39. Battles
Jean hastily searches for the whereabouts of Arthur who is asleep in front of the clinic, whether or not it depends, if Arthur does not agree and chooses to remain on the side of the N city base then he is forced to kill Arthur so that his plan is not leaked.
Arthur wakes up when he hears Jean's footsteps, he pulls out his military knife when he sees Jean in front of him.
"I want to discuss something with you."
Arthur immediately recognized the voice of Jean who was his customer yesterday, though he did not relax his vigilance.
"I want you to help me kill the leader and the administrator of this base."
"I refuse." Arthur seems to be unconcerned about Jean's plans.
"Why? I want to know why?" Jean knew it would be hard to convince Arthur.
"I don't know you guys, plus I don't want to get involved with anything that could put my life at risk, I don't care about your plans so it's up to you." Arthur then gets up and intends to go somewhere else but Jean's next sentence makes him stop.
"Didn't you feel guilty for Rolland??"
Jean and Arthur then gather at Roswell's house according to plan, others are delighted with Jean's arrival but Rolland snorts coldly when he sees the face of someone he hates beside Jean.
When Arthur saw Rolland his face changed slightly but he quickly hid his shock as if he had never recognized Rolland, whereas Rolland he kept on throwing his face the other way.
"I don't know if our plan will work but if the four of us don't come back until dawn, you guys should just keep going." Said Jean.
"Sister, let me help." Liam disagrees with Jean's orders.
"I am too." Olivia also felt Jean was carrying too few people.
"The two of you will only be a burden so think carefully, also you have the task of keeping the other from the zombies while waiting outside." Jean refuses, and she doesn't want to risk Olivia and Liam's safety.
Liam seems disappointed by Jean's decision while Olivia, she is a little angry when Jean calls the burden.
"You be careful." Abby wants to stop Jean, but she also doesn't intend to allow the behavior of the leader and base manager who committed cannibalism.
The atmosphere of the base had been quiet, many people had fallen asleep but there were also some people who were still wandering around robbing other refugees in the darkness.
The atmosphere of the building where the leader and the base manager lived was also a little quiet outside, but there was still laughter and applause from the base administrators who played gambling inside.
"Why does the clock seem so long." One of the front entrance guards complained and yawned.
"I guess they deliberately didn't want to make a change of guard, just look at it later." Other guards were also seen withstanding drowsiness.
Jean gives up the M50 masks often used by the military on Arthur, Jeff and Nielsen. The three of them looked confused, but they did not ask at all.
Jean threw something in the form of a canned drink at the two guards, the guard looked confused and picked up the can without feeling suspicious.
The can then emit a white gas, and slowly the consciousness of the two guards disappeared and fell on the ground.
Jeff and Nielsen are surprised by Jean's method, they never see an object that can make people faint in an instant.
Jean goes inside and the others follow, The people who saw Jean's group killed with knives before they could react.
Jean is surprised to see Arthur quickly kill the man, guessing that Arthur's ability lies in speed.
Jean then drags the body that Arthur killed, and Jeff opens the entrance to the gambling room by force.
"What are you guys doing?!?!" Guests in the gambling room were shocked to see Jean's group barging in.
Jean hurls the corpse recklessly at the gambling hall and falls on the pool table, the seductresses then run in fear at the sight of blood being splattered.
"Catch 'em!!" One of the people pointed towards Jean's group in annoyance.
Jean's group is besieged by ability users who are at levels 1 and 2, Jeff and Nielsen dealing with the people who surround them.
Arthur and Jean also clear the gambling room quickly leaving few people Jeff and Nielsen can handle.
"Hurry and tell the base leader!!" Seeing the number of managers who died easily in the hands of Jean and Arthur made one of the managers forced to report problems to the base leader.
Aras ran with all his might towards the third floor and opened the door without knocking first.
"Don't you know the rules for getting into this room?!!" A large man full of tattoos and surrounded by many women is seen disturbed by the arrival of Aras, the man is Farche the leader of the base. Some of Farche's subordinates who were in the same room were also staring at Aras unhappily.
"I'm sorry boss but this is urgent." Aras broke out in cold sweat and cursed his stupidity for entering without knocking on the door.
