The next day Jeff and Nielsen get information about Abby's family according to what Joseph promised.
"If anyone's looking for his family members in the base, I'll accept the job." Joseph said with a smile.
"Yes." Yeah." Nielsen and Jeff could only reply with fake smiles, they secretly cursed Joseph many times for being greedy.
They then went to see Jean and handed her the information.
"Good job." Praise Jean, she then reads the information Joseph knows.
Abby, Raul and his kids did enter base 2 weeks ago, they didn't rent a house on base because none of them had the ability, but they were also lucky because they had a family member who was a doctor in the base, the doctor named Roswell Thompson.
"Do you know Roswell Thompson?" Jean chose to ask her prisoners who had stayed longer than others.
"Yes, Roswell was indeed one of the doctors who worked on the base as a surgeon specialist." Answer Nielsen.
Jean and her two prisoners then go to the clinic she seems to have set up in a hurry. There were many injured patients but only a few doctors and nurses were in a hurry to serve the patients.
"Can't you speed up your work?!!" A man with an injured arm asked impatiently, the nurses could only apologize for not upsetting the man.
"It's a mess." Jean commented when she saw the long queue. Some people even fight to get a queue position.
"Nurse!" Jean tries to call the nurse out of the room, but the nurse doesn't budge and just walks in a hurry as if she doesn't hear Jean's call.
"Boss, I have an acquaintance here, maybe he can help us, but it will cost you." Jeff Says.
"really? But it can be tried. Take me to that guy's place." Jean herself couldn't stand having to stand in line, she was going to try a shortcut.
Jean is then taken to one of the quiet corners, there are only a few people passing through the place.
Jeff came to one of the men who was smoking quietly in the corner.
"Arthur, we'd like to see Dr. Roswell." Jeff said, the man named Arthur turned to look at Jeff.
"Who is that?" Jean asked Nielsen. Jean felt the man was unusual and vaguely felt Arthur's level 5 ability.
"He is the strongest person in the base, many people are afraid of him but his behavior is very bad, he is reluctant to help the leader of the base and just sits in the clinic to serve a special person who can afford it." Nielsen Brief.
Jean feels Arthur is not at all creepy, even he feels himself and Arthur have a lot in common, namely the desire to be a salted fish on the day of the apocalypse.
Arthur reached out his hand and gestured to put the bribe in his palm.
Jean takes 50 crystal nuclei, and doesn't know if this is enough to bribe Arthur.
Arthur did not look into the cloth bag that Jean had given him, he himself had guessed how much of the crystal core Jean had given him just by measuring the weight of the bag.
"Follow me." Arthur got up from his seat lazily and stretched his waist until the sound of bones was heard clearly.
Some people were terrified to see Arthur rise from his seat and those in line took the initiative to pave the way for Arthur and Jean's group.
"Exit Roswell's doctor's office within 3 minutes." Arthur orders the officer in the administration.
"Y-yeah, we'll empty it." The attendant replied nervously and tremblingly, he did not dare to ignore Arthur's orders.
The last time an officer died on the spot for ignoring Arthur's orders, Arthur's fame spread to the base, the leader of the base could only bow when he saw Arthur.
The nurses quickly removed the patient who was inside Roswell's doctor's office.
The man looked irritated when forcibly removed by the nurses but then he was frightened when he saw Arthur leaning back and smoking beside the exit.
"Please, I'll wait outside." Arthur said when the patient was out.
Jean goes inside and lets the two prisoners wait awkwardly outside with Arthur.
"Doctor Roswell??" Jean asked as she saw a man wearing a white coat sitting in his chair.
"Yes, who's hurt?" Roswell asked politely according to his ethics as a doctor.
"Nobody's sick, I'm just casually asking about something." Jean sat in the chair opposite Roswell.
"What's wrong?" Roswell looked at Jean warily, Recently she has been doing something secretly.
"Have you ever met Abby and Raul with their children?"
Roswell stiffened, does Jean know anything? His back was sweating coldly.
"N-no, I don't know." Roswell refused to answer Jean's question.
Jean frowned, she felt strange about Roswell's behavior that clearly knew Abby's whereabouts.
Jean throws a form document containing Abby's information at Roswell's desk,
"Still arguing?" Jean stared at Roswell sharply, feeling that Roswell was hiding something about Abby.
"What do you want?!" Roswell looked at Jean in surprise when he saw the information on the paper.
"I want to see Abby."
"Who are you?! Are you the base manager?" Roswell looked at Jean suspiciously. It's hard to get this kind of information if Jean doesn't connect with the base manager.
"No, I'm not a base manager at all, I'm Abby's friend from town J."
Roswell breathed in relief, she was afraid that the base manager would punish her.
