Never Not
Ch. 123: The Same Doer?

Yuta and all the members of the con man were naturally astonished to hear the crazy idea that Rai had just triggered. Really, no one thinks the same. Rai proves that as a big-time con man, he has not changed at all. Always do everything to achieve their goals.

"How can we do that? Ryo is no longer with us!" yuta Cetus. Because, as he remembered, Ryo who was always in charge of running silly and dangerous ideas.

"Just calm! I know that none of you can do it! And so, leave all this to me. I will intervene directly to make the police hassles," said Rai relaxed.

Yuta smiled broadly while patting his hands slowly. He then opened his laptop and showed me a program he had just created.

"In a program that can track the movements of security officers in customs. This program can also be done in a smartphone. Just pressing "Ok" everything we want will be tracked automatically.

"Then make it also to track the movement of our target just in case he comes to that place all of a sudden!"

Yuta shook his head as he looked towards Rai.

"Why? Is that hard?" ask Rai.

"No! Of course it's not difficult at all," Yuta looked immediately.

Rai walked out of the room. Meanwhile, Haru rushed over to Yuta.

"Do you believe Rai completely? What if he betrays us?" Haru looked a little anxious.

"Yes, of course I believe. The problem ... Rai is not us! After all he owes me a lot and promises to pay for it with the success of this mission."

Haru turned his face while snorting.

Understanding if his partner looked worried, Yuta whispered in the woman's ear. "But .. if he breaks this deal, I think you know more about his next move!"

Haru smiled cynically. "To be honest I was annoyed he was constantly ignoring me."

Rai entered the public telephone box. Putting the phone handle on his ear, he began to press the phone number into the available button. He sighed slowly, before his call finally seemed to be connected.

"Moshi-moshi ...." The female voice immediately greeted her hearing. A voice that does not sound feminine.

Rai let himself in silence. While the woman continued to speak.

"Moshi-moshi, who's there?" ask the girl a few times.

Rai is still flinching. However, he was stunned when he realized the phone had been disconnected. It seems that woman decided it.

At the same time, Yuriko throws her phone and dries her hair again. Shortly after, his phone rang again. Yuriko stared at the screen which gave rise to an unknown number. Realizing that the person who called him was the number, he picked him up again.

"Moshi-moshi ...."

Silent. There was still no sound from the caller.

"Moshi-moshi, Aizawa Yuriko. Can you hear me?" ask Yuriko who is prejudiced that the caller's operator signal is experiencing interference.

Rai continued to be silent while smiling faintly. He kept calling the girl, no matter if the phone was going to be switched off.

Yuriko exhaled a rough breath as she received the foreign call for the fourth time. "Moshi-moshi, who are you? Do you know me? Or is there someone to help? Come on, don't be shy!" persuade Yuriko.

There is still no reply. This certainly makes Yuriko become angry.

"Can you talk? If you can, talk! If you can't, you better hang up and don't call me again. Ah, I know! You're not my fan, are you? Quickly tell me where you got my number!" poke the girl in annoyance.

This time Rai tried to hold back the laughter so that he had to close his mouth so as not to make a sound. It seemed, he had no purpose whatsoever to call the girl other than just to hear her voice. Tonight, his longing for the girl was slightly treated. And that's enough for him.

After a meeting with his team, Shohei received a call from a policewoman who served on the Metropolitan police forensics team.

"What about the sand powder contained in the storage room? Is there a result?" shohei asked as soon as the call was connected.

"The result is 98% the same as the sand sample from which you found the shoe tracks at that location" replied the opponent.

Shohei's eyes squinted instantly. His mind seemed to be compiling pieces of a mystery that was still unsolved.

"I've also been looking at the shoe tracks you found around the courtyard of the former justice minister's detention center. The shoe tracks match the shoe tracks found at the street site where you were stabbed" police said.

So anyway. It was certain that the sand was indeed carried by the fake Black Shadow after he accidentally stepped on the sandy soil in the courtyard of the building.

"Araki-san. Can I ask you again?"

"What's that?"

"Please don't tell anyone, including my own people. I want to investigate this case secretly."

"All right! I-i understand. If you need help, just call me."

