Teach Me (Naina)

Teach Me (Naina)
Chapter 63

In the afternoon before dusk, Alfin sat pensively in the mosque gazebo, looking at his children playing in the dormitory yard. Their laughter did not bring happiness to his heart. The smile from those tiny lips no longer calmed her down. There was something that disturbed the calmness of his soul, something was missing from his heart.

A taste that he fertilized to grow lush and sure will flower bushy. Even with the fruit later. But was the tree buried first? Or is withering slowly eaten up time? I don't know.

Alfin sighed for the next time. Counting fingers over and over again, I don't know what he's doing? The low voice of the children's chatter did not also fill the emptiness of Alfin's heart. He misses someone. The one he left behind was sick.

Alfin raised his face, brazing a glance at one small figure sitting pensively under a guava tree. Her petite face looked sad and gloomy, as if there was a very disturbing burden of thought.

"God!" call Alfin from where he sits.

The little girl turned her face away from him, Alfin sighed. He knew why Halwa was acting this way. It had been since yesterday that he had asked to meet with Naina, but Alfin had not been able to bring them together.

He got up and stepped slowly closer to her, sitting next to the little girl with a sigh. Halwa who turned her face, now turned her back on Alfin.

"You miss Mom?" ask Alfin to open the language.

One second, two seconds, three seconds, no answer. Again Alfin exhaled, heavy and tight. Could it be that Naina felt now as she felt right now?

"Let's look at Mom. He was sick and is now in the hospital" he continued, hoping the girl would ignore him.

Slowly Halwa raised her face, and twisted her body to face her foster father. His little eyes were filled with longing, looking at Alfin questioningly.

"Why didn't you tell me you were sick? Let's go look at mom, Dad," whined Halwa while shaking Alfin's hand.

Alfin smiled, wiping the damp hair of the Little One lovingly. He nodded his head at the invitation of the little girl.

"Yes, but not now. You already want maghrib, God willing tomorrow if there is no obstacle we go to see mother," promised Alfin greeted a happy smile from Halwa's lips.

He approached all his brothers to clean up. In a moment the Maghrib Adhan will be echoed, Alfin sighed. Is he going to the hospital tomorrow? What if his heart is not ready? Halwa would be disappointed in him.

"Oh God!"

"Allahu Akbar ... Allah Akbar!"

"Alhamdulillah!"

Alfin moved when someone proclaimed the Adhan in his mosque. Take ablution water, wet every member of ablution to cleanse it from hadas.

The coolness of the water that touches the scalp, gives a little peace to his heart that is still gone. He stood in the back row, avoiding the orders of Ustadz Hasan who often asked him to replace him as a priest or just iqamah.

After the prayer, Alfin followed a routine study held at the mosque. Filled by Ustadz Hasan as old and poured in the mosque. Alfin solemnly listened, as his hands were busy turning the prayer beads.

How's Naina doing now, huh? Is she okay? I am ashamed to ask my sister. I am also ashamed to go to the hospital. Oh my God, what should I do?

Alfin's heart murmured sadly, there was a longing that ranted to be treated. There is a sense to be resolved. Time passed, the wedding plan just counts the days.

Alfin quietly left the mosque, unsettled his heart continuously thinking about Naina's state. He went to the room where he usually rested, lying down while looking at the phone screen where Naina's picture smiled.

"I miss you, Nai, but I'm ashamed to see you. Sorry for not looking at you anymore. I hope you'll never hate me, Nai. I hope you don't stay away from me."

In her room, Naina sat pensively facing the door. Wishing that someone she missed would show up and give her a little smile. For two days Alfin did not come to visit. Let alone that, giving news over the phone is not there. Even with Khadijah, since his departure that day, he has not come again.

"Have I been forgotten?" muttered.

He bent both feet and hugged them tightly. He dropped his head on it, not taking both eyes off the wooden door. Naina broke down, curled up to embrace her own body. Tears fell drop by drop soaking up the bedsheets beneath.

Remember when still living in Jakarta, twice failed to marry just because of unclear origins. Now, when anyone can accept, must be extinct because of an incident that does not wear.

"Why don't you hear my explanation first. Why don't you believe me? I'm not at all allowed*s*, they're not perfect to admit it's me!" naina's moans are getting sobbing.

The shadow of Alfin's face that promised that night, was present across the mind room. How sure he looks, but he's not. Doubt Naina even though she doesn't want to. Who wants to be a victim of abuse?

Trauma due to insults alone still imprint in memory, plus almost a victim of depravity of male creatures. That made Naina worse off, locked in deep sadness.

"What should I do, mother? Everyone can't accept me now. I want to go with mom. I don't want to be here anymore, Mom. Invite me to go with mom," Naina's moans sobbing more and more bitter.

He got out of bed, walked slowly out. Just walk down the hospital hallway alone. There were a lot of human traffic, but no one noticed. Busy with each other's affairs, indifferent to the surroundings.

Naina climbed the stairs, continuing to walk up towards the highest floor. It was as if his legs were not feeling tired, continuing to move forward. Until he arrived on the roof of the building, the wind blew with his firmness. He flew the patient's clothes that Naina was wearing, as well as her hair that was not covered with a veil.

Naina's steps did not stop there, continuing to the edge of the roof of the building. Tears that fell scattered in the wind, some flew, some fell on the roof of the building.

Naina stood there, staring at the clear sky that day, but her heart was not as bright as the blue expanse above. His gaze was lowered, staring at the rows of vehicles that were stuck in traffic. Also downstream are humans in the hospital building yard. The sound of screams, hysterical screams, echoed up to the roof, but Naina was not heeded.

He continued to sob, lamenting the misfortunes that came crashing.

"Hi, down! Don't stand there!"

"Come, down!"

Alfin who had coincidentally come to visit her, was caught by the human crowd in the courtyard. He looked up, staring at the roof of the hospital building.

His breathing stopped instantly with both eyes wide.

"Naaina!" Mumbled softly.

"NAYNA! DON'T DO IT, BABY!"

"DOWN, NAINA!"

Alfin screamed as he ran into the crowd. However, her presence did not make Naina undo the intention. He broke free, drifting free from the roof of the building with no regrets.

"NAYNA! NOOOOOOO!" Alfin ran with both hands outstretched about to capture the girl's body.

"MAINE!"
