Chapter 17 - The Last Day

Fian is desperate to meet Elnara when the girl just returned from her short vacation. The man impatiently asked Elnara for time to speak together.

Elnara who believed in Fian did not suspect anything. Elnara thought Fian just wanted to talk as usual as what they often do.

However, Elnara's guess is wrong when Fian confidently hands over some of Zayan's photographs with Micah. The photo that Fian gave Okta.

"What do you mean, Fian?" asked Elnara who looked unsurprised.

"Your husband is my boss and I often see him as his secretary goes both ways. I think they're secretly in a relationship behind you."

"You know what you're doing is at risk to your career?"

"I know El, but I can't just sit around seeing you being lied to like that!" Fian replied firmly making Elnara take a tired breath.

Elnara did not expect this, how could Fian know about it and now Elnara was afraid that the people around her knew this too.

"If you want to know, my husband doesn't cheat. I know the secretary and I know exactly what their relationship is."

"You lied to El, how can you trust your husband so?" Fian kept defending himself, he felt sure he had done the right thing.

"He's my husband and obviously I believe him. After all, whether or not your accusations are true, you should not interfere. You know this is my household matter and you're just an outsider who can't interfere like this!"

Elnara knew maybe her words would hurt Fian, but she could do nothing else to deny Fia's accusations.

"You shouldn't just shut up El, you should ask your husband to be honest instead of staying quiet like this!"

"Then, after that what? Asking for a divorce, is that it? Husband and wife relationships aren't that easy, Fian. Not because there is a problem, then quarrel and end in divorce. I impose my own limits, when my husband crosses the line of course I will act alone."

"Sorry, I didn't mean anything. I'm just-" Fian would've defended himself when he felt cornered, but Elnara quickly cut his words.

"Thank you for your concern, but I hope you don't do this anymore."

Elnara immediately left in front of Fian, she would not listen to Fian's words anymore. Elnara was already quite disappointed with the actions of her best friend.

To be honest, Elnara was a little anxious after seeing those photos. However, seeing Zayan's attitude lately made Elnara reassure herself that perhaps Zayan would choose her. After all, the photos were old photos before Elnara made her 30-day request.

For the past 1 week this has been going well for Elnara. Zayan has opened up and made Elnara even more hopeful that their relationship can still be saved.

Like today Zayan suddenly invited her to dinner together at a fancy restaurant. Something that all this time can only guard the delusion of Elnara.

"Thank you Mas for dinner, El was glad to have El have dinner together like this" said Elnara, who was so happy she didn't stop to smile.

"I'm glad you like dinner today. If I had time we could have dinner like this again." Hearing Zayan's words made Elnara even happier.

Zayan's words were like a sweet promise Elnara would always look forward to. Elnara hoped that their relationship would be fine and Zayan would choose her when the day of the covenant ended.

Given that the 30 days of the agreement are due to expire tomorrow, Elnara is restless. He wanted to ask Zayan, but he didn't want to be disappointed at Zayan's answer that might disappoint him.

"What's wrong?" zayan asked as he looked at Elnara's gloomy-looking face.

"Ehm ... What about the thirty-day covenant?" ask Elnara doubtfully.

"I don't know what to do yet" Zayan replied as he was.

"The agreement ends tomorrow, Mas, can Mas not be sure who should choose?"

"I'll answer tomorrow, can you wait until tomorrow?"

Inevitably Elnara nodded resignedly, she couldn't possibly force Zayan to make a choice now. That ridiculous deal is over tomorrow anyway.

"Then can you make time for dinner together? El wants to cook special for Mas, so El hopes Mas can take the time."

"Alright, but maybe I'll go home tonight because there's work I have to finish tomorrow."

Elnara nodded in agreement, at least Zayan was willing to accept his invitation. Elnara hopes Zayan's work can be done quickly and they can have dinner together.

Day 30

Elnara was impatiently waiting for nightfall. He had prepared a romantic dinner with Zayan. Today coincides with Zayan's birthday, which is why Elnara is preparing a romantic dinner for her husband.

Elnara also prepared gifts for Zayan, and made birthday cakes with her own hands. He could not deny that his heart hoped tonight would be a happy ending.

*Mas Zayan is coming home at what time?

Don't forget we're going to have a night together*.

The message was sent by Elnara in the afternoon and until now has not received a reply from Zayan. His heart was agitated for fear that Zayan would forget his promise to have dinner together today.

At 8 p.m., Elnara was still waiting for Zayan to come home. Her husband still had no word and when Elnara called, the call went unanswered.

"Where is Mas Zayan? Don't-don't he forget again, just tell dong." Elnara muttered while pacing in front of the door.

At 12 p.m., Elnara fell asleep on the living room couch. He was tired of waiting for Zayan who did not know when to go home. Until the ringing of the phone woke Elnara who looked surprised.

The house looked deserted and there was no sign Zayan had gone home. Elnara is haunted by anxiety, then once again she tries to contact Zayan.

When Elnara saw her phone, a message came in from Micah. Elnara's feelings grew increasingly uneasy as she decided to open a message from Micah.

"Mas Zayan" muttered Elnara softly as she looked at the contents of Micah's message.

MIkha sent me some short photos and videos. The photo and video contained Zayan's birthday celebration in a fancy restaurant with other employees.

Elnara's heart aches because Zayan spends time with others as she waits with anxious feelings. So did not expect him that Zayan did not even preach it.

As if it was not enough, Micah again sent a photo that made Elnara cry heartbroken.

Now Elnara knew what answer Zayan would give her.
