Ch. 100: Where is Rai?

Ryo, who had just returned home from work late, was now riding the last train that night. To fill the gap during the trip, he tried to open a news link that became trending tonight. Because, throughout his time at the station, he continued to hear people talking about Black Shadow and the death of the justice minister.

There are many articles appearing on the search screen, all of which were published only a few minutes or even seconds ago. The news articles were about Black Shadow actually executing Mr. Matsumoto as the tenth black official.

Ryo stunned. Pretty long. For some reason, every time he saw Black Shadow, he remembered his brother. Although characteristically, Black Shadow and his brother are certainly far different. He then went back to looking for related news.

The death of the justice minister made everything related to his life suddenly peeled off by the media, including his only child who was courting the metropolitan investigator chief. It suddenly made Ryo's eyes widen. The reason, the figure that appears on the screen at this time is the face of Shohei complete with police uniforms.

Intrigued, he then found out more about the profile of Shohei who turned out to be a general's son with a myriad of achievements in the world of research. He then looked at the face of the girl called the only son of the justice minister. If he doesn't remember wrongly, it's the girl he and Rai saw with Shohei at the bowling alley the other day.

The man who was often with the oniichan was a detective who served as the chief investigator of the Metropolitan?

Suddenly, his memory retreated back in time when Rai had just inhaled the free air of the cell that was holding him.

"Oniichan, how did you get free from all lawsuits?"

"It's thanks to a great detective in the metropolitan. He was interested in my case and managed to uncover the truth. Yuta and Haru don't even bother and have to pay a fine on false charges."

"really? Who's the detective? I want to thank him directly."

"You don't need to know. What matters is that I'm free."

Ryo immediately closed the news link while shaking his head, as if he was about to disperse negative thoughts that began to gnaw his mind. Yes, until this moment, he believes the man in police uniform has a special relationship with his brother. He also felt Rai had romantic feelings towards the man.

Around eleven o'clock at night, Ryo arrived at his luxurious apartment residence. Just getting out of the elevator, he was jolted to see Rai standing next to the door of his dwelling with a pale face.

"Oniichan, what are you doing here?" ryo asked in shock because Rai had never come to his apartment.

"I just got home from work and want to spend the night here. Can, right?" rai tried to hide what was really going on. Seeing the Death of master Matsumoto in plain sight, left him devastated. Because, automatically he is accused of being the killer of the minister's office. To go home to his own apartment, he did not dare.

"Of course you can!" Ryo widened his smile, accepting his brother's arrival with pleasure. The man pressed the password on the door and invited Rai in.

"Ryo, is there anything I can eat?" rai asked as he walked towards the kitchen, then opened the refrigerator and hacked into its contents like a starving person.

"Oniichan did not tell you that you want to spend the night here. Suppose I knew, I'd come home with your favorite food."

Rai opens each kitchen cabinet set, then finds instant cup noodles. "I'll eat this."

On the other hand, Yuriko walked back and forth while trying to contact Rai. Unfortunately, no matter how much he called, but not connected at all. The news in the media really made him worry about the man. In fact, before knowing Rai was Black Shadow, he never cared about the man's life.

Rai sipped the noodles voraciously, showing himself really hungry. Ryo, who was sitting in front of her, looked very happy to see her brother present. He then remembered the latest news that was being discussed warmly.

"Oniichan, did you hear the news about the justice minister's death? I just found out that his son is dating a guy you're always with. I thought ... you've been in a romantic relationship with that guy."

Rai choked instantly, even spitting out his food. He put cup noodles on the table and rushed to get water.

"Where might I be dating a man!" cetus Rai's.

"Yokatta (thank God)! I really saw the Oniichan that used to be! Ever since getting out of prison, you've looked different" said Ryo breathing a sigh of relief. He looked at Rai who was spending his noodles again. "Ne, Oniichan, is that the man who helped you free?"

Rai was silent for a moment, then nodded slowly.

"Is that why you're together so often?"

"Yes, he has helped me a lot."

"What a pity, yes. It turned out that her future father-in-law was a black official and died at the hands of Black Shadow. It must be difficult for him right now, however his name must be smeared."

The man went straight to the room up the bed and enveloped his entire body in a sideways position. Ryo tilted his head while pursing his lips, creating a confused expression over Rai's slightly strange behavior tonight. He even slept while hugging his backpack.

