19. Meet Emma

Lane leaves with mixed feelings, still thinking about Olivia but not wanting to be lied to a second time. Lane drives daydreaming and not seeing Emma standing in the middle of the road, Lane awakens when she almost bumps into Emma.

"What are you doing? Don't you have eyes?!" A man came and grabbed Emma who was almost hit.

"I'm sorry I'm not focusing on driving." Lane got out of the car, she was relieved that the woman was not hurt at all.

"How will you compensate for the psychological shadow that Emma has received?" The man clasped Emma's hand and looked at Lane with a look of dislike. Lane frowned when he heard the man asking for compensation, he thought they had deliberately told a woman in the middle of the street to ask for compensation.

"Ak-I'm fine William, don't ask for compensation." Emma said in a soft voice so Lane subconsciously turned to Emma.

Emma was wearing a clean white dress that contrasted with the state of the apocalypse, her face was soft and her eyes looked pure as if the apocalypse had not affected her at all.

"Ta-but he almost killed you." The man named William also withered at how gentle Emma was.

"No need, it's also my fault for standing in the middle of the road." Emma shook her head weakly.

"Will what happened?" Some men came to William.

"Emma almost got hit by this guy." William pointed at Lane bravely without caring for Lane who was wearing an army uniform.

"I'm sorry." Lane is ready to fight if they don't want to make peace.

"Will let go, he apologized anyway."

"Allen.." William still can't take Allan off Lane just like that.

"Why don't you guys join the shelter base?" Lane asked the initiative.

"We don't have enough supplies to pay for the entrance fee into the shelter base." Allan answered.

"So, as compensation you are allowed to enter the shelter base without paying." Lane.

"Allan look at him trying to fool us." William doesn't believe what Lane promised.

"really? Are you the shelter base manager?" Allan also doubted Lane's words a little.

"If you don't believe you can follow me to pick up the Mayor, then we'll go together to the shelter base."

Emma feels Lane staring at her, thinking it's time to get away from William and get closer to Lane who seems better able to protect her.

"But it will soon be dark, zombies are very active at night." Hearing Allan's words makes Lane decide to stay tonight at Allan's hideout.

"If you may know what your name is?" Ask Allan.

"My name is Lane Potter, just call me Lane."

"Meet me Allan, this is Dale, Tommy, Trevor, William and Emma." Allan introduces all her friends to Lane. William snorted furiously when introduced by Allan.

"By the way, what's your position in the army?" Allan thought that Lane was definitely not an ordinary soldier so he could free the entrance fee into the shelter base.

"I am currently in the captain's position." Lane replies honestly, unaware of Emma's glowing eyes when she hears Lane's position in the army.

"You're so young, must be so good at fighting." Allan did not expect Lane to be a captain.

"Obviously, he looks amazing if he's a General." William said in a cynical tone. Lane did not take too much heart to say William, he still sat with his indifferent attitude.

"Allan why don't we drink the wine we just got at the supermarket?" Dale Allan's friend brought up the wine problem.

"Lane do you want to come have a drink with us?" Allan took out three bottles of wine that they managed to get.

"Allan is the result of our hard work, why are you sharing it with strangers?" William doesn't accept that Lane drinks their hard-earned.

"Will!!" Allan yelled at William.

"I don't drink, I'll be on my guard if anything happens." Lane went straight away and stood on the balcony. The moonlight revealed an indifferent expression on his face, no one knew how Lane was feeling at the moment.

"Captain Lane I'm sorry, because I you're hated by William." Emma stood behind Lane, she was still wearing her white dress as if it was a dress she had indeed made for herself.

Lane turns and stares at Emma expressionlessly, but Lane secretly admires Emma's kind nature.

"You don't have to apologize for me." Emma was terrified when she heard William's voice behind her.

"Will." Emma looked at William who was in the dark, she did not know whether William was angry or not.

"You come with me, don't go near him." William pulls Emma's hand. William did not realize Emma was smiling cunningly behind him.

"Where are you guys?" Allan looked at William who looked angry while holding Emma's hand. William did not reply, he simply asked Emma to sit next to him.

Allan shook his head and handed William a bottle of wine. Out of anger, William finished a bottle of wine alone and now he was drunk completely.

"Will are you drunk?" Emma asked even though she knew.

"Take me to the room, I want to fall asleep immediately." William said, half conscious. Emma rejoiced when she saw the opportunity to get rid of William.

"Let me just." Allan said when he saw Emma helping William.

"Allan you're drunk too so let me drive William to his room." Allan gave up because he himself felt dizzy and chose to fall asleep on the sofa with the others. Emma carried William's body with great difficulty into the room.

"Will, are you still conscious?" William muttered and indicated he was still not asleep. Emma poured the water and gave the powder that came from her pocket, then mixed it into the water.

"Will drink a glass of water first." William tried to get up and drink the water until it ran out.

"Will are you still angry?" Emma asked.

"Of course, how could I not be angry when I see you staring at that man?" William said honestly.

"Do you like it?" William pulls Emma's body and forces Emma to be underneath it.

"I-i"

"Quick say!" A sense of heat radiating throughout William's body made him unknowingly lose control.