"You go and you if this news isn't as important as I thought it would be, then I'll throw this knife right in your head!" The women looked disappointed when chased away by Farche but they did not dare to complain and left after.
"B-boss there were four intruders coming, they came to kill all the managers in the gambling room." Aras knelt down and reported the news nervously.
"Are you kidding? The number of undertakers under was more than 20 people below and they couldn't defeat the four intruders?!"
Aras was terrified when he saw Farche's dangerous gaze, his body was trembling and his face was pale, rumors about the cold-blooded base leader turned out to be true.
"But that's right, Arthur also helped the intruder." Aras has resigned himself and is ready to be killed if Farche is not satisfied with the answer.
"Arthur??" Farche looks confused so Aras feels relieved because the pressure given by Farche disappears, but he returns nervous after hearing Farche's evil laughter.
"I had expected him to make a move, I originally intended to get him off the base tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, but it turned out that he was taking his life impatiently."
"Boss have you touched level 5?" Farche's other subordinates were shocked when they heard Farche had intended to kill Arthur.
"Good boss." Seeing Farche smiling arrogantly made Farche's subordinates understand that their boss had indeed entered level 5.
Jean's group has managed to kill everyone who is in the gambling room, Arthur looks very creepy with traces of blood that dirty his face and clothes, he said, this is because Arthur has the ability of speed so he must attack directly with a weapon in the form of a knife to kill.
"Let's check the other rooms, I think the base leader is hiding upstairs." Take Nielsen.
They then came out and intended to climb the stairs up, but their steps came to a halt as the person they were looking for had descended down.
Jean immediately recognized the people who descended, especially the base leader who was seen striking among the group.
"I haven't moved this body in a long time." Farche smiled evilly at Arthur.
"Jeff's? Nielsen's? What are you two doing? Did you two betray the base?!" One of Farche's subordinates recognized Jeff and Nielsen.
Jeff and Nielsen did not answer the question so Farche's subordinate Tobias was visibly angry with the attitude of the two of them.
"Boss I'll handle my two disobedient subordinates!" Tobias wants to beat up Jeff and Nielsen.
"Whatever."
Jean was not worried that Jeff and Nielsen would lose, as he saw the other party also being at level 3 which was on par with Jeff and Nielsen's level after being upgraded by Jean.
Jeff and Nielsen even more cruelly tortured Joseph and robbed Joseph of his wealth without feeling guilty, Jean instead witnessed how they laughed happily at the pile of crystal nuclei.
Jean then asks Raes how Raes easily subdued the two former prisoners.
"Boss, I conquered them with curry yesterday, isn't this great??" Raes smiles proudly and shows off his success to Jean.
John : "..."
Is it so easy to make a prisoner surrender? If so, then he should not bother to tickle the two former prisoners!
Nielsen came forward to face Tobias, Jeff faced both Farche subordinates who were also body strengthening type, Arthur and Jean faced Farche.
"Who is this? Is it a new entrant??" Farche notices Jean standing next to Arthur, not recognizing Jean.
"I came to avenge you and help you pay for your karma for cannibalism." Jean looked at Farche hatefully.
"Once again someone like you comes, then I will receive your revenge!" Farche belittles Jean, she then expels her abilities.
A strong wind surrounded the building and Jeff and Nielsen's fight was interrupted by the wind, Farche smiled proudly at his ability while looking at Arthur as if he was showing off his level rise.
Arthur's countenance became more serious, he dashed towards Farche at his own super speed, but Farche's wind slowed his movements so that Arthur's fist could be brushed off easily.
Farche slams Arthur's body against the wall until it cracks and Arthur bleeds from his mouth.
"This is what ability is!! The strong will rule!!" Farche laughed arrogantly.
Arthur quickly got up and wiped the blood coming out of his mouth, his own body strength was not inferior to the muscle strengthening ability that was at level 3.
Jean was still watching the battle casually, she even picked up the potato chips that were in the system room then chewed while watching the battle between Arthur and Farche.
"The wind was so strong, I felt like I was on the beach, I should have provided my beach chair in the system storage." Jean said with regret.
System : "..."
