“Why is your face flushed when I am sick?”
Speech accompanied by a annoying grin that makes Selena hissed, then slightly press the warm water compress to the Ocean forehead, making the man laugh. Selena took a moment off, took a deep breath to calm herself down. His heart was still pounding, his cheeks were burning. The cold air there did not help him at all to relieve the sultry that was holding him.
“I told you not to talk much. You have a fever, you have to rest a lot.” Selena observed Ocean's still pale face, sighing. “Actually when was the last time you slept? If you are tired, why force yourself here? Stupid idiot.”
Ocean closed his eyes, confirming his sleeping position. “Because I want to see you. The last six days have been a long time. I think I left part of my life here.”
Selena bit her inner cheek. Apparently he was still unfamiliar with Ocean's change in attitude towards her. His face grew hot and his blood rippled. It looks like it will take a long time for Selena to “bergeman” with this new situation.
“Try telling honestly, Ocean. You're not really that nice, are you? Looks like you have a lot of experience with women.” Selena looked at the investigation.
Though annoying, whether conscious or not, Ocean's speech and actions during this time can be a deadly weapon to make weak-hearted women bend their knees. He looks natural when he does. Being a great shield, a perfect sad release, even a warm tranquilizer. Selena is not at all surprised how Agatha can be so “fall” on Ocean. From any side, he looked extremely charming.
Ocean's eyelids opened slowly, before he sat up with a straight gaze directed at Selena. “You want me to answer what, Selena? You're the first for me? Just hearing it feels silly, right?”
Alright, Selena retracted her words. It turned out that Ocean's annoying attitude covered all the good things that were on him.
“I mean not so ...”
“You're the first.”
The word that was about to come out of Selena's lips vanished instantly. The frown on his face also faded slowly. The three words of Ocean were more than enough to make Selena peck in place.
“Since High School I have been prepared to be the successor to Dad because my two brothers are not interested in business. There are a lot of things I have learned and prepared since then. Being the leader of a company is never easy, Selena. There are thousands of employee fates resting on my two hands, maybe even much more than that. La Sky Land cooperates with many parties. Their fortunes intertwined, and I became one of the determinants of whether today they would eat or not, their children's tuition would be paid or not.”
Ocean's gaze was glaring, as if it was summoning a memory of how his life had been.
“But since I've chosen to bear all that heavy burden, I try to do everything as best I can, making sure that the move I took wasn't one of the reasons for those thousands of people to lose hope. Therefore, I spend a lot of time on work. I don't have time for dating. That's my answer.”
Ocean smiled faintly when he found Selena still did not move in the slightest. It seemed like he was digesting Ocean's words carefully, making sure everything made sense.
“You could say, life at the beginning of marriage was the hardest time for me. I have to live with new people, not to mention your childish and careless behavior. I held back too much so as not to throw you out of my house.”
“You what?” Selena glares. “Then why can you do so much for me then?”
“You want to die?!” Selena cuts fast, hissing furiously. A kitten? Abandoned? What kind of shit is this?
Ocean's laughter sounded after him. He really likes the sensation of teasing Selena, seeing her upset face. Entertainment for his life that feels repetitive and fattening turned out to be this simple.
“Ah, there is one more thing that makes me curious.” Selena suddenly felt nervous. Calling bad memories is never easy. “Even after I dumped you... uh, you know, about that revenge ... why did you even go so far, Ocean? For the size of a man like you, I'm sure you can get whichever woman you want, even the most perfect woman. After all, doesn't this business wedding feel like crap to you?”
Ocean was silent for a moment, before his gaze directed towards the window displaying the shoots of fir trees. “The eye never lies, Selena. After marriage, I know you more than the way you stare. Angry, restrained, happy, upset, lying, hiding sadness. I know everything from the look in your eyes.”
Selena was a little surprised, suddenly nervous. A consciousness suddenly landed on his head. Don't say Ocean ....
As if knowing what Selena was thinking, Ocean gave a small smile. “When you came to dump me, I knew you didn't really do it. Highlight the hurt .. You held it well. Looks like your acting is growing quite a lot.”
Silently Selena exhaled a sigh of relief, it turned out that Ocean did not know—
“And I also know when you like me again. Ah, or can I say that you always liked me?” Ocean rested his head with his hands. “Although you tried so hard to hide it by acting as if you hated me, from the beginning I knew .... Want me to describe how you saw me? Your pupils will dilate—”
“Argh, shut up!” Selena half jumped up to cover Ocean's mouth with her palm. Why are there so many embarrassing things that Ocean knows about him? Selena would absolutely die without pride if she heard Ocean's explanation. The man was somehow too keen on analyzing all things.
Smiling faintly, Ocean clasped Selena's hand still on her face, then lowered it. “Listen to me carefully, Selena. I'm not planning on making you an option at all. There will be no other woman as an option. And forget about perfection as a determinant of relationship success. I really don't need someone perfect to walk next to me. I like you because you're Selena Jasmine. On every question of how I'm going to spend the rest of my life, the answer will always be you, Selena.”
Resolute in every inch of Ocean's face, the firmness in his dark bead made Selena like attacked from all directions. By the words of Ocean's deep voice, Selena knew, she would not be able to escape anymore. He had been perfectly trapped in that dark sea.
“You hugged me for a minute?” Ocean asked slowly.
Without waiting any longer, Selena hugged Ocean. The fading, warm musk scent that spread, and the gentle sweep of Ocean's hands in his hair. Here, Selena does not need to worry about everything, Ocean will always embrace her with warm— as she usually does. In this place, Selena could laugh and cry as much as she wanted, without worrying about looking weak in the eyes of others.
And in this place anyway, Selena finally knew what a place to go home was.
“I will never let you go, Selena.”