The clock continues to move forward slowly. Rai looked restless and had trouble sleeping. His body wriggled there and there with a cold sweaty face. Mr. Matsumoto who was lying on the floor with blood all over him continued to loom in his memory. Like haunting him. This was the first time he had seen the tragic death of someone in plain sight.

Rai woke up sitting suddenly with a breath of breath. He looked to the side, looking at his sleeping sister peacefully. He rubbed his face violently, while trying to calm his mind.

Time continues to erode the night, until it does not feel a bright morning has been welcomed. A loud clink of alarm, forcing Ryo to open his eyelids heavily. He grabbed the alarm clock above his head, then immediately turned off the alarm. Glancing to the side, he was surprised to see Rai was already absent. He hurried out of the room, but did not find his brother's whereabouts.

The man had left without leaving any message. With his status as a national fugitive, of course he did not want to get his sister involved. Moreover, Ryo is an employee at a large company where not everyone can work there. He did not want to tarnish his sister's name if his identity as Black Shadow was revealed someday.

The day after Black Shadow is designated a national fugitive, the police and military take a heavy guard at Narita airport. They held men of the same height and hairstyle as Black Shadow— sideways with a stiff and hard polish—to be asked for an identity.

At Mr Matsumoto's residence, guests continued to pay their last respects after the funeral. Seina, who was wearing a black channel dress, sat next to the urn containing the ashes of Mr. Matsumoto. The girl's eyes were swollen, with the remains of water still welling up at the corner of the eye.

Shohei and his father arrived in a black suit. The presence of the father and son invited the attention of journalists who immediately immortalized it in their cameras. The two paid their last respects in front of the ashes of the deceased Matsumoto and sat down to join the ranks of the mourners.

"Ottousan, you met him last time at a golf club, didn't you? Is there something he told you?" shohei asked his father who was sitting next to him.

Mr. Yamazaki said quietly, "He asked me to accept Seina in our family."

"Is that all?"

Mr. Yamazaki was silent for quite a while, before returning to say, "Yes, that's all. Besides, just a casual chat."

Shohei glanced at Seina who was sitting pecking while hugging the photo of the late master Matsumoto. Beside him, there is Kei and his parents who also present as the family of the late Matsumoto. The girl's gaze was empty, covered in tears that did not stop flowing.

For a moment, Shohei recalled Matsumoto's late last request.

"Seina is my only child. I can only trust him to a man like you. Please leave her by your side and be happy!"

One by one the guests started to return home, including Shohei and his father. Before leaving, Shohei glanced once more at Seina who was still sitting petrified. Far from the bottom of his heart, he wanted to be by the girl's side to accompany her.

The departure of Shohei and the other mourners, instantly made the atmosphere of the Seina residence quiet. Moreover, Kei and the other families have also left. Right after that, some justice ministry staff and members of the State Intelligence Agency came to visit. Their presence is not for worship, but to check in the workspace of the late Matsumoto.

"The deceased is a state official, therefore we must ensure that the deceased's computers and other digital devices do not keep confidential state documents that others, including families, should not see," said one member of the Intelligence Agency when asking for permission to check in the workspace and room of the late Matsumoto.

Seina looked weakly at the butler. As if understanding, the butler hurried to lead them to master Matsumoto's study and room. Members of the intelligence agency began conducting searches at Mr. Matsumoto's desk and computer. An hour later, they left with a number of state documents.

"Thank you for your permission. We said our deepest condolences." The intelligence members and the ministry staff bowed fully before Seina before they left.

On the lawn of Seina's house, one of the members of the intelligence agency called the mysterious official and informed him if they did not find any suspicious files or documents left by the late Matsumoto. Yes, the intelligence member who called it turned out to be a private secretary as well as an accomplice of a mysterious official. The real purpose of this search was to ensure that Matsumoto did not leave any evidence bearing his name.

"Good!" the official said with a sly smile.

Seina hugged the urn containing her father's ashes and then limped towards her room. His heart was still throbbing pain as it slashed through the pain. How not, his father was killed by leaving a negative stamp of the public as a corrupt official. More sadly, the person who caused his father's death was the man who had made him fall in love.

He opened the nightstand drawer beside his bed, then picked up a dark blue flash. He remembered his father's message saying to guard the flash carefully.
