Chapter 48 - The Past of Judah

The night wind was piercing the bones. Sirens from police cars can be heard from all over, the yellow police line securing the scene of the case.

All the personnel from the police are busy to and fro looking for evidence. Among all those present, Eris was standing talking to one of his subordinates.

"We'll secure and search the evidence soon."

"Do it right."

"Good."

As a subordinate, he saluted the vice-chairman in their team.

This was the case 9 years ago when Eris was still a vice-chairman in the Aegis team. The Aegis team is a special team formed by the Central Elish Police in dealing with unusual cases such as human trafficking, conflicts between rulers of the underworld, illegal human organ sales, illegal firearm sales, etc, et cetera. These cases cannot be handled by ordinary police teams because they require a lot of connections and abilities that exceed others.

Although still young, Eris showed an extraordinary performance, making him able to become vice-chairman of the team at the age of 25 years. But as great as he is, Eris can not beat the prowess of the Aegis team leader, Reindra.

The young man of his age can become the chairman at the age of 23. It was a truly terrible achievement. At that age Reindra should have just graduated from the Academy but he was already able to occupy the highest position. What's more seeing her background coming from the common folk, Eris became envious. He felt Reindra was not worthy of the highest office.

On the other hand, a very young Judah vomited after seeing a shapeless body. For her who was only 6 years old, this was the first time she had seen such a terrifying sight. All the food in his stomach seemed to want to come out, he could not resist the nausea and disgust to see the body.

"Vice-chairman, is your sister okay?" One of Eris's subordinates who saw Yuda puking since earlier felt pity. He felt that Judah was too small to see things like this.

But different from him who was worried, Eris did not feel that way at all.

"Just leave him. He himself wanted to practice getting used to handling cases like this."

Yuda rubbed his mouth with his sleeves, he looked at Eris with a face that was hard to read but at that moment, the young Yuda only trusted her brother's judgment.

Judah did not know that he was in Eris's grasp at the time and he did not know that his choice would be disastrous.

The snow fell slowly, making the atmosphere even colder. That day, a great tragedy known as Frozen December occurred.

Of the 25 personnel deployed, only one survived. The tragedy left an incurable wound and was recorded as the worst incident in the history of the Elish police force since its formation.

Yuda opens both of his eyes. He tries not to remember what happened a long time ago. From that day on, he always had nightmares when he fell asleep.

"Son Yuda you're coming again. Long time no see."

"Right, glad to be joining again."

Joining Eris is not fun. He was just a tool for Eris to satisfy all her desires and ambitions. The cruel woman did not care who she had to get rid of in order to become number one.

The horrible woman he called his sister.

"Son Yuda, this is his coffee first."

Yuda receives a coffee from a member of the Aegis team. The middle-aged member, Piren, is currently working under Eris and knows Yuda well. Since Eris rose to the post 8 years ago since the horrific tragedy, Piren has joined the new Aegis team. He has a lot of respect for Eris who is so great in solving every case he handles. Piren also considered Judah to be his own son.

"Thank you, Mr. Piren."

Yuda sipped a warm coffee, in silence he was accompanied by smoke from the warm coffee that began to billow into the air. Making his cold body and heart start to warm up.

"Son Judah need not force himself."

Piren is amazed by the dedication of Yuda who wants to learn to become a great detective but he also feels sorry because Yuda is still very young. It shouldn't be that a child as young as him would be participating in this kind of heavy investigation, if it wasn't for him being Eris's younger brother it was certain that he wouldn't have gotten permission to observe.

Piren really did not know how an elite family like Harvenhelt worked, how could they let ank as young as Yuda do something like this.

Since there were only the two of them in this room, Titus did not have to bother formal speaking with Hajun. Another story if someone else is with them.

"Yes, I heard it."

"Do you think Castris is making a move?"

"Let's see it later."

Hajun threw a small arrow towards the darts board and hit it right in the middle. In his spare time, Hajun usually spends time playing darts as well as in the shooting room.

Titus felt today Hajun was different than usual. In both of his eyes, there were panda eyes. Looks like Hajun has insomnia, which you rarely feel.

"Did you sleep poorly last night?"

"Yes, that's it."

"What if you just take a break today?"

Hajun did not reply to Titus' advice not because he did not listen, but because he could not do so. He had tried to sleep but still could not forget it.

Titus sighed looking at Hajun who ignored the advice from him. Despite recognizing Hajun's character, Titus found it difficult to speak to him.

"What exactly makes you like this? Are you thinking about women?"

Titus chuckled a little because of his own words. For more than 10 years together with Hajun, he never had any contact with a woman. But Titus wanted to tease Hajun a little.

"Yes." Yeah."

"!!!"

Titus immediately stopped chuckling when he heard Hajun's reply. He didn't hear wrong, did he?

Hajun said he was thinking of a woman?! A Hajun?!

It seems like the world will soon be destroyed. Hajun is impossible... A Hajun?! Thinking of a woman?! The lady?!

Titus could not speak anymore. All the things that had wanted to come out of his mouth were suddenly silenced. He did not know what to say after hearing Hajun's words.

After his little arrow had run out, Hajun sat down on the long sofa that was in the room. He sat down leisurely as he stretched his body which felt a little stiff.

"Give me some sleeping pills."

Hajun asked with his voice a little hoarse because all night he was awake. He had no other choice but to rely on sleeping pills to treat his already extremely tired body. It was hard for him to rest a few days ago. There were a lot of problems he had to deal with including the Obelian's Circle affair.

The Chairman will not let him underestimate his duties here, after all he has been entrusted to take control of the Obelian's Circle in Elisien. If only she had known what Hajun was doing here, Irina would definitely not have let it go.

What Hajun is doing right now has violated the deal he did with Obelian's Circle. But he was not afraid of it, for Hajun Obelian's Circle or whatever it was not very important. Right now he is in a position where he has to protect the lives of many people.

"I'll get it right away."

Titus went out to get Hajun sleeping pills. After Titus left, Hajun was seen closing his eyes with his arms and raising his head to the ceiling of the room.

His head was heavy, but he could not sleep. If he falls asleep, the shadow of the woman will always come and haunt him.

It's really sad, unlike her usual one.
