from Germany who paid great attention to the cultural artifacts of the archipelago. He often presented statues to Colonial officials. He also wrote all the sculptures he gave in his book entitled D'amboinsche Rariteitkamer (1705). However, the information in the book is incomplete. So that makes it difficult to identify the origin of the statue.

Favorite collecting objects - ancient objects initially only in demand by some people who then make a group of lovers of artifacts. The Dutch East Indies government also began to be interested in these objects. So on April 24, 1778 established an institution called Bataviaasch Genootscap van Kunsten en Wetenschappen. In statutes or verses 1 - 3 it is stated that the purpose of establishing the institution is to advance cultural knowledge for the sake of cultural recognition in Indonesia and its surroundings.

1811 - 1816 The British government took control of Indonesia. Thomas Stamford Raffles focused on research and observation. He also published a book called The History of Java in 1817.

Indonesia in 1817 was again controlled by the Dutch and the research leadership was replaced by C.G.C Reinward. He ordered documentation and recordkeeping. In 1885 a private institution was formed called Archaeologische Vereeniging led by Ir. C.W Ijzerman. K Chepas an indigenous immortalized the archaeological remains in the form of photographs.

The Dutch East Indies government issued a decree of the Besluit Gouvernement van of 18 May 1901 no 4 to establish a Javanese and Madurese antiquities commission, and, Commissie in Nederlandsch-indie voor oudheidkundige onderzoek op Java en Madoera led by J.L.A Brandes. In 1909, Rapporten van de Commissie in Nederlansch published onderzoek op Java en Madoera (ROC).

In 1910, Brandes was replaced by Dr. N. J. Krom (because Brandes died). Chromes are very full concentration against Indonesian antiquities. So he managed to persuade the government to make an official post of antiquity that covers all of Indonesia. Decree of the government on June 14, 1913 AD number 63 stands Oudheidkundige Dients in Nederlansch-Indie (The Antiquities of the Dutch East Indies).

In 1915, the ROD and Oudheidkundige Verslag (OV) report was published, which contains an inventory of antiquities in Central Java and DIY. In 1916 the leadership of OD was replaced by F.D.K Bosch who concentrated on temple reconstruction.

In 1931 made a regulation on the law of antiquity named Monumenten Ordinantie (MO) which was improved in 1934 on the preservation of the Cultural Heritage.

After Japan, the OD was then led by Ir. H. R van Romondt. In 1947 the OD was led by Prof. Dr. A. J. Bernet Kemper. In 1951 several ancient posts later merged into the Department of Antiquities.

----

"Mas Fais, trus of ancient posts led by Indonesians the year when?" ask Dika.

"In 1953 the National Antiquities and Heritage Service was led by R. Soekmono." replied Fais.

"That means when Indonesia became independent in 1945, the Antiquities Office was still led by the Dutch huh?" ask Ivan.

"Failure, because Indonesians still have to learn in terms of antiquity and construction system to Dutch experts" Fais replied.

I then said, "Means the Dutch are not evil dong with our temple?"

"It's good that they take care of our temple, but many of our residences are brought to the Land of Windmills" Fais said.

"Nah ... June 14 is seen from its history, then commemorated as an ancient day" said Fais who told about the commemoration of the ancient day.

"But at least if there is no Netherlands, we can never see the splendor of this temple" said Dika who was accompanied by a nod of Ivan and Fais.

"Oh yes, if for the construction of Prambanan Temple itself how?" manya curious.

This episode is quite old, friends. Sorry if the episode this time the language is a bit heavy and a lot of foreign terms that I use. This is all, I tell my friends to understand about the history of ancient institutions that overshadow the problem of cultural heritage in Indonesia.

Thank you for being my reader.
