Ch. 72: Ninth Target

Shohei looked at the hot steam coming out of the coffee cup. It had been about ten minutes after Kei left he was still sitting pensively in the cafe chair. His memory darted at Rai's words suggesting that they speed up the next action.

Shohei took his phone and contacted Rai.

"Moshi-moshi." Rai's voice sounded from behind the phone line.

"It's time to start running the ninth stunt!" shohei said as he walked out of the cafe.

"Woah, the news that excited me!"

"Our target this time is ...." Shohei paused his sentence as he stared at Videotron which featured a politician's campaign, "one of Tokyo's candidate for governor."

"Who is he?"

"He who is well known, simple and populist in the public eye."

"Ah, I'm really not keeping up with the development of the political world. So I don't know some candidate for governor."

"She's the only woman running for governor of Tokyo."

Rai flinched violently. He who happened to be on the shoulder of the road, then looked at a large billboard featuring a beautiful political figure who received the praise of the community lately because of his image.

"It's really gonna be electrifying!" Rai is getting excited.

Shohei looked at the nurse's face. He also notices the expression of one of the security guards being interrogated by detective Shu.

"What did you do at 00:45?" ask Detective Shu to begin the investigation.

"I ran straight to the hospital yard when I heard her screams!"

"Lied!" Shohei immediately patted the table making the security guard and nurse gasp in shock.

"If you really hear the screams of the victims, you should go to the floor of the building where the sound came from, not check into the front yard of the Hospital" Shohei told the man.

The security guard was nervous for a moment. Because at the time of the incident last night he did not hear any sound because he was asleep. It's just that if he testifies like that to the police, he will receive sanctions from his superiors.

"And you ...." Shohei twisted his body with eyes that pointed sharply at the nurse. "When you saw that intern nurse dead, why did you even report to your boss that she killed herself? Why don't you say someone fell off the floor?"

"Because he fell off that floor and nobody was there, so I thought he killed himself" the nurse replied.

"If he commits suicide, he will have severe injuries to his stomach, back and legs. But the wound was focused on the head and arms. Doesn't that mean he wants to protect the body from being hit?" shohei said showing his sharpness to reason awkward things quickly.

"How do I know! You're a doctor, you know better than me!" sniff the nurse.

Shohei smiles. "Just because I'm wearing glasses and in a white suit, you think I'm a doctor, right? Therefore do not quickly draw conclusions from what you see," he said, turning around. When he opened the white coat he was wearing, the nurses and doctors who were there then gasped at the police identification and rank of his position.

"A–is he a detective?" asked the nurse earlier while looking at Shohei who had walked out of the room.

Inspector Heiji nodded. "More than that. He's the chief Metropolitan investigator and a criminal profiler."
