Erland and Floe arrived home already dark and the two did not speak at all while in the car. It was as if both of them were busy with their own thoughts.

"Ready, ma'am," said Erland, who smiled and now started opening the freezer to pick up ice cream. "It seems like when I grow up, my son will really like ice cream."