Without the policewoman noticing, detective Shu secretly hears her conversation over the phone line with Shohei. Apparently, from earlier the man who had been Shohei's superior was in the forensic laboratory to find out first every forensic team investigation results that came out. Naturally, for a big case involving state officials like this, the police are competing to solve it in order to gain an award or recognition.

On the other hand, elite first division detectives who are in the shade of Shohei, are overtime to solve cases of death that have not been revealed, including the death of Mr. Matsumoto. Suddenly Detective Shu enters through the room in a hurry.

"Do you know about the shoe tracks found in the building where the late justice minister was holding?" ask the police in the room.

"What do you mean?" ask the police with a confused look.

"I overheard Araki-san talking to Yamazaki-san over the phone. Forensics said the shoe tracks found around the site of the building where the late justice minister was found were similar to those found around the Yamazaki stabbing site," detective Shu said he was repeating what he heard in the forensic room.

All the detectives in the room then gasped, including Seto Tanaka and Ai Otaka.

"Didn't forensics and the investigation team at the time report no traces of shoes found at the site?" ask one of the police.

"Yes, it's true. But it seems like Yamazaki-san came back to the location and did a secret investigation. He managed to find traces of footprints around the sandy courtyard of the building. The sand grains in the room where the victim was found also matched the sand piles that contained traces of the perpetrator's shoes" explained detective Shu, who apparently heard all the chatter between Shohei and forensic members.

"Does that mean Black Shadow also stabbed the chairman?" Seto spoke for a moment.

The other policemen were again astonished and joined in remembering the stabbing case experienced by their chairman a few months ago. Moreover, the mastermind has not been revealed until now.

"It could be, but what's he doing it for, huh?" added one of the police.

"That also makes me feel weird. I think what the chairman Yamazaki-san was carrying at the time was in line with the Black Shadow mission" added another policeman.

"It could be because he doesn't want to lose his popularity" Seto said quickly, "The case relates to a viral video of someone asking Black Shadow to help him find a missing host girl. And back then, Black Shadow's popularity as a community hero was skyrocketing. Then chairman Yamazaki-san was very enthusiastic about the case and almost solved it. I think Black Shadow deliberately hurt our chairman because he didn't want anyone to take the case apart from him first." Seto began to issue his arguments.

"It makes sense too." The detectives nodded in agreement with Seto's opinion.

"The bottom line .. The perpetrator of the stabbing of Yamazaki-san and the perpetrator of the arrest and murder of the late justice minister is most likely the same person!" detective Shu said, leaning against the wall, "but .. which makes me wonder, why is Yamazaki-san keeping this a secret to all of us? Why did he choose to investigate it himself?" continued Shu.

"That means, the chairman doesn't trust us. Or ... he might suspect one of us." Ai Otaka who had chosen to be silent because he was focused on his work, suddenly made a sound.

"How can we do that to the chairman?" other police force.

"As Shu-senpai once said, a detective's job is to suspect people. I don't think it matters if the chairman suspects any of us. Isn't that right, Shu-senpai?" Skeptical remarks shot out from Ai's mouth, along with the glances of her eyes directed at detective Shu.

Ai immediately turned her gaze to the computer screen on her desk. Ten minutes later, he received an email on his desk computer. When he opened the email, his eyes widened as if in disbelief.

Ai stood up while packing her things. "I have to get home! I'm sorry I couldn't accompany you guys overtime any longer. Otsukaresama!"

(NT: Otsukaresama Desu\=salam formal used fellow co-workers in Japan)

"Of course it doesn't matter. Otsukaresama!" greet the police cordially as if they were not concerned about the man not completing his work.

As soon as the man came out, the detectives gossiped. "Do we have to respect him from now on?" ask one of the police.

"Of course, I hate having to be sweet with her. But how else, he's the son of the national police chief now! Maybe soon he'll be our boss too!" other police tymbal.

As soon as he exited the building, Ai Otaka immediately picked up his phone and immediately contacted his father. "Moshi-moshi, is Ottousan home now? Or still at the office? I want to talk to you!" said Ai with a cell phone taped to her right ear.
