Chapter 57 Destiny

During her unconsciousness, Anika dreams of being in a very dark room. He can't see anything, can't feel anything. In front of her appeared a bright light from afar which when chased, Anika instead fell into a very deep hole.

He felt himself sitting in a wheelchair and being pushed by someone down a long hospital hallway. Anika touched her enlarged belly but felt no movement from her fetus. She then saw fresh blood flowing out of her womb, soaking the bottom of her clothes all the way to the entire floor of the passageway.

Looking at the blood everywhere, Anika started breathing heavily. He was crying not wanting what he had feared to happen. When she turned to ask the nurse who pushed her wheelchair, she found Jane with a mouthful of blood smiling at her.

Afraid of being eaten by the cannibal woman, Anika shouted loudly calling Kairi's name, who immediately came to her aid by beheading the terrible woman. Fresh blood splashed all over Anika's face, and she instantly snapped unconscious from her stupor.

Anika can not feel any influence of drugs that are still left behind due to the operation she just ran. He was lying limp with an oxygen mouthpiece on a hospital bed. His head was still dizzy and his eyes were still heavy from losing too much blood.

"My darling?" Kairi immediately smiled happily to see his wife finally opened her eyes after a day of unconsciousness. He immediately kissed his forehead and clasped his wife's weakly drooping hand.

Anika wants to get up and sit down but is held back by Kairi because of her weak condition.

"My baby .... Where's my baby ...?" That was the first thing he asked considering that his dream that felt real began to pervade his mind.

Anika looked at her husband for answers, but Kairi could not hide her sadness. From the expression on her husband's face, Anika knew what the answer was. The foetus, which was almost six months old, could not be saved from the accident that had happened to him.

That fact made Anika so devastated that she was speechless. His vision became empty not wanting to think anymore. His heart was too sick to imagine that the fetus he had been guarding for five months, would never be able to meet him.

Seeing his wife's desperate situation, Kairi did not know what to do. Since being told by doctors that her baby could not be saved, she almost strangled the dead doctor who she said did not really do her job as a doctor to save people.

He left the room because he could not bear to see his wife as if she had lost her soul. Kairi starts punching the automatic drink machine with one hand until the glass cracks, when Yuri appears while holding her daughter on her chest in a baby sling.

"You will lose your hand again if you continue it, brother." he relaxed not afraid of the killer who came out of his brother.

Kairi finds life as a killing machine easier than being a husband or a father-to-be. He did not need to feel the stifling emotions he was now feeling as a result of losing the person he loved and his future and hopes.

Yuri approached him and patted him on the shoulder. "Not to be sad, make the child easy, right?"

Kairi tried to punch her sister, upset with her selfless jokes, but stopped in the middle because she realized Irina was clinging to her father's chest while holding the baby pacifier with a sinless face.

During Anika's unconsciousness, Kairi has been told by Yuri about the story that actually happened in the Dragunov family, that the cannibal is actually not Yuri but his wife. He only serves to conceal his wife's true identity in order to eliminate Jane's cannibalistic habits. And that Irina is not Yuri's flesh and blood but a child of rape.

All of this has to do with their father manipulating multiple parties so as to get what he wants. Kairi hates his father for indirectly harming his wife, and begins to commit suicide. Yuri who used to always ask for cooperation to arrest her father even now rejects her brother's willingness.

"I told you to go with your wife until she's completely stable!"

Kairi fell silent.

All this time he thought he could make Anika happy, unlike Yaslan who often hurt her. But the truth is he's just as incompetent as even lower than Yaslan. This made Kairi feel unworthy to be next to Anika.

"Take him for me as long as I'm not around" is the only thing he can think of.

"She's your wife's sister, I have no responsibility to take care of her. Moreover, you have killed my wife."

Yuri who saw his cannibal wife killed before his eyes felt nothing. Since childhood actually his emotions half-dead, he married Jane also on the basis of obligation as a police officer to protect their citizens because they feel sorry for Jane who is a victim of rape. What happened to his late wife was the result of his father's actions that made him have to do something to Jane.

"You want to finish off your father, right?" kairi asked as she looked at Yuri who was lower than her.

Yuri fell silent. She often saw the murderous expression of her brother, but only this time was she really scared. Even Irina started to cry from being intimidated by her dark aura.

"I'll be right back if I manage to chop off her head" continued Kairi who was not repulsed by Yuri for being busy calming Irina down.

She began to shake her body to ease her daughter's cries, but her cries grew louder until her pacifier fell. She took off her baby sling and held Irina up high and invited her to play until her daughter laughed out loud. Yuri had forgotten the murderous air and her brother's intentions earlier.

Due to being questioned, Kairi went back into his wife's room with the intention of saying goodbye but found her asleep.

"I'm sorry, my dear" Kairi said, caressing her and kissing her on the forehead for a long time.

When she was about to get out, Anika managed to grasp the end of her clothes.

"Where are you going?"

Kairi couldn't answer that which made Anika start to shed tears.

"You want to leave me too?"

His instincts and feelings that become more sensitive make him traumatized to lose his loved ones again.

But Kairi's intention to abandon his wife and kill all the bastards including his father until there's nothing left for his wife to be safe, is powerful.

Kairi returns to his wife's side and kisses her forehead. "I'll always be with you, my dear." she smiled at Anika to make her feel calmer.

Anika knew her husband's smile was insincere, but she just kept quiet. He did not want to expect much and thought to resign to what would happen to him in the future.

"You have to promise to kiss me again" he exclaimed, wanting to be calm, even if Kairi's words were a lie.

Kairi is surprised his wife is inedible with his sweet dust. He realized he could not lie to his wife and chose not to hide her anymore.

"I promise I'll give you more than a kiss" she said before they parted again for the third time.

It seems like Anika and Kairi have not been able to live quietly.

What will happen to them going forward?
