In the evening Merril and Randalf finally returned with a lot of stuff.
"What are you carrying?" Jean asked while chewing on the sun seeds.
"This lady is a stock we have purchased, with this we are able to at least last for 3 months." Jean didn't forbid them from buying the supplies themselves so she didn't reject the supplies that Merril and Randalf had bought.
"Merrill why don't you take me too?" Linda felt bad for not buying supplies.
"No, this is more than enough. You've bought enough supplies for your parents." Merril does not want Linda to spend money on them, after all Linda still has parents who she will take care of later.
"Yes. Merril and Linda are also dating so there's no way Linda's aunt messed up their date." Merril and Randalf blushed due to Liam's speech. Linda ended up not being too depressed when she heard it was also a date for Merril and Randalf.
"What did Aunt Merrill buy?" Misael asked curiously, he did not dare to open the items stored in the cardboard box.

"Just calm down, I'll help auntie as much as possible." Linda just fell silent, she was afraid that Jean would be disappointed with her.
The next morning Jean dressed a little neatly in a plain white shirt with denim pants, although plain but one would be surprised by how much money was spent on a piece of her clothes.

A fat man in a black shirt who did not seem to fit his fat body was waiting in the courtyard.

"Call me with Mr. Dave." The man replied awkwardly.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Dave." Jean initially judged that the fat man must be a bastard but then changed his mind when the man replied awkwardly. 'He may be a sycophant', Jean thought. But at least not a basket-eyed guy. The system doubted Jean's judgment, so easily did Jean speculate badly with just one look?
"Would you like to take a look first?" Jean nodded in agreement, Dave then explained in detail every room in the house.
"How lady? Is the lady interested?" Dave is no longer awkward with Barker.
"Linda do you think this is good?" Jean throws the question at Linda.
"This lady is already very nice, so I'll stay wherever she chooses." Jean had expected Linda to answer that.
"All right, I'm gonna rent this house." Said Jean. Then the phone rings loudly.
"Sorry, wait a minute." Dave was actually about to turn off his phone that was ringing but when he saw who was calling, he immediately went to pick up the phone.
"Miss, the homeowner has one condition." Dave turned around after picking up the phone which turned out to be from the owner of this house.
"What's that?"
"But I didn't mean to offend you before so please don't get angry." Dave looked nervous.
"Speaking up, I won't be angry unless Mr. Dave insults my family." Jean said honestly.
"That's... Will the lady put up an iron wall in this house? If so, apologize because the homeowner won't give the miss permission." Dave looked carefully as if Jean was a queen.
"Ah it turned out to be. Of course not, but can I put barbed wire and sharp iron over the fence?" It was impossible for Jean to put up something similar in Linda's rental house, let alone that the anti-nuclear fortress had a price of 1000 red crystals.
"Let me ask first." Dave called the owner back.
"Miss, the homeowner agrees but the rental fee is minimal for 3 months." Said Dave.
"Alright, I'll transfer the rent." Dave then gives the owner's account number and Jean immediately pays.
"Thank you Miss Jean, then I'll leave." Dave then leaves the house key that Jean has held.
"Miss I'll try to return the rent that miss paid." Linda couldn't bear to hear the rent Jean had generously spent.
"No need, just work as a chef for life then I'll be happy." Jean still refuses Linda's offer to pay.
"But.. " Linda still doubts that being a chef for life is enough to pay off the forest of gratitude to Jean.
"No word but, just spend your money to decorate this house. Look at this house without furniture, don't forget to buy supplies for your parents later." Jean noticed that the house she had rented was not dusty, but the house had no furniture at all. He wanted to buy furniture but he was afraid Linda was getting depressed.
"All right, miss." Linda has given up on paying for the money Jean has spent.
"If your aunt doesn't want to go out then just order the furniture and supplies online. Have Randalf teach you how to use a cell phone." If it wasn't for the anti-nuclear wall, Jean probably wouldn't have chosen to look for supplies personally. He also wanted to see things around before the world changed. If only he could find the source of the virus, then he would not need to see this world in ruin.
'Can I change it?' Jean asked the system.
'No way. After all, this virus is not due to a laboratory leak.' Jean already knew the system said so but she didn't expect that the virus wasn't due to a lab leak!
'Then because of what?' in the novel not explained the cause of the apocalypse arrived, only the author explained that most people blame the laboratory and hate the researchers. So Jean thought that the disaster was due to a laboratory leak as told in other novel.
'This virus is an ancient virus that originated billions of years ago and was carried by meteors that hit the earth. The virus was previously non-threatening because it froze in Antarctica.' The system decides to tell Jean a secret that even the author doesn't know. Jean was very surprised by the system's explanation.
"Jean are you okay?" Jean is shocked by Linda's question.
"It's okay, it's just that I seem to have forgotten something important." Lying Jean.
