..."Ever since I met you, my eyes have only been on you."...
...~Shohei Yamazaki Ch's. 77~...
...----------------...
There is a quote that says, every fall will always feel pain, as well as when you fall in love. Isn't this what Shohei is feeling? Funny thing is, it's not the first time he's felt the pain of falling in love. Not the first time the girl he loved, but even loved the person he knew.
Suppose that the one Seina loved was not Rai in the form of Black Shadow, maybe he was not this sick. Black Shadow is based on his own alter ego. And if Rai can be honest with him first, maybe he's not this shaky. Maybe he can understand, understand, understand or even let go.
"I think we love each other, it turns out I'm overconfident," Shohei muttered in Yuriko's ear.
A pair of Yuriko's eye beads widened. He felt his shoulders weigh one side when Shohei's head rested there. The girl was shocked, to the point of not being able to move. Increasingly surprised, when their skin accidentally touched.
"Shohei-san, you have a fever!" yuriko panicked.
It seemed that Shohei had lost his consciousness. Yuriko laid the man on the back of the chair, then rushed to the kitchen to prepare a compress. Indeed, he did not know what had happened to him, but Shohei's rapprochement led him to draw conclusions if the man was heartbroken.
Yuriko returned with a compress and placed it on Shohei's forehead. He tried to lay the man's body on the sofa, then opened the three main buttons and also the shoes that were still attached to his feet.
After that, he contacted Kei and Ryo to let him know that Shohei was sick. In other words, they can't hold a meeting today.
Kei let out a heavy sigh upon hearing the news. "It looks like we should let Kazuya Toda feel his new position first."
"Yes, no matter what Mr.'s health. White is more important. It must have been too much of a burden on his mind until he fell ill," added Ryo.
"What about your own brother? If Shohei is sick and in Yuriko's care, doesn't that mean she's not with your sister?" ask Kei.
"Ah, I'll call him now." Ryo stood up while picking up his phone then pulled over to contact Rai. Unfortunately, Rai's phone is out of reach. Ryo shook for a moment, while remembering Yuriko's words earlier.
Just like Rai, Shohei's phone can't be connected when Seina contacts him. Not only this morning, he had even done it since last night after meeting Black Shadow. In fact, he wanted to meet with the man to talk about many things, including those related to the death of his father.
In the metropolitan police, elite detectives belonging to the first division under the leadership of Shohei, are shocked to learn their chairman took an impromptu leave two days ago. Actually, it was Shohei doing because he wanted to focus on his last mission in trapping Kazuya Toda.
"It's worth the invisible chairman these few days. Do you know why Chairman Yamazaki suddenly took a leave of absence?" ask one of the detectives to Seto Tanaka.
Seto raised his shoulders. "I don't know either."
"Sweet, you're his secretary. Why didn't the chairman say anything to you?" ai Otaka asked in astonishment.
Shortly after, Inspector Heiji entered the room, informing her that Seina was ready for questioning.
"Tanaka-san, you're the only one interrogating Miss Matsumoto-san tomorrow morning" Inspector Heiji pointed out.
"Ah, I can't! Tomorrow morning I have to investigate another case from where it happened directly," Seto refused, he patted Ai Otaka's shoulder sitting next to him, "Ai, I'm handing Miss Matsumoto over to you."
Ai Otaka flinched for a moment. "Did?!"
Yuriko is still in Shohei's apartment. He cooked the porridge for the man while routinely changing the compress. Shohei blinked his eyes slowly, the light bias of the lamp was so dazzling to his eyes. He touched his forehead and found a cloth compress on his forehead.
Shohei tried to get up, but seemed troubled. His head really felt heavy. Yuriko who saw him instantly came to help him to sit down. Shohei gasped at the presence of the girl.
"Yuriko-chan is?" said slowly.
"Thank God, you're conscious." Yuriko breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, yes, I made you some porridge. Eat a little, then take your medicine!" said the girl as she went to the kitchen and brought a tray containing a bowl of porridge.
Noticing Yuriko taking care of him, Shohei immediately said, "Arigatou. You shouldn't bother taking care of me."
"When have you been here? Aren't you still on vacation?" shohei asked while massaging his head which was painful due to consuming too many alcoholic drinks.
"Since this morning. We all gathered at the base. But only Shohei-san and Rai are absent. We thought you two were together. So I I decided to check on Shohei-san here," explained Yuriko.
Hearing Rai's name, Shohei's countenance suddenly changed. There was a sense of disappointment that suddenly infiltrated his heart. If he recalls, Rai helped him buy this apartment that was reserved specifically for him and Seina. Unfortunately, the future order that he designed, has been damaged instantly.
It seemed that Yuriko saw the change in the man's expression as she alluded about Rai. "Are you and Rai ...." Yuriko did not continue her sentence as Shohei immediately looked away.
There were a few seconds left silent without anyone making a sound.
Shohei stared blankly ahead with eyes that contained a pitiful glint. "Where is it that hurts more, loses the person we have or just realizes that we didn't have it in the first place?" tanyanya rasp.
"I think each has the same level of pain. Realizing that we can't have someone is no less sick, too" Yuriko said, recalling the moment that Shohei introduced Seina to her as a potential fiancee.
Yuriko scoops the oyakodo porridge which is still hot, then thrusts it into Shohei's mouth. "Eat first so you can recover!"
Shohei was stunned, then opened his mouth slowly. Letting Yuriko bribe him.
"Why don't you use celery?"
"Because Shohei-san doesn't like celery."
Shohei surprised. "Where did you know that?"
"Because every meal has celery menu, you always leave celery at the end of the plate. I know you don't like wasabi either. You always tie from the left first, and always force a smile when you hear words you can't understand."
Shohei was silent for a moment, then said in a low tone. "Is that so? I just found out about myself."
"I'm always watching you. It's just that, Shohei-san never noticed it," Yuriko said with a wry smile. Seeing the person he liked like this, somehow Yuriko's heart seemed to blister.
"Are you listening to your heart?" he said while smiling blandly.
"You're doing it again!"
"Eh?" Shohei frowned not understanding.
"Forcing a smile when you don't understand someone's intentions" Yuriko explained.
"Is that so?" Shohei was slightly jolted and could only be stunned.
"But you guessed it right. I intentionally heard my heart and still want to hear it to you. I've been interested in you since we first met. I was thrilled when you allowed me to work by your side, I thought I had a chance to grab your attention. Apparently not. I even felt heartbroken when you brought a girl who exceeded me and introduced her as your future fiance. Wanting to give up on this feeling, but feeling like you haven't struggled yet. And now, I feel the pain when you're heartbroken and disorientated like this. Therefore, consider me the antidote to the wound in your heart!"
At this moment, Shohei was only able to flinch as he stared at Yuriko's eyes. It was as if a large chunk of rock was clogging his throat, leaving him speechless for quite a while.
"I'll wait .. until you're okay and your feelings can accept me" Yuriko said, replying to Shohei's gaze.