"So where's Abby and her family?" Jean guesses that Roswell is involved with something the base is not allowed to do.
Jean then walked out of Roswell's room. Jeff and Nielsen looked at Jean as if they were meeting with a savior, they both felt awkward about Arthur smoking quietly beside them.
"Thank you for helping." Jean said to Arthur.
"I'm not helping for free." Arthur then leaves Jean's group.
"That guy's scary, I can't even stand being with that guy for how many minutes." Nielsen comments after seeing Arthur go back to sit in the corner.
In the evening, Jean goes with Liam to a deserted clinic.
"Follow me." Roswell said as he looked at Jean who was waiting in front of the clinic.
Roswell took Jean in one of the block A rental homes, which were the most luxurious of the rest.
In addition to the ability user, one of the jobs that is highly valued and prioritized by the base is a doctor, without a doctor a base would have difficulty dealing with the injured ability user, therefore Roswell was able to rent a house in block A with the salary he had as a doctor.
The house in block A has two floors with a minimalist style so that it looks more elegant, almost all homes even have sports cars on display in the yard.
Jean only glimpsed and did not appreciate the beauty of block A, according to him it is no longer valuable than a fresh vegetable.
Roswell stopped at one of the homes at the very end of block A and was the loneliest part among the others.
"Abby! There's a guest for you." Roswell called Abby when they came into the house.
The sound of feet came from the second floor and was heard coming in a hurry.
"Liam??" Abby recognizes Liam sitting next to Jean.
"Auntie, how are you?" Liam said hello to Abby.
"Not too well," Abby's face looked grim, she then continued, "what about Miss Jean, is she okay? I was actually planning to meet you guys, it's just that the distance of J city is too far for us."
"Abby, it's me." Jean takes off her disguise in front of Abby.
Roswell and Abby were surprised, but Roswell was a bit confused as to why Jean could change her voice like a man.
"Jean? I'm sorry I didn't recognize you right away." Abby hugged Jean tightly, not expecting that she would finally meet Jean again
"It's okay, then where are Raul and your children?" Jean asks when she does not see Raul and his son Abby coming to greet him.
"It's actually kind of hard to explain, can you keep a secret?" Abby seems hesitant to tell Jean about her family.
"I can keep a secret, I have no relationship with the base administrator." Jean promised.
"Then how can you get information about Abby if you're not the base manager?" Roswell felt awkward.
Jean goes straight to explain how she was almost robbed and manages to interrogate her prisoners, then uses Jeff and Niel to search for Abby.
"I heard that there are many things like that that that happen to the newcomers in the base, it is very difficult to live in a base that does not actually provide much security. They could prevent the security of the zombies, but they couldn't take care of the internal problems in the base." Roswell issued his complaint.
"Why don't you guys move to another base? Base J city is better than this base because it is held by the military." Jean immediately advised them to move.
Abby and Roswell stared at each other, but then they looked disappointed again. Jean doesn't understand what happened to Abby.
"If it was a few days ago maybe we could move, but if it is now.." Abby breathed out her frustration.
"What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Roswell and Abby take Jean and Liam away to the back garden, Jean has no idea why they brought her in.
"We're going underground." Roswell.
Roswell gave Jean and Liam the medical mask before opening the door. The four of them immediately put on a light blue mask.
Roswell then opened an iron door hidden with bushes, it looked so heavy that it required considerable force to open it.
Roswell and Abby went in first, followed by Liam and Jean at the very back. They descended an iron staircase that looked to have rusted so that the smell of rust spread throughout the basement.
"Abby?" Raul's voice sounded from within.
Jean notices the dark basement and is illuminated only by the dim light of the lamp.
Finn was lying on the bed pale, while Raul looked very tired.
"What happened to them?" Jean didn't expect Finn and Raul to be like this.
"I suspect that Finn was exposed to a zombie virus so he got a hot fever, I wanted to check Finn's blood to make sure but we didn't have any tools because it had been confiscated by the base administrator." Answer Roswell.
"How long has he been like this?" Ask Jean.
"3 days." Answer Abby.
'I don't think this is a zombie virus, the zombie virus will attack human immunity so quickly that it only takes one day to completely defeat human immunity.' Jean intends to have the system scan Finn's state.
'This is not it, Finn was just hit by typhus.' the system responded.
"You take it easy, it's just typhus." Said Jean.
"really?" Roswell frowned, she felt Jean couldn't possibly detect Finn's true illness, she herself couldn't even diagnose Finn carelessly without tools.
"If it's a zombie virus then Finn will turn into a zombie in a day, but Finn isn't, so I'm guessing he's got typhus or some other disease. Liam used to be exposed to zombie viruses, but thanks to the crystal core Liam builds his abilities." Jean explains everything so that Roswell can believe his words.
