Ch. 136: Died

Seto smiled coldly as he said, "Does the Chairman still remember the case of senator Tomomi Fujimura's accident? Wasn't the investigation of the case handed to me? I found an awkwardness in the accident he had. But, just as it was about to complete my investigation, Black Shadow instead took over everything and received overwhelming attention from the public. Then, when the hostess female abduction case, the Chairman said he would investigate the case himself. At that moment I thought, why don't you just leave it to us? Is it because the case is viral that you want to appear in public?"

Seto's guess is well-founded. Yes, it is undeniable that detectives are more interested in solving problems that continue to be highlighted by the media and the public in order to get praise and appreciation. However, he does not know the reason Shohei took over the case to restore the image of the police, after the public entrusted each case to be investigated by Black Shadow.

"After the Chairman said he would take over the case, I was immediately approached by someone who asked me to prevent the Chairman."

Seto opens up his old memories when he is called by Eita Kaze, Kazuya Toda's confidant who is now in prison.

"You're the secretary of the first division's chief investigator, right?"

"Yes, sir."

"I heard, Yamazaki-san will take over the hostess' abduction case. I don't think he can do it. The case, which had something to do with one of the ministers, would be a great shame to the government of this regime if the public knew about it. While the police have no reason to stop the case that is heating up in the public. Asking Yamazaki-san to end it would only be a waste. The man was too professional without compromising. You're the closest person to him, find a way to get that guy to stop the investigation!"

"I'm an ordinary detective, if your classmate might not listen, what about me?"

"Of course you can do it. Make him rest for a while until the case sinks!"

Previously, Seto had rejected a sneaky proposal put forward by Eita Kaze. However, after further thought, he felt that this was a good opportunity. He has been briefed on the mastermind behind the video case, but has yet to find a motive. He could use the case to catapult his name. Therefore, his dark wits forced him to do that to Shohei. Not to comply with Eita Kaze's wishes, but rather to take over the case and steal the investigation that Shohei has done.

"I stabbed in the part of the body that didn't inflict severe injuries, because my goal wasn't to kill you, Chief. But, I didn't expect the Chairman to fight back, so it made me do a reflex move by stabbing the Chairman many times. And realizing the Chairman was calling someone, I also directly destroyed your phone. I had time to regret and feel guilty when you were declared in a coma" Seto said in a soft-sounding voice, "over the course of several nights I worked hard to solve the case through a clue that the Chairman wrote in blood ink. But, again the damn Black Shadow first appeared and dismantled everything. Why should there be heroes of justice in this country? Aren't the police, prosecutors and courts enough?" he continued with eyes filled with hatred.

"So .. You did all that just for the sake of an achievement and an award ? What a frustrated person!" scorn Ai while enduring the pain.

"Are we not all in droves to score achievements? At first glance, we are a team, but we are all competing to be the most prominent. How many police have broken the rules of the investigation, scrambled for information, and made false evidence to quickly solve cases? For those of you who have a distinguished and influential parent background, it is very easy to rise to office. But what about the regular police? We need hard work to move up the ranks and positions. We had to solve a big case for our name to be lifted and ogled by the boss!" pekik Seto is no less fierce.

Shohei slightly confirmed what Seto said. It is undeniable, the practice of nepotism is still going on in the bureaucracy and the police. Those who have relations with influential officials, it is very easy to be promoted to office even though they do not score any achievements.

Still shocked by Seto's confession, Shohei said, "So you hate Black Shadow? It's what makes you team up with Kazuya Toda, disguise yourself as a mock Black Shadow and kill the justice minister and trap the real Black Shadow!"

"I didn't kill the justice minister!" tampik Seto with a rumbling voice.

"Akh!" Ai screamed suddenly.

Suddenly, Shohei's gaze diverted to Ai who was increasingly pale and helpless, Shohei approached him and took action to stop the bleeding. "Otaka-san, hang on! The ambulance is on its way here!"

Not long after, a siren was heard. From the height of the building, they could see ambulances and Metropolitan police cars stopping down there. That made Seto aghast.

"You set me up!" seto shouted with anger.

"Tanaka-san, turn yourself in! You're responsible for this shooting and the death of Matsumoto. Be a witness to Kazuya Toda's crimes and the conspiracy you've committed against Black Shadow!" pinta Shohei.

