Lebaran Ketupat

Back to Jogjakarta, now Bu Tari looks busy making ketupat. All this is also because one week after Lebaran, Javanese people will celebrate Lebaran Ketupat. Where people will make rhombus and eat it together.

The origin of this ketupat leaflet was started by Sunan Kalijaga, one of the Wali Songo (Nine Guardians who spread Islam in Java and several islands in the archipelago). Ketupat is a type of food made from rice that is inserted into the janur (woven coconut leaves). The stew is woven into a kind of prism-shaped pouch, then cooked. After that, the ketupat will be delivered to the closest relatives or older people.

Historically, Kupatan was the result of the Walisongo's thought in spreading Islamic proselytism through culture. Generally, this tradition is carried out by Javanese people who always held after the celebration of Eid al-Fitr as a hope to forgive each other.

"What's new, Mom?" ervita asked her mother-in-law.

"Make a rhombus, Vi. Today is the day of the Rhombus. Earlier, I bought a little rhombus. Can celebrate obedience together," replied Miss Tari.

Then Ervita remembered that it was now the seventh day after Lebaran. In the past in Solo, his mother also always made ketupat and enjoyed with family. Especially in Solo there is a tradition of anchoring in the Bengawan Solo River. There are even some famous figures who will become Jaka Tingkir and anchor the rhombus on the Bengawan Solo River. Solo residents scramble ketupat because it is believed to bring blessings.

"Ervi just remembered that today lebaran ketupat," he replied.

"There's also Solo, right?" ask Bu Tari.

"She, Mom. In the past in Jurug Animal Park which is now Solo Safari has always been used as a place to anchor ketupat. Ervi was a child at that time, very cool when seeing hornets," the story goes.

"Where in the lab, Vi?" ask Ms. Dance again.

"On the Bengawan Solo River, Ma'am. It has been a tradition since the time of the royal court of Surakarta. So it's done continuously" Ervita told me.

After that, Ervita helped Bu Tari make Sambal Fried. Because ketupat will be very good to eat with Sambal Fried. Indeed, that is how Ervita, without being asked, had taken the initiative to help her mother-in-law.

"Seneng loh, Mother .. you, without being asked to help," said Bu Tari.

"Yes, Mom. If only help-help certainly Ervi will also help kok," he replied.

"Your good daughter-in-law, Vi. The kids don't fuss The mother cooks here?" ask Ms. Dance again.

Ervita quickly shook her head. "No, Ma. If it is the same, it is safe. It is precisely the Nda that can not get a place. Indi and Irene both nempel yayahnya," replied Ervita.

Hearing Ervita's story, Ms. Dance laughed. However, it was so in his observation that Indi and Irene were so attached to Pandu. Not infrequently Pandu holds his two daughters together. One on the right thigh and one on the left thigh.

"The girl did consider her father her first love, Vi. Patient, or you want to add another baby. That guy, if you know you want to nempelan Bundanya," replied Miss Tari.

"You and Pandu are young. Add again. It seems Pandu also does not mind," replied Bu Tari.

"Yes, Mom. Ervi and Mas Pandu also want two first."

After a long time cooking together ketupat with Sambal Fried, Chicken Opor, and Shrimp Crackers is available. In addition, Pertiwi also made Kopyor Ice which will accompany lunch.

"Yuk, we take it to Pendopo yuk, eat together," said Bu Tari.

ART there that brings food out, serves it in Pendopo. Presumably the Pendopo has become a comfortable place to gather the Hadinata family. Mr. Hadinata also started and told his children, grandchildren, and son-in-law to enjoy Ketupat Lebaran together.

"Ayo-ayo, on a meal first. Today is still Lebaran, Lebaran Ketupat. For the people of Java Lebaran is interpreted as a symbol of togetherness and affection" said Mr. Hadinata.

Ketupat itself has the meaning of 'Laku Papat' namely Lebaran, Luberan, Melburan, and Laburan. Lebaran is the action that has been completed, taken from the word width. The meaning is finished in the fasting service. Luberan or overflow, which symbolizes to do alms with sincerity like abundant water to overflow from the container. So, the tradition of sharing or giving alms on Eid al-Fitr is a custom of Muslims in Indonesia. Melting means melting as in Indonesian. Melting during Eid al-Fitr is characterized by the melting of sins by forgiving each other or having a friendship. Laburan comes from the word blur which means white chalk. The meaning is that a person's heart can return to white and holy after worship during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Many meanings and philosophies of each culture exist and continue to be preserved in society. Therefore, worship does not stop even though the month of Ramadan is over. The door to forgiveness is opened, and there is no need to bring up the sins of the past. All have been melted down, turned back to white and holy.

"Dimired and done, we live can not be separated from tradition. Parents also hurt a lot, hopefully my children can grow up to be a person who forgives each other," said Mr. Hadinata again.

It is also seen that Mr. Hadinata is a wise figure. In the past, there was an assumption that parents were always right, but Mr. Hadinata said otherwise that parents are also the wrong place. He also hopes that the children always get along well and become a forgiving figure.

Pandu and Ervita, Pertiwi and Damar both nodded their heads. It was a pleasure every time I got advice from my father. Advice and teachings like this are beginning to diminish in this day and age. Therefore, Pandu and Pertiwi are very happy when getting a lot of advice about life from their Father.

"Come, Pertiwi, Pandu, Damar, Ervita eaten. We are melted down and invested together. Forgive each other. Father and Mother also apologize if a lot is wrong," said Mr. Hadinata again.

"Sign, Father," replied the son and daughter-in-law in unison.

"If Solo is different, Vi?" ask Mr. Hadinata.

"The meaning is the same, Father. It's just that there is the tradition of Labuhan Ketupat on the Bengawan Solo River, it means throwing away all sins, starting a better life" Ervita replied.

"Yes, so. Solo and Jogja are close, the culture is also tied to each other. Culture like this that we must preserve," replied Mr. Hadinata.

Culture can be destroyed by the times. Children and the present generation must preserve. If not, it is surely slowly a culture full of philosophical values like this will be lost.