He felt Jean was too relaxed, not even taking Farche as a threat.
Arthur had been exhausted, Farche's wind ability greatly interfered with his speed ability, his attacks were repeatedly repelled by Farche.
Jeff and Nielsen were also in a bad position as the number of Farche's subordinates exceeded the amount they could handle.
"Is this your ability?!" Farche looked at Arthur with a look of disdain.
Arthur knelt down panting heavily, his strength almost running out.
Farche was about to attack Arthur but he was interrupted by a crisp sound that rang out in his ear, Jeff and Nielsen also stopped attacking when they heard the sound of chewing chips.
They all then turned to Jean who was chewing chips and out of nowhere got a chair.
"Why did you stop? Continue." Said Jean lazily.
Jeff and Nielsen stared stupidly at Jean, did Jean consider their fight to be an opera performance?
"You!!" Farche looked angry, she felt Jean was underestimating her.
Farche then attacks Jean with her wind ability, she no longer cares about Arthur.
"Revelation!!!" Nielsen was terrified when she saw the Farche wind shot that was aiming at Jean quickly.
When the shot almost hit Jean, Jean's figure suddenly disappeared so that the wind shot only hit the seat that bounced away and cracked due to the wind.
"Thrilling! Uncle, you seem to really want to kill me." Jean suddenly appeared beside Arthur while patting his chest.
Arthur looks surprised to see Jean who turns out to be faster than him, but he shakes his head weakly. If Jean only relied on speed skills, she was worried they wouldn't survive tonight.
Frache was a little surprised but he later downplayed Jean's ability which he thought was the same as Arthur's. "apparently Arthur's successor."
Farche then unleashes a force of wind that hits the entire building, Jeff and Nielsen are forced to stop fighting as they are interrupted by Farche's strong winds.
Arthur and Jean did not budge, they were both used to the strong winds of Farche.
"It sucks!"
Jean then directly struck Farche's body with a purple-colored lightning. One of Jean's five thunderbolts had turned into purple-coloured lightning after he touched level 6, where it was five times stronger than ordinary lightning.
The atmosphere was suddenly silent after Jean struck Farche with lightning.
Jeff and Nielsen were shocked to see Farche's charred body with wide eyes, as if not believing that he would be struck by lightning.
"Boss!!" Farche's subordinate was also startled and rushed towards Farche's body which had fallen to the floor.
"You? Are you double-capable?" Arthur looked at Jean in disbelief, only this time did Jean see Arthur's expression other than his flat face.
"I'm at level 6 right now, my ability is lightning, so it's only natural that I get speed skills, but not all abilities get bonuses like me." Jean explained everything.
Jean herself did not expect that she would easily kill people who were one level below her, but it seemed only natural that there was a quantitative leap after a user of the ability to touch level 6, after all, it was not uncommon for people to be stuck at level 5 for so many years.
"You killed him?!!" Tobias had checked Farche's breathing and heart rate. Farche's life instantly disappeared after Jean struck Farche with a single bolt of lightning.
"You take care of them, I'll pick up the refugees held in the basement."
Jean goes to see the refugees waiting patiently, they are repeatedly agitated because Jean does not come, they want to go out on their own but they also do not dare.

Jean comes out with the refugees she manages to save, as for Jeff, Nielsen and Arthur they have managed to kill all of Farche's subordinates, Jean has no intention of forgiving them at all.
When Jean exits the building, she sees a refugee who turns out to be late crowding the building with a curious face, they swarmed in curiosity as they had heard the commotion due to Farche's strong wind and Jean's lightning.
"Boss how is this?" Nielsen asked Jean. Nielsen was a little afraid that they would be blamed for killing the base leader.
"Let me handle everything." Arthur speaking.
Arthur then tells the truth about the leader of the base to the refugees, many refugees are a little distrustful of Arthur's words, but when they see the evidence and listen to the stories of the witnesses frightens them, they did not expect the former leader of the base to have the heart to kill a fellow human as food.
After that there was a debate among refugees to determine who the next leader of the base until finally Arthur who was appointed as the leader of the base, the leader of the base, Arthur wanted to refuse but he couldn't when he saw hope on the refugees' faces.