"I told you I didn't kill the justice minister!" seto said, "do you think a cop turned inmate is a joke?!"

"Isn't that your choice? Now answer your choice!" shohei. Although his little heart did not want this either. No, he still rejected the fact that someone close to him could have done all this.

Seto looked down there. The police have moved into the building. He certainly knows them all. Caught by a professional friend, isn't this embarrassing?

Seto stepped back to the building barrier. His feet climbed the twenty-five-centimeter-high rooftop barrier.

While staring at Shohei and Ai, Seto said, "Chairman, thank you for guiding me all this time. Thank you for taking me to lunch together. Even though these few months you have rarely invited me to eat and drink together. Sorry, I let you down."

"What are you saying, Tanaka-san!" Shohei then stood up while stepping cautiously towards Seto.

"Oi, don't do anything silly, Baka!" yelled Ai in the midst of her helplessness.

"Tanaka! Tanaaakaaa!" shohei shouted out in a gallop to reach for Seto's hand. Unfortunately, he did not get the man's hand. Seto's body first floated like cotton and landed quickly down there.

The policemen who had just entered the plaza building, then simultaneously turned their heads back when the sound of a loud punch was heard. They were surprised to see someone just fall with their body stretched out to face the sky. Fresh blood flowed straight through the river.

The policemen flocked out to see the figure that had just fallen. They were aghast as soon as they found out it was their partner—Tanaka Seto. Because of his high self-esteem, he would rather end his life than be in prison.

One of the policemen squatted down, then checked his pulse. The policeman closed his eyes for a moment while holding back a cry. Staring at the watch he said bitterly, "Four hours and fifteen minutes, Tanaka Seto is dead."

Coinciding with that, the emergency medical team took Ai out of the building preparing to get into the ambulance.

"Seto-kun! Seto-kun!" call Ai softly in the remnants of her consciousness that began to thin due to the bleeding she experienced. All their memories while still in the police dormitory flashed back in his mind. Both were the best police students in their class. It's just, Ai is more under the spotlight because of the son of an official in the national police.

"Six or seven years from now I will be in the Metropolitan Police being a talented detective like him" Seto said, staring at Shohei, who was conducting a special seminar at their school.

"Me too!" added Ai.

"Don't follow! I'll lose a lot if I compete with the children of police officials" Seto said.

Five years later, he was actually assigned to the Metropolitan Police and one year later he joined the elite division headed by Shohei.

"Ai-kun, I was transferred to the Metropolitan. I'm going to meet Yamazaki-senpai!" seto exclaimed excitedly as he contacted Ai.

"Congratulations! You're the best!" Ai was happy.

"I hope you don't move in here!"

"Calm down! Be calm! I'm not as good as you are" Ai said, looking at the Metropolitan's transfer letter addressed to her. For the sake of their friendship, Ai, who was supposed to have also entered the Metropolitan, asked her father to transfer her to Ikebukuro police.

Shohei knelt at the end of the rooftop barrier with his hands still outstretched. His eyes were empty and looked teary. Seina came over to the bespectacled man. Upon hearing the gunshots, Shohei did ask the girl to settle down on the previous floor.

"Shohei-kun, what happened?" seina asked as she looked at Shohei's bloodied hand that belonged to Ai.

Shohei. Her tears fell in the wind. Again and again, he failed to save those closest to him. Again and again, he loses a key witness to Kazuya Toda's crimes. It was as if the Gods had always won the cunning man over.

Still at the restaurant before, Kazuya sat back and enjoyed his last sip of coffee. He was a little jolted when his phone suddenly rang.

"What's going on?" tanyanya after receiving a call from one of his men.

The man's face darkened instantly. Apparently, his men had reported the death of Seto Tanaka. However, a second later he even reviewed a thin smile.

"Yokatta's. He chose the right decision, when his disguise as Black Shadow was known to them. So we don't have to think of a way to eliminate it."

"We have also managed to catch hackers who broke into the safe room security system." Kazuya Toda's men report back.

Kazuya Toda's smile expands perfectly "Good! Force him to confess. The man must have known something about Black Shadow," said the man with sinister eyes.
