Fais this time explained about political life in the Medang Kingdom.

"Oh yes, why do you want to know about political life at Medang Palace?" ask Fais.

"Women and possessions have been discussed now we want to know about politics in the 9th century" said Dika. He was also very curious about the political atmosphere at that time.

"OK deh ... I'll tell ya." said Fais.

I then listened well to Fais' words that might be useful someday.

By the time of Rakai Pikatan's reign there had been at least 2 known wars. The first was the fight between Pikatan and Balaputradewa. He is the younger brother of Samaratungga. So Balaputra was Pramodhawarddhani's uncle. He attacked Pikatan probably because he felt that Pikatan should not be king.

Perhaps in his mind, he was also entitled to the throne of Medang to replace his brother. But he forgot that Samaratungga had a crown princess who was more entitled to the throne of Medang. After the death of Samaratungga and the marriage of Pikatan with Pramodawarddhani. Thus, the throne of Medang was then given to Pikatan (husband).

But Pikatan is better than Balaputradewa. So that the fight can be overcome immediately. Pikatan won and managed to expel Balaputra to return to Srivijaya. According to some experts, that after he was defeated by Pikatan. Balaputradewa became king in Srivijaya and cooperated with a king from the kingdom of Nalanda (India).

the second was the battle due to the rebellion carried out by Rakai Walaing Mpu Kumbhayoni. He claimed to be a descendant of King Sanjaya. So that he is also entitled to the throne of Medang. He then fought with Pikatan. Khumbayoni was very clever. It was hard to be defeated by Pikatan.

Pereng inscription mentions that Rakai Walaing Mpu Khumbayoni because he was desperate. He then established a defensive fort on the hill of the baka. The fort is strategically located. So that it becomes difficult to defeat.

The marriage between Pikatan and Pramodawarddhani then gave birth to 2 children named Rakai Gurunwangi Dyah Seladu and Rakai Kayuwangi Dyah Lokapala.

Pikatan then ordered one of his sons named Kayuwangi to defeat Khumbayoni.

Kayuwangi turned out to be a mighty prince and he also mastered the science of war and strategy to defeat the enemy. In the war, Khumbayoni was defeated. In that event also Medang soldiers damaged the Pereng Inscription which contains the Walaing Mpu Khumbayoni lineage.

For the success of Kayuwangi defeated his father's enemies. So the people of Medang urged Lokapala who was appointed as king to replace Pikatan become King.

"Wuah, isn't his first son succeeding the king?" ask Ivan.

"Oh yes, this Pikatan is also very romantic hlo" said Fais who made me become more eager to ask.

"Why romantic?" my many.

"So when Rakai Pikatan ordered the soldiers and people to make this Prambanan Temple. He also ordered to create a complex of buildings with a Buddhist background for his empress, Pramodawarddhani." Fais explained.

"Sewu Temple, po?" I tried to confirm.

"Open up" Fais said briefly.

"Trus what dong? Bubrah Temple and Lumbung po?" ask Ivan.

Fais still shook his head. We then became impatient, because Fais always played puzzles.

"What is Plaosan Temple?" my many.

"Rubber ... Plaosan Temple." Fais replied.

"Why did he make a temple for his wife?" ask Dika.

"The union wants to show its love for the queen. So he also built Plaosan Temple. There are 2 possibilities, the first to keep the feeling of the empress because Pikatan ordered to make this grand temple. He did not want to be said to only use the throne of his wife for his own interests. So he also built Plaosan Temple simultaneously. Second to show that Pikatan is very powerful and rich. And to show that Pikatan cannot be underestimated by his enemies." Fais explained.

"ooh .. mudeng - mudeng, Mas Fais thank you" I said

"Samely, uh let me take you to the Prambanan Museum" Fais said.

"Where is it?" ask Ivan.

"There's an interesting collection" he said briefly

"What collection?" my many.

Fais just passed by and ignored my question. He then got up from his seat and gave a signal to follow him. We then followed Fais to head to the Prambanan Museum.
