Never Not
Ch. 26: The Case Behind the Case

Mr. Matsumoto is certainly very happy to hear the decision made by Shohei. Seina is her only child. His wife had long since died, while he was very busy working. So that makes the girl grow up without enough affection from parents. During this time Seina only got the attention of Kei—kakak cousin from her mother's family. Now that Mr. Matsumoto is very old, he must make sure his beloved son falls for the right man.

"Then about when are we going to have an engagement party? Take it easy, I will make a festive party for you, " said Mr. Matsumoto who looks happy and impatient.

Shohei did not answer. He turned his head towards Seina who suddenly let go of her hand.

"What's wrong? Do you disagree?" shohei asked as soon as she saw Seina's face. Again, as an investigator, he has the ability to interpret body language such as facial mimicry, and one's spontaneous actions.

"Ti–no! It's just .. I find it very appropriate that we get engaged after I finish my script." Seina spoke cautiously. In fact, the rejection that he was doing at this time arose spontaneously. He also doesn't know why. Though from the beginning of their introduction, he was already very interested in the man sitting next to him.

"Sokka (so, yeah), I get it. It's better to be like that. In that case, I will wait for Seina's readiness, Mister" Shohei suggested to Mr. Matsumoto while showing off her gentle smile.

"Seina-chan, when will you be able to finish your script?" ask Mr. Matsumoto.

"Maybe next month" he replied in a soft voice.

"Then the engagement can be in the following month. That wasn't too long. You can prepare from now on" said Mr. Matsumoto while eating the restaurant's special dishes.

"If that's the case, if Seina doesn't mind let me prepare. I also planned to take out a condo that we could live in after getting engaged" Shohei said.

"I leave everything to you" said Seina.

What's wrong with me? I shouldn't worry like this, right? Shohei-kun is the right man for me. I don't want a man as good as himself to fall into another woman's arms, but ....

For the next time, Seina recalled the figure of the masked man who kept teasing her mind. The man's voice, smile, eye gaze as well as body scent continued to cling to his mind. Like haunting his days. Was it because he was so curious about the mysterious figure? I don't know!

After lunch together, Shohei took the initiative to drive Seina home.

"Arigato." The word slid suddenly from Shohei's mouth.

"Did?" Seina turned her head towards Shohei with a question mark filled look.

"I thought you were going to refuse to get engaged to me. I was worried," Shohei said, laughing.

"Where might it be like that" Seina looked. To be honest, he still felt very guilty towards Shohei for twice having kissed the foreign man behind him. Plus, the man had instead mastered his thoughts for the past few days.

"Seina-chan, do you want to go to the aquarium with me tomorrow?" take Shohei while driving. This is the first time she has invited a date.

"Can too. It just so happens that I haven't been to the aquarium for a long time, the last time I was in school," Seina said with brightly glowing eyes.

I guess I was just curious about the guy ....

Not felt, the night has returned to show its form. Time shows at ten, which means it's time for the Metro police to act. Shohei, Seto, and one of the police patrol around Ikebukuro area for organized car theft arrest agenda. Meanwhile, other police spread to several points that are prone to be targeted by the perpetrators.

"402 Metro Police are at Nishi Musashino station. We saw a gang of thieves launching the action," one of the police told him via hand-talk.

"Do as we have planned. Don't act like a cop. Remember, we are their targets" Shinta gave instructions to each unit of the patrol car. In fact, since serving as the chief investigator, he has never again taken to the field like this.

Shortly after, Shohei patted Seto's arm while putting his chin forward. Not far from them, a woman was seen running in fear because she was chased by a man holding an alcohol bottle. Even the man dared to pull the woman's bag.

"That must be them. From the face of the man does not look like a Japanese person," Shohei guessed.

"I can't believe they're really conspirators. What a very natural act." Seto amazed while running the car slowly.

"Yes, they should have followed the casting of movie stars instead of thieves and increased the criminal population in Japan" said a police officer who joined them.

"Get out now, and come to them!"

"What about the Chairman?" ask the two policemen.

"I'll hide in the back" Shohei replied.

Seto and his friend got out of the car and pretended to help the woman. The big-bodied man holding the drink bottle immediately ran over.

"Hey, don't run!" Seto rushed to catch up with the man.

"Are you okay, Miss?" ask Seto's friend to care.

The woman did not say anything, she immediately cried sobbing on the shoulder of Seto's friend. However, his eyes blinked softly as if signaling his herd that was hiding.

"Aghts! Who're you?" the thief screams in a foreign language while raising his head. He tried to let go of Shohei's hand that hung around his neck. However, his efforts made it easier for Shohei to handcuff one hand. That way, the thief could not escape because the other handcuffed eye was attached to the wrist of the man named behind Yamazaki.

