Ch. 119: Learn from the Shells!

True, the figure of the man who walked full of charisma was Megumi Jun, the Metropolitan Police Chief who had just finished taking the title of law professor abroad. The man with an IQ of 190 is now approaching Shohei who welcomes him with joy.

Shohei saluted his senior who had become the supreme superior of the Metropolitan Police.

"What's wrong with you? You don't look good!" ask Jun. Yes, as a profiller expert who also mastered the science of psychology, he easily guessed the condition of people just by looking at their facial water.

Shohei shook his head slowly. "Just a job. Isn't the look on a detective's face never good at thinking about a myriad of problems to solve?"

"You're working too hard!" Jun patted Shohei on the shoulder, "There are two things I missed when I left Tokyo. The metro police building and you, too," Jun said with a smile.

"Naromachi, Senpai. I feel flattered. I also miss our togetherness, especially every time you treat me to a drink," Shohei replied with a laugh.

For a moment, his gaze was diverted to the woman standing beside Jun, who looked like she was pregnant.

Shohei displayed a surprised expression while commenting on a wide smile then said, "Senpai, congratulations! You'll be a father!"

"Arigatou," Jun retorted with a special smile.

They continued the chat at the restaurant that Shohei had booked before.

Jun's wife thrust a parcel at Shohei. "It's Sachi and Rui's for you."

Shohei was stunned for a moment when Jun's wife mentioned his former lover's name. He took the parcel that had been written by his name.

"Are Sachi and her husband okay? I haven't seen him in a long time." He recalled, the last time he met her while attending the girl's wedding was exactly a year ago.

"They decided to stay in Germany. A week ago we had a chance to see them there," Jun replied, "huft, if I still had a little sister, I'd betrothed you again."

Naturally Jun said that, Shohei was more than just a junior sister to him. The bespectacled man is where he shares grievances, work and personal problems. As for Shohei, his respect for his senior never faded. To him, Jun was a teacher in every way, especially with regards to investigation. He often brainstorms with her to solve case after case.

Jun's wife directly connected with the face facing towards Shohei. "He never got along with Rui! If they meet, they always argue trivial things," said Jun's wife tells of Jun's relationship with her sister's husband who was also Shohei's upperclassman first.

"really?" Shohei's eyes were rounded with lips that held back laughter.

"What is your relationship with Matsumoto's son?" june asked who started eating the dishes, "even though I'm abroad, I still know the rumors that occur in the office."

"Ah, this must have been Heiji-san, the gossip monger," he lamented that his relationship with the son of the late justice minister was leaked by inspector Heiji.

"So right, you're actually getting married in the near future?" ask Jun back.

Shohei immediately lowered his head while forcing a smile. "We have not decided the direction of our relationship. Whether it will continue or not. He's still devastated by his father's death, so I guess he ...." The sentence just stopped. He instead recalled the expression of the girl's heart as she disguised herself as Black Shadow.

Seeing Shohei's expression, Jun immediately said, "I think Yamazaki-san meets the standard of a dream man for women who want to have a serious and clean relationship. Even when I found out you broke up with my sister, I was heartbroken. If my son is born and is really a girl, I'll betrothed him to you again."

His wife immediately chuckled while interrupting. "If it's like that, Yamazaki-san will have to wait for about 19 more years."

"True, yeah. How old are you now?" ask Jun.

Jun initially introduces his younger sister to Shohei, but is ultimately matchless because his younger sister loves another man instead. Like repeating an old story, after seven years have passed, the justice minister betrothed his daughter to Shohei. Naas, the girl he loved was back to love another man who incidentally was the closest person.

The atmosphere suddenly quieted down. Jun and his wife just stared at each other in silence.

"Ah, sorry, I've changed the mood to be uncomfortable. I think I need to go to the bathroom for a minute." Shohei stood up and rushed up from his seat.

Five minutes later, Shohei, who had just come out of the restaurant toilet, was immediately confronted by Jun. His arm held by the man was then pushed back so as to make him go back inside the toilet.

The two mature men turned their backs on the wall that separated them.

Leaning against the wall, Jun said slowly. "Yamazaki-san, have you heard the story of the clams? The beautiful pearls that shells produce come from the sand that goes into the shell. The shell must be able to withstand pain due to the grains of sand that hit his body for many years. In the end, the pain is sweet because the sand gradually becomes a beautiful pearl of value."

"Unfortunately, after the sand was transformed into pearls, it turns out that the one who enjoys the beauty of pearls is not himself, but a human being" continued Shohei with a bitter smile.

"But, from there we also learn, the pain that natural shells turn out to be not in vain because it can be beneficial to other living things." Jun added. "Yamazaki-san, I'm sure you can be like a clam. Be magnanimous and remain patient withholding wounds, for nothing is in vain for every patience we have."

Shohei. Really, he wants everything back to how it was. However, it seemed that his heart still needed time. Like wood that will remain hollow even though the nails have been released. Himself too. It doesn't hurt, but it can't be forgotten.

On the other hand, Rai is in the Shibuya district. Among the crowd of pedestrians who were about to cross, the man's eyes were suddenly fixated on a news broadcast covering Kazuya Toda's new post as the Head of the National Security Agency. In his press conference, the man who is the tenth target of Black Shadow revealed his vision to maintain the stability of the country, including from things that make the public turbulent.

Knowing Kazuya Toda is still safe until now, making him worry about the fate of the team formed by Shohei after not joining the man again. Will Shohei be able to uncover Kazuya Toda's entire crime? Fearing, Shohei could not even focus on the mission due to personal problems that occurred between them.

He was suddenly reminded by a chat Yuta a while ago who said that he was asked to hack the broadcast of Black Shadow by one of the officials. Regarding Kazuya Toda's treasure that Yuta managed to snatch, it could actually be used as strong evidence to trap the official.

Rai entered the public telephone box. He holds the phone, then starts pressing Shohei's phone number on the available button. However, his hand suddenly stiffened instantly.

"Arigatou, has been helping my mission all this time. To be Black Shadow as I wish. Our relationship ends here. You don't have to fight with me anymore."

The voice that became the parting sentence between himself and Shohei was back in his mind. He realized that he had chosen the road opposite Shohei. After all, he had made a deal with Yuta to help him carry out the scam, in order to replace the money he borrowed. In the end, Rai closed the phone, then left.

After lunch with Jun Megumi, Shohei visits Matsumoto's residence. He was free to waltz in like his own house, because the maid had known him as Seina's future husband.

Standing in front of Seina's room door, it seemed that the man had prepared to meet her lover. He seemed to take a deep breath while closing his eyes.

In fact, when my heart ached, I tried to take her heart by pretending not to mind everything.
