40. resolve misunderstandings

After solving the base problem, Arthur takes Jean to a place that seems to be a corner of the base, the place is a little seedy but the atmosphere looks peaceful because none of the robbers are willing to blackmail this area.

Arthur chose this place as Anna's hideout because all the refugees who occupy this region are old people who have been old and easily ignored by refugees in other regions and base administrators.

"Anna are you inside?" Arthur takes Jean to one of the wooden houses that seems to be erected haphazardly.

"Arthur?" A woman came to open the door, she looked forward with an unfocused gaze, it seemed that something had happened that made the woman lose her sight but the woman smiled gently like an angel disguised as a human.

Jean is stunned by Anna's beauty, only this time at seeing a woman who is so beautiful but still looks simple, a woman will be devastated and envious of Anna's beauty.

"Are you ready to meet Rolland again?" The smile plastered on Anna's face faded as Arthur called Rolland.

"How many times have I said, I don't want to see her Arthur," Anna refused but her face contained a hidden trace of sadness.

"May I know why you don't want to see Rolland?" Jean asks Anna, she has fallen in love at first sight with Anna.

Arthur reprimands Jean but sees an eye of admiration that Jean does not hide, forcing Arthur to hit Jean on the head.

"Ouch!! Why did you hit my head?" Jean rubbed the part of her head that Arthur had beaten.

"Didn't you want to bring Anna and Arthur together? but now I see the greedy eyes that seem to want to snatch Anna from Rolland" Arthur is unaware of Jean's real gender disguised as John, so he thinks Jean is a pervert.

Jean complained in her heart, Did she misunderstand Anna? But Jean once again thinks that she doesn't mind if she's forced to be a lesbian to marry Anna.

The system that reads Jean's mind : "..."

It seems that Jean is getting more wrong after being beaten by Arthur.

"Goddess-ah I mean brother, why can you marry Rolland? Doesn't Rolland look a bit mediocre?" Jean asked once again, she felt like she had seen something as futile as a diamond surrounded by a pile of trash.

Anna smiles at Jean's long-held questions, which Jean asks very similar to those of children who used to live near her home. Anna's smile faded when she recalled the events that left her helpless and shunned Rolland by faking her death.

"This Anna is Mr. John, he's the one who brought Rolland here and got rid of the base leader," Arthur introduced Jean to Anna.

"So you guys got rid of that guy?" Anna lowered her head and a few drops of tears fell down her face.

"Yes, I've managed to avenge you. Anna I can't hide your presence, don't you want to see Rolland?"

Anna did not answer Arthur's question and instead said, "Mr John I thank Arthur for helping him to kill the man."

"Will you see Rolland? He constantly blames Arthur and says Arthur is a traitor" Jean tries to persuade Anna.

"Arthur is that true? Why didn't you ever tell me?" Anna is shocked when she hears Jean say, she doesn't know Rolland would blame Arthur.

"Anna, I just don't want you to blame yourself any more" Arthur admitted to everything, if he said Rolland hated him from the start then Anna was getting worse.

"I'm sorry Arthur, I've troubled you so much" Anna cried out of guilt, avoiding Rolland for thinking his body was filthy and inappropriate with Rolland.

Anna then recounted her grievances that she had been quieting all this time, telling her how devastated she was at the time for having been captured and forced into comfort women by Farche. Arthur comes to his rescue before being killed for food, but Anna refuses to meet with Rolland at the time.

"I should have tortured that bastard before killing him!" Jean also regretted what happened to Anna.

"Hearing the man die alone has satisfied me, so don't regret it" Anna said, wiping away her tears.

Jean wants to wipe away Anna's tears but Arthur's hand catches Jean's hand that almost touches Anna's face.

"So are you still determined not to see Rolland? I have no problem hiding you once more" asked Arthur once more.

"I'll see him anyway I can't keep running away" replied Anna, apparently trying to convince herself that she had to resolve the misunderstanding Arthur had suffered.

Anna was wearing the robe that Jean had given her because Jean thought Anna's beauty could cause some unnecessary trouble, so she needed to cover Anna's body with the robe.

The five of them then exited the shelter base just as the sun was rising.

"Sister!" Liam ran and hugged Jean tightly.

"I'm disappointed not to see you die" Olivia immediately complained.

"If I die who will feed you?" Ask Jean. The five High School boys and Raes swarm Jean with worried looks, they fear their food source is disappearing.

"Anna??" Rolland instantly recognized the woman standing beside Arthur. Rolland then walked over and wanted to hold Anna's hand, but Anna immediately let go of Rolland's hand as if she did not recognize him.

"Anna you need to explain everything," Arthur patted Anna on the shoulder softly.

"Anna what does that mean? What's your relationship with Arthur?" Seeing the closeness of Anna and Arthur made Rolland feel the flames of jealousy.

Anna lowered her head with her trembling body, she wanted to say everything she was facing but she was too scared.

"D-anna? Have you been having an affair with Arthur all this time?" A new misunderstanding arises that makes Jean forced to slap Rolland's face.

"Can't you see Anna is scared because of you?! Stop speculating the no-no!" The others were stunned when they saw Jean slap Rolland.

"Stop fighting, I'll tell you everything" Anna was also surprised to hear Jean's slap.

"So don't tell me if Rolland molests you, I'll slap him in the face once more if he dares to hurt you" Jean said as she glared at Rolland.

They all left the place and left room for Anna and Rolland. Jean could only look at the two worriedly from a distance.

The five high school students went to a corner forming a group and started gossiping.

"Didn't you see John's gaze just now?" Nara started the conversation.

"I saw it too, John seemed to admire Rolland's wife," Wenda agreed with Nara's remarks.

"Do you two want to say that John wants to take Rolland's wife?" Ask Anthony.

"Of course, doesn't that seem obvious? I also actually just saw a man who didn't hide his feelings" Nara replied.

"What about Olivia? Is he not jealous?" Edwin followed gossip activities.

"I think Olivia actually likes John, it's just that she's hiding it in shame and there's a chance she's a B, so she's angry when you question her feelings," New speculations emerged from Wenda's mouth.

"Can't you guys stop gossiping?" Davin felt his friends looked ridiculous.

"Why indeed? Are you starting to like Olivia? So you feel uncomfortable when we talk about her?" The four friends looked at Davin with suspicious looks.

Davin could only sigh, since he had not received a protest from Olivia while cutting the meat, his friends looked at him suspiciously because he was the only newcomer who was not scolded by Olivia.

Anna and Rolland embrace each other which signifies that they both have put an end to the misunderstanding that has been separating them all along.

"Arthur I'm sorry," Rolland said his apology in shame, he owed Arthur too much.

"Don't bother me next time" Arthur replied and then went to wave his hand at them, Jean saw Arthur's smile that he didn't show Rolland.

Jean and her entourage move on after their affairs are over, while Roswell chooses to stay on the grounds that she has the responsibility of being a doctor at the N shelter base.

Arthur sees their departure from afar, if only he had not been appointed the leader of the base, he might have followed Jean's group by maintaining his lifestyle as a salted fish in the midst of the apocalypse.