"We're from Metro police, surrender!" shohei said he showed me his police badge.

On the other hand, a chase action occurs between Seto and one of the thieves. Apparently, the thief really did not expect that he would continue to be pursued by their target. Seto's physical well supported ever won the gold medal in the field of running in the Tokyo Olympic championship, making him able to run fast and chase the thief's plot.

When the heist ran under the bridge, Seto cut off the running direction by making a beautiful jump. The big man gasped when he heard the sirens. When he was about to turn around, Seto came to head and immediately subdued him.

Likewise with Seto's friend, when the thief's plot woman cries to distract him, it's the woman who falls into his trap. It is not difficult for the Metropolitan police to arrest the troubling perpetrators of these crimes these days. Evidently, six perpetrators from two points of the scene were successfully secured in one night. They were immediately led to the Metropolitan Police Department for questioning.

The next day, the six perpetrators are immediately interrogated by detective Shu. The police had trouble retrieving information because the thieves did not speak Japanese fluently. Three are from Thailand, while others are from Vietnam, the Philippines and Myanmar.

Shohei walks towards the interrogation room with Inspector Heiji. Detective Shu came out of the room in a hurry.

"Is there anyone here who understands Thai?" ask detective Shu.

The cops are shaking. Suddenly, Shohei remembered Rai. At one time, the man who graduated from the University of Tokyo mastered several languages. Rai also said he had lived in Thailand for six months. Although Shohei did not know the reason the man settled there for committing fraud against one of the businessmen.

"Did they not understand Japanese at all?" inspector Heiji asked while scratching his head.

"Let me interrogate them. I'll ask my acquaintances to translate directly, please" Shohei said as he picked up his phone and hurriedly contacted Rai.

Ten minutes later, Shohei and Inspector Heiji walked into the interrogation room. He called Rai to help them communicate with the perpetrator. Rai wears female voice effects while talking on the phone. Fortunately, Shohei had already explained to her about the case while outside the room earlier.

Rai began to verbally translate every sentence that came out of the mouth of the perpetrator. They are laborers who work in Hayase Group companies. The company is owned by a social minister named Hayase Kento. According to Rai's translation, the perpetrators were foreign laborers who fled the factory where they worked.

"Why come all the way to work and then run away?" heiji asked frowned.

Rai translated Heiji's question in Thai. One of the perpetrators immediately replied with a weakened face.

"We work in the factory fourteen hours per day. We are paid 80,000 yen a month with six-day work hours per Sunday" Rai said again translating the confession.

"80,000 yen in a month with such working hours? Do they enslave humans?" Heiji looked up as soon as he found out.

"This is against the law. The state only allows companies to work eight hours per day, but they work fourteen hours per day. And their salaries are a real violation of the minimum wage" Shohei said with a sharp eye.

One of the women who was a herd of robbers said with fiery eyes. However, his mimic was suddenly sad when he explained everything into Thai.

"We often get bullying and discrimination while working. We left our country and our family. We came to Japan with a million dreams. But we are not treated like humans. Our energy is drained, not even allowed to take leave or resign because it is under contract. Because we couldn't stand it, we ran away and lived as vagabonds. The Japanese are so evil, they're the ones who make us like this." The woman sobbed as she recounted their beginnings as thieves.

In essence, the reason they did that was to survive. Because, the cars they managed to steal, resold at a sloping price to black goods enthusiasts. The results were divided equally to their peers who numbered in the tens of people.

Hayase Group ... Hayase Kento's ....

Shohei's eyes squealed instantly, because the owner of the company where the thieves worked was included in the list of black officials he kept.

Author notes ⁇ ️️️️

80,000 yen if it is granted about ten million yes, and it is as good as for the size of Japanese workers. Because the minimum wage there is 20 million. reasonable yes, the cost of living there is expensive.

The novel is as complex as Gomen's novel, Aishiteru. Complicatedly it feels the same to me anyway, not the same to you guys. Because I have to make a problem, and I have to solve that problem too.

Keep going, some readers say lately the chapter has become a little. A timing? as long as I write four novels here, each chapter is always more than 1000 words, never under 1000. Even often translucent 2000 words and the core of the story is always in each chapter.so it is not a blank discussion that is deliberately made to extend the chapter/story, or the origin of the update aja let the viewer rise, so it is not a blank discussion that is deliberately made to extend the chapter/story, not that my novel concept 😉.

Btw, I'm original ngakak, in this novel like you read seriously yes, meet strange sentences immediately suspected clue 🤣 ⁇ salut me. Must be the Always Remember reading effect that got the twist bomb, huh? 🤣🤣
