It's been three days since I got out of the hospital.
Which means Dio's been leaving this world forever.
And that means three weeks left for me to pay off the half-billion wedding debt.
I still think hard, what should I do to earn that kind of money?
I didn't want my father and mother, who lived a simple life for many years, to give up her last possessions just for this debt in her old age.
I don't really want to bother Gery and Anna. But they are willing to lend me some money with half force.
In fact, they compactly said if I refused help, then our friendship would be over.
I need to find a side job.
Flexible work so as not to disturb my working hours as a doctor.
I'm still brain-winding, looking for ideas to find extra money when I hear the sound of the motor exhaust stopping in front of my house.
Motor sounds Gery.
Gery got off the bike and went straight into my house without knocking on the door.
Gery was like my own brother. My mother and father also never disturbed our closeness since we were children.
Understandably, Gery's mother was a close friend of my mother who knew because she was included in the PKK complex. In the past, both of our mothers even joked that we would be betrothed when we grew up.
The joke certainly did not materialize. Through Gery, I was introduced to Dio, his bandmate from High School. Through me, Gery gets to know Becca, his first girlfriend whom he can't forget until now.
To this day, Becca is always there on Gery's day and will never be replaced.
You could say, me and Gery are fateful. We came from a simple yet loving environment of princes and princesses by accident.
I fared better because Dio was willing to fight for me until close to our wedding day. Meanwhile, Gery succumbs to his fate after Mother Dio terrorizes Gery's family to cut off her relationship with Becca.
Now, Dio is no more. Dio's family even wanted to hurt me by asking for our failed marriage refund.
It was Gery who understood this situation the most because he had been treated as badly as the family.
tock.tok..
"Cell, I'm anterin working yes" said Gery's voice from behind the door.
I am preparing to return to work after a week out. Gery came at the right time to pick me up.
I opened the door and found Gery ready in his work suit.
Actually, Gery's workplace is not in the same direction as the hospital I work at, but he feels it doesn't matter.
I'm really lucky to have a best friend like Gery.
"Kok tumben want to nganterin?"
Gery slightly clumsy replied but he finally replied
"You're not a stable cell yet. After all, you used to be picked up by Dio, right," Gery was a bit sorry to say that because my countenance must have changed.
"Sori Sel, I didn't mean to tell you about Dio. I'm just worried" he said in a hurry.
I tried to smile while embracing her out of the house. My mother and father were running off in the morning together so I just left without saying goodbye.
"Well, there are a lot of patients waiting for me to be healed!"
Gery stroked over my head, "Here's Selena!"
I haven't been piggybacking on Gery for a long time, this time we travel together again like when High School used to be.
The road to where I work is quite jammed, but Gery is a former wild racer at school first so speeding when stuck is not a problem for him. I arrived 30 minutes earlier than usual.
Upon arriving, Gery insists on having breakfast in the hospital cafeteria with me. I said it wasn't necessary because he was going to be late for his office, but he didn't care.
"Today you're weird, Ger, "I said in surprise.
We arrived at the cafeteria that was packed with health workers for breakfast. Gery looked at me for an empty seat. Surprisingly, we even headed to one of the tables that a woman had occupied.
The long brown curly haired woman who at first glance reminded me of Dio. When we arrived, the woman turned her head and a familiar atmosphere enveloped me.
Beccas.
Becca stood up and hugged me. We hugged for a long time, Becca still looked emotional and her eyes were puffy. Gery quickly wiped Becca's tears and half-hugged her from the side.
Turns out this was the purpose of Gery behaving strangely this morning.
He wants to bring me and Becca together.
We asked each other the news and exchanged feelings. Until finally Becca came back crying and apologizing to me.
Becca sighed, "First, I want to apologize for the ridiculous condition my father and mother had you suffer."
"I'm also sorry I couldn't help you, because my mom knows we're close so she's freezing my savings until next month."
Whahuh?
How much do Om Ferdi and his wife hate me? Is that how he wants me to be torn to death?
"Surely Dio also has future savings. And the emergency recipient when she dies is you, Cell."
My tears that have been dry for a week come back.
I was devastated to learn that the person I love so much gave her whole life to secure my life.
"But my mother moved first and cashed her money in her name. I'm really sorry to be late knowing this is Cell" he said.
If I could choose, I really don't want to hear any more of this.
I've had a bad week and don't want to hear anything that adds to my bad mood.
"No problem, Bec. I've been broken enough to not feel any more pain" I quipped.
I don't know why, Becca felt so guilty.
She then took my hand and said she had one way to free me from my own wedding payment.
"You know Josh Rainer?" ask Becca.
I shook my head, Gery nodded.
"He's the new CEO of the company I work for" Gery said. "His father died last month, and after that he replaced his father" Gery said.
Gery seemed to sigh as he continued, "However, this week he's gone."
Gone off?
"He's not missing" Becca said quickly.
Becca looks pale as she tries to continue her sentence, "Josh. She's actually very sick."
"He needs a doctor to cure him. This should be kept secret as it concerns the continuation of the company, as Josh's illness is unusual."
"Why should it be kept secret?" sewot Gery's.
"Because the company is an open company and is growing rapidly. In one month left two CEOs is not a good thing for the continuity of the company's stock price," explained Becca. "Please keep this a secret from all your coworkers as well."
"What is she sick?' manya curious.
"Lost memory" Becca replied sadly. "Because of the accident and four days ago had surgery."
"If you're willing, I'll talk to his mother to pay you up front so you can pay the debt to my mother. How's Cell?"
Do I have any other choice?
I don't need to think any longer.
"When can I meet Josh Rainer?"
