The Origin of Sundang Majapahit
The martial art of Sundang Majapahit or Majapahit martial art was created by Mahesa Anabrang. One of the great generals of Majapahit combines the military martial arts of Singasari kingdom and also the Dharmasraya area located in West Sumatra.
The merging of these two unique martial arts eventually formed the extremely terrifying Sudang Majapahit. With this martial art, a war warrior could use a broken technique combined with several weapons such as machetes, kris and other weapons.
Broadly speaking, Sundang Majapahit has a battle technique that is divided into several elements. First, an element of defense called Sundang Gunung. Second, the element of attack called Sundang Kali. Third, the element of conquest is referred to as the Sea Legate. Fourth, Invite the Wind to the infiltration element. Finally, the Sun Invite for the protection of the king and his family.
The elements contained in the Sundang Majapahit above can be combined with each other. All of them have their own functions and will be very helpful in winning all battle situations. As long as there is still a weapon, even if it is just a wooden stick, all the techniques of Sundang Majapahit can be executed properly and correctly.
Sundang Majapahit is known to be very deadly, so anyone who fights the owner of this martial art, as well as looking to die. Ranggalawe's body was torn apart after fighting Mahesa Anabrang. This science cannot be stopped in the middle of the road. Once science is used, there is only one end: death.
As a martial art created by Mahesa Anabrang, not everyone can learn it. He passed the knowledge on to his son, Adityawarman. Then Adityawarman passed this knowledge to the soldiers of Majapahit kingdom and also subordinate kingdoms such as Bugis Gowa, Dhamasraya in Sumatra and Sulu in the Philippines.
After Majapahit was destroyed, the kingdom could not save him. So that this martial art disappeared and could not be found anymore. Some kingdoms under Indonesian jurisdiction today have also disappeared except the Sulu Kingdom in the Philippines. Until now, the martial art is considered as one of the typical Philippine martial arts.
What should be the heritage of Indonesia it belongs to another country. Even the martial art that was finally named Eskrima has entered Indonesia and many people learn the martial art without knowing its origin. Very very Miris!