"Will let me go!" Emma tried to push William.

"Will.." Emma was crying, she looked into William's reddened eyes.

"Emma.." William's heartbeat increased when he saw Emma lying weakly underneath, Emma's red lips as if she was teasing him.

"Will let me go!!" Emma rebelled once again.

"Emma don't turn me down okay? I'll take care of you with my life." William felt unable to bear to not touch Emma, he then forcefully tore off Emma's white dress.

"Please!! Help me!!" Emma screamed for help until the door was broken from the outside.

"What are you doing?!!" Lane pulls William's body and throws it against the wall. Allan and the others were shocked to hear the commotion and immediately ran towards William's room.

"What's going on?" Allan saw the condition of William who had fainted and Emma who was crying in bed.

"Ask your friend." Answer Lane.

"Emma did she do something to you?" Allan's expression looked bitter looking at some ambiguous marks seen on Emma's neck.

"I'm dirty! He touched me! I'm so dirty!!" Emma was crying with her body unceasingly trembling.

"You're all out!" Lane threw them out. Allan did not dare to stay for long, he then dragged the unconscious body of William.

"Emmm.. Emma you're not dirty at all." Lane's voice sounded soft. Emma reminded herself when she was knocked out and made into a punching bag, she looked innocent and naive.

"Ta-but I've been touched by that son of a bitch." Lane hugged Emma's body.

"You're not dirty, but William is dirty." Lane coaxed and stroked Emma's hair. He was unaware of Emma's triumphant smile. Emma had actually not been touched at all by William, and the red marks all over her body were made by herself.

The next day, Allan and the others found black eye bags because they could not fall asleep at all, while the perpetrator actually fell asleep with a loud snoring sound.

"Allan how are we going to solve this problem? We'll miss the opportunity to enter the shelter base, even we might be blocked."

"Are we leaving this stupid boy?" Dale kicked William's leg.

"I shouldn't have fallen asleep last night so last night's incident didn't happen." Allan said with a sorry face.

"Bos you don't have to blame yourself, I'll beat William up if he's conscious later." Tommy Say.

William woke up with pain all over his body.

"Allan? Why are you looking at me like that?" William asked in confusion.

"Why did you touch Emma last night? Since when did you learn to be a baj*ngan?" Tommy scolded William.

"What do you mean?" William has no memory of last night.

"Will do you really not remember?" Ask Allan patiently. Allan was the only man with mature thinking between them, so most of the decisions were in his hands.

"Ak-me." William recalls a dream last night in which he tried to forcefully touch Emma but then he no longer remembers the next dream. William turned pale.

"Where's Emma?" William tried to get up.

"You still dare to ask about him?!" Tommy glares at William.

"You better not have to see her again." Allan.

"A- did I really touch it?" William grew pale, he himself did not expect to do anything immoral to Emma. Tommy and Dale glared at William and did not reply to William's question.

"Where are you going?" Allan looked at William who was painstakingly standing up.

"I'm going to apologize to Emma."

"Will, Emma wouldn't want to see you, she was so scared last night. If Lane hadn't come last night to save Emma, I'm afraid Emma would have been taken away by Lane."

"You're letting Lane be with Emma?!" William's emotions were ignited when he heard Lane's name. Tommy directly hit William in the face with his hand.

"Conscious! You should stay away from Emma!!" Tommy yelled at William loudly.

"I'll take responsibility for what I did last night."

"Will, Emma was so scared last night. He won't want you to show up in front of him." Allan once again explained to William.

"No! I'm going to see Emma." William immediately ran to find Emma, he found Emma who was walking beside Lane.

"Emma I'm sorry about last night." Emma immediately hid behind Lane's strapping body, pretending to be terrified.

"Emma?" William did not expect Emma to ignore him.

"Stay away from Emma!!" Lane's cold voice rang out, he looked at William sharply.

"I'm talking to Emma, not you!" William is not at all afraid of Lane, he walks and wants to catch Emma's hand.

"Will what are you doing?!" Dale immediately pulled William back.

"Take me off!!" William tries to escape, but he is unable because Tommy is holding him back.

"Will calm yourself." Allan

"No! Emma can't be with that stranger! I love her!" William is still rebelling.

"Will if you still can't calm down then I'm forced to shut your mouth for a while." Allan took an injection containing anesthetic fluid, he accidentally got it in the pharmacy. He thought this would be useful but he did not expect to have to use this dope on his own friend.

"Allan if you drugged me, I would never forgive you!" William threatened.

"Sorry Will but I have to." Allan then injected the liquid into William's arm. Not long William's view was getting blurry but he actually accidentally saw Emma's smile that was seen mocking him.

"Captain Lane I'm sorry for this, I didn't think William would hate you so much." Allan apologized sincerely.

"It's okay, Emma and I are leaving soon. Thank you for taking care of Emma all this time." Lane then goes with Emma.

"Boss, didn't you ask Lane to put us in a shelter base?" Dale asked. Allan just shook his head, he himself did not really expect Lane to forgive William immediately, nor could they leave William who was their comrade-in-arms.
