Time seems to be going very slowly. Every second that passed seemed to drain all the remaining energy. Andrew had been watching Keiko who was still standing on the edge of the cliff for almost two hours. The girl simply kept silent and stared at the ripples of the waves with a blank look. He refused to speak and flirted even though Andrew had persuaded him several times.
The man understood that if he lost someone important, let alone being the only old man left, it would certainly deal a pretty hard blow. Especially maybe because they did not have time to say goodbye properly.
Andrew sighed softly and tightened the check on a piece of velvet blanket in his hand. After gathering courage, he walked out and placed a blanket over Keiko's shoulders, tidying it up so that the girl's entire body was well covered.
“After night, the wind is getting louder. Come on in,” said Andrew Iirih, trying to persuade the girl once more. It was almost midnight and Keiko had not filled her stomach yet, plus the cold coastal wind, Andrew was really worried that the girl would fall ill.
Keiko gasped, looking at the blanket covering her body, then turned to Andrew. He stared at the man beside him for quite a while before finally asking, “Why are you so good to me?”
He thought about it a thousand times. Why Andrew Roux was being so kind to him. The man saved her many times, even risking his career to save her who was a nobody. As he remembered, they had never even met before. Then why is this man so persistent in looking after her?
If the man is malicious, there are too many gaps for him to attack and take advantage of opportunities when he is fragile. But in fact, the man always entertained and took very good care of him. Although sometimes Andrew annoyed and teased him, but it was still within reasonable limits. Keiko was really curious, what was the reason Andrew Roux took care of her so carefully.
Andrew who was silent for a while finally turned his gaze to the star-studded night sky before replying, “I owe you a debt in his previous life. Let's just say I'm redeeming my debts to you first.”
“Huh?” Keiko frowned and looked at Andrew with a puzzled expression. “What do you mean?”
Andrew smiled and returned Keiko's gaze as he said, “You just need to know that I will never hurt you. They will take good care of you forever. Comein. It's night. Sea breeze is not good for health.”
“No. Explain first, what did you mean earlier,” reply Keiko a little stubborn. If it was Hiro desperately to defend and protect her, then he would believe it. However, this man before him .. on what basis should he trust him?
With a gentle smile, Andrew reached out and tidied up Keiko's wind-blown hair and slipped it into the ear.
“Although I explained it, you won't believe it,” muttered the man quietly, then turned around and stepped inside the house.
Keiko was stunned to hear the voice of the man in front of her who seemed to be storing something. He was still fixated for a few seconds when he saw Andrew's back away. From behind, the man looked as if he was lonely, making Keiko's heart feel a little uncomfortable. He clenched his hands and walked in.
The delicious aroma of cooking was smelled from the front door. Keiko looked at the figure of Andrew walking towards the kitchen and subconsciously followed him there. Two kinds of vegetables and a bowl of meat soup neatly arranged on the table. The smoke billowing over the containers clearly tells them the food is still hot.
Keiko fell silent at the side of the table and stared at the food with a frowning forehead. There was no one else inside the house other than the two of them, that meant ... Andrew cooked all that food.
“Sit and eat,” Andrew said while preparing dinnerware on the table, “I've—“
“Why is it so good to me? What do you want from me?” sela Keiko stared fixedly at Andrew. He took off the blanket on his shoulder and placed it on the chair.
Andrew's hand which was taking the soup and filling it into the bowl came to a halt in the air. He looked up stiffly, pensive for a while before finally sighing softly.
“Eat first,” replied Andrew while putting a bowl of soup in front of Keiko, “We talk after you finish eating.”
Keiko had to comply. Apart from not wanting to argue, his stomach was hungry as well. Moreover, the smell of food that was in front of him was truly very delicious. The girl sat down and scooped up the rice, then picked up the side dish and ate quietly. He blew out the soup and tasted it. Although not as delicious as the cuisine in a five-star restaurant, for a man the size of Andrew Roux cuisine is quite satisfying.
Unknowingly Keiko looked up and found Andrew watching her. It made him suddenly feel nervous. Especially since his thoughts regarding Andrew as a good husband came back to his head.
“Is the soup too hot?” andrew asked when she saw Keiko's cheeks meet red.
“Em .. no,” reply Keiko quickly. He nodded and returned to eating with concentration. He did not want his mind to wander everywhere and make his face more red again.
“Lumayan. Thank you,” replied Keiko.
Andrew smiled smugly and muttered softly, “If you like, I will cook for you every day.”
Keiko looked up and noticed Andrew at a glance before replying, “No need. Tomorrow I will prepare my own food. You don't have to bother.”
“No fuss at all,” replied Andrew quickly. He looked back at the girl in front of him, propped up his chin with one hand, and thought how happy it would be if the beautiful image before him could be seen for life.
That answer made Keiko frown. Didn't the man before her have a job to complete? Cooking was quite time consuming, did he really want to do it?
However, not wanting to argue, Keiko remained silent and finished her meal. He got up to clean the dishes and bowls, then put them in the dishwasher. As soon as he turned around, he found Andrew staring at his phone with an unreadable expression.
“What's up?” keiko asked when she saw Andrew's face getting serious.
“Um ... it ...”
Andrew was a little surprised, quickly turning off his phone and observing Keiko hesitantly.
“What's the news about my father? Or Hiro?” scowl Keiko again.
“Ya,” replied Andrew after weighing for a moment, “Your father has just been cremated. If you want, I can arrange for the ashes to be sent here immediately ...”
“Oh.”
There was a long pause in the room. The two people inside the room were pensive and dissolved in their minds. Under the light of the lamp, Keiko's eyes again warmed up and flushed. While Andrew clenched his hands tightly, trying to dispel the various emotions that hit his heart when he saw Keiko glazed like that.
“Why so good to me?” keiko whispered softly, holding back the vibrations in her voice from being heard clearly.
“Do you believe in reincarnation?” Andrew asked back without taking his eyes off Keiko's face. “I told you already, I owe you in a previous life.”
“Utang? What debt?”
This time it was Keiko who frowned slightly. He could not guess where Andrew was going. Reincarnation? Isn't that just a fairy tale? Myths. Nonsense that can't be trusted its validity.
Seeing Keiko's response that returned her gaze suspiciously made Andrew subconsciously step forward. He stopped when he was only about two steps away from the girl.
“If I told you that we were husband and wife in a previous life. Do you believe it?”