"of course. I'll go back next door, auntie just ask Randalf to arrange this house." Jean wants to go home and interrogate the system.
"No need miss, I can arrange it myself." Linda refused, and Jean's help was enough.
"No need to bother bi. I'll call Randalf to help you." Jean immediately left without waiting for Linda who wanted to refuse once more.
Upon arriving at Jean's house, Randalf takes care of Linda's house, and goes straight to her room and locks the door. After that Jean entered her room uneasily as if she was about to choke the system.
"Is the system true what you said before?"
"of course. I'm not gonna lie." The system answered patiently.
"If so isn't this beyond the author's control? What will happen in the future?" Jean asked as she walked back and forth.
"Sir, just calm down. Humans are unique creations, they will be able to solve problems if they are cornered into urgent situations." The system answered casually. Jean finally relaxed, at least she got some reassurance from the system.
"Can you tell me what will happen after the author finishes his novel?" In the novel, it only revolves around the main character and does not discuss how humans handle the virus.
"No, that's beyond my authority!" The system refused firmly.
"Didn't you just tell me that's beyond the knowledge in the novel?" The system is silent and does not answer.
"A completely inconsistent system!" Jean cursed the system but the space was still silent as if only Jean was there. Jean then walked out of her room and went back to munching on a snack.
"Son't this teddy bear pretty?" Liam came and showed me a pink teddy bear.
"Does aunt Merril want to turn you into a beautiful man?" Jean decides to annoy Liam.
"What's that pretty boy?" Liam asked innocently.
"The pretty guy is... " Jean wanted to say that a beautiful man is a gay man but he didn't dare to say it.
"Sister?"
"Don't forget it! If anyone makes fun of you just ignore it." Jean decides not to tell Liam, just let him play the doll. He could not imagine that one day Liam would be under a man.
'Master stop your indecent thoughts' system reprimands Jean.
"I was unintentional. Blame Liam for playing the doll." Jean refutes. Jean went back to chewing her snacks. Jean also decided to enjoy her leisure life now.
...
The day Jean picks up her grandmother and grandfather then arrives. Jean chose to take Misael and Randalf with her.
"Grandmother, aren't all your things left behind?" When Jean came, he had been greeted by several suitcases lying in front of the mansion.
"Nothing, I've checked everything. Jean who is this?" Jean's grandmother asked when she saw a boy next to Jean.
"Grandmother introduced this boy named Misael, I adopted him on behalf of his mother and father. Mishael call grandma." Jean introduces Misael to her grandmother.
"grandmother." Mishael greeted Jean's grandmother politely.
"Welcome Misael to the Barkers." Jean's grandmother did not oppose Jean to adopt, after all she knew that Jean was lonely.
Then Jean's grandfather goes out with Lauren.
"Who is this?" Grandpa Jean also asked. Jean then explained it to her grandfather once more.
"Dad won't your legacy be less because of this adopted grandson?" Lauren asked unhappily.
"Lauren be polite! Mishael is my grandson, too." Jean's grandfather did not accept Lauren's complaint.
"You guys are so kind to me!" Lauren then left.
"Misael don't put it in your heart, your aunt is like that." Grandma Jean explained, Misael just nodded obediently.
"If there's nothing else then let's go." Randalf packed the luggage quickly into the trunk so that Jean soon set off back home.
"Jean why did you put up that wall?" Grandfather Jean asked when he saw the anti-nuclear fortress. Actually, he had known for a long time, but he decided to ask Jean directly.
"Recent grandfather recently I somehow felt very agitated, so I put up this iron wall." Jean's grandfather felt Jean's explanation was absurd, but he didn't ask any further.
Arriving home, Grandpa and Grandma Jean are greeted by Merril, Liam and Linda. Linda looked very awkward while Merril and Liam were relaxed as usual.
"Grandfather, grandma, this is Liam. I actually adopted two kids but I don't want to explain it in front of Lauren." Jean introduces Liam. Actually he was a little embarrassed to introduce Liam because Liam was reluctant to let go of the teddy bear.
"It's okay as long as you're happy Jean" Grandpa and Grandma Jean don't mind the addition of family members.
"Since now slip Barker's surname on their name." Said grandpa Jean. Liam and Mishael are officially joined by the Barker family.
During the day the atmosphere at Jean's house felt so lively. Liam and Misael are playing, Grandpa and Randalf are talking about things that only old men understand, while Merril, Linda and Grandma are cooking in the kitchen and talking about recipes.
"I won't be lonely." Think Jean.
"What system is the apocalypse really going to happen? I feel uncomfortable." Jean's mood has gotten worse recently, even if she's reluctant to get out of the house too often.
"Master has asked similar things many times." The system chooses not to answer questions.
"Will anyone get infected in my house?" Jean asked again.
"none. Even though there is no wall on the top of the fort, there is a transparent wall that prevents infection through air and water from entering it." System explained. Jean then went up to the third floor and picked up binoculars to watch the situation outside.
"It's a pity that this is coming to an end." Jean said as she watched the people passing by and chatted around her housing complex.
