33. Fugitives

"Is with you? Why so slow?" Jean immediately rebuked Raes.

Raes soon speeds up the journey nervously, inexplicably thinking Jean is more sinister than his former boss.

"I feel sorry for Raes, is he able to survive with brother John?" Davin expressed his concern.

"I'm actually more worried that Raes is turning out to be weird, but it's also a good chance to get close to Raes before he turns abnormal." Wenda.

"You're right, they're very difficult to approach. Didn't you just interact with Olivia? It seems that he is the most approachable person from among the brothers John and Liam." Anthony gave me advice.

"Do you want to sell us??" Nara and Wenda gave a ferocious look at Anthony.

"You just have to pretend to approach her, but you also avoid trying to keep Olivia from doing anything out of bounds." Anthony continues.

"Then you'll replace us!" Wenda scolds Anthony.

"You guys!!" Nara and Wenda immediately beat Anthony in the head.

"Why do I feel creepy? Is someone planning something bad for me?" Olivia immediately wrapped her body in a sweater.

"Sister Olivia still believes in myths?" Liam heard Olivia's question.

"There is nothing wrong with believing in myths." Answer Olivia.

"Then does the dragon really exist? I asked Grandma, she said dragons are mythical and not real but I want to keep dragons."

"..." - ".Olivia was confused, she did not know what to answer.

"Dragon does not exist, you will die killed first before being able to get close to the dragon if the dragon really exists." Jean helps Olivia.

"But I seem to see a dragon."

"Liam, bragging isn't good." Jean rebukes Liam.

"Sister, I actually saw a dragon up ahead." Liam pointed towards the front. Jean follows the direction pointed at by Liam, where a giant snake is killed and Jimmi looks tired.

"It's not a dragon, it's a snake." Jean fixed Liam's speech.

Jean then orders Raes to stop, and he walks over to Jimmi, who is lying down. Jimmi immediately got up, he was very wary of Jean's group.

"Is uncle okay?" Jean asked first.

"I'm fine." Jimmi is relieved to learn that Jean's group is not at all mean.

"Uncle did you kill this snake alone?" Liam approached Jimmi with a sparkling look as if he had found his idol.

"Yes, it's me who killed him." Jimmi replied in shame.

"Your uncle is lucky this time, because this mutant snake is only at level 1." Jean immediately learns that Jimmi is an ordinary person with no ability when he sees the rake comb that pierces the snake's mouth.

"Do you want to go that way?" Jimmi gets the idea to catch up with his wife.

"Yes. We're planning on going to the N city shelter base, do you want to follow us?" Jean is not at all stingy on Jimmi, seeing Jimmi's weak state makes Jean moved to help.

"Actually I was accidentally separated from my wife so I wanted to catch up, but I'm afraid my wife has driven all the way there." Jimmi tells her condition honestly.

"It's okay, it's too dangerous to go alone towards the city." Jean felt Jimmi was looking sad.

"Thank you, my name is Jimmi." Jimmi is really grateful for meeting Jean's group.

"No need to be polite, we go in the same direction. My name is John and this is Liam, Olivia and Raes. " Reply Jean politely while introducing her group.

"And this?" Jimmi looked at the five high school students who had been staring at him enviously.

"Here." Jean scratched her non-itchy head, she just remembered that she did not know the names of these five High School students at all. The five of them wanted to cry, Jean never even intended to ask their names.

"I'm Davin, and this is Nara, Wenda, Edwin and Anthony." Davin immediately introduced their group.

Jean feels a little guilty, she forgets the five high school students, she also does not know if they will hold a grudge later.

"Let's go continue the journey, Uncle Jimmi may already be very worried about the state of his wife." Jean said awkwardly.

They then resumed the journey with Jimmi as an extra person.

Jimmi continued to check the surrounding area anxiously, fearing that something would harm his wife. Jean is actually not too optimistic about the state of Jimmi's wife because they are constantly visited by zombies.

Toto diligently cleans up the zombies blocking the way so Jean doesn't have to intervene to help. Edwin shrunk his body between Nara and Wenda in the back seat, he did not dare to look outside that was filled with zombies running towards them.

"Sister.." Liam wants to tell Jimmi's wife that it's impossible to survive the zombie siege.

"Leave it." Jean orders Liam to be quiet and not to speak, Jimmi may find it difficult to accept the death of his wife.

Jimmi searches around in the car, but as a result he does not find his wife anywhere, he only finds traces of blood in the car.

"Shani-" Jimmi can't imagine what happened to his wife, he tries to dismiss the thought that his wife has died but he finally can't bear to cry, his wife may actually have left him.

They all felt the gloomy atmosphere experienced by Jimmi, only this time they saw someone who lost someone closest to him.

"All of a sudden I'm worried about my family back home." Wenda couldn't bear to not worry.

"I am too." Anthony felt the same way.

"I thank you for bringing me here, I'll stay here, so you guys just continue your journey." Jimmi said as he wiped his tears.

"Uncle I don't know how to comfort you, but I want to say that you should stay alive, your wife also definitely doesn't want you to catch up to her so soon." Jean advises Jimmi not to do anything Implusively.

"I'll try to listen to your advice." Jean doesn't mean to force Jimmi's decision, all decisions are naturally in Jimmi's own hands.

Jean continues on, the gloomy atmosphere still enveloping them, making them not dare to speak in the car, so only the sound of the engine and the roar of zombies are heard along the way.

A car from the opposite direction appears and seems to deliberately want to stop them. Jean frowned unhappily, her mood became very bad and wanted to immediately vent her emotions.

"Do you guys want to go to the base of N city?" A man got out of the car.

"Yes. Why are you blocking our way?" Jean prepares to kill the man if he means anything evil.

"You better not go there." The man commemorates Jean's group.

"Why should we hear your words? You seem to be hiding something."

"I've given you a warning, if you don't want to hear I won't force you to leave either." The man doesn't care about Jean's doubts.

"Wait on! You have to give us a reason why we shouldn't go there." The other party didn't seem to care about Jean's question.

An angry Jean finally ran towards the man, then dropped him to the ground and locked the man's arm.

"What are you doing?!!!" The man shouted furiously and groaned in pain. The vines suddenly appeared from underground and charged towards Jean.

Toto's eyes sparkled when he saw the fast-growing vines, but before Toto could get close to the vines, a bolt of lightning suddenly struck the ground and set the vines on fire.

Toto could only stare at the withered plants in disappointment.

"Weak." Comment Jean. He sensed that the other party had only touched level two, in the presence of Jean that level would be completely unable to hurt him at all.

"Take me off!" The man shouted in fear, he turned out to have unintentionally offended another ability user.

"I'll let you go if you answer the previous question."

"Okay, okay, I give up." The man knew that he would not be able to escape Jean's hands. Jean then releases the man, not worrying if the man runs away.

"I lived in a shelter with my wife, at first we lived comfortably there, but one day my wife suddenly disappeared without cause.

I've asked the base board, but they always say they don't handle trivia.

I did not give up at all, I tried to search various places until I found a big secret hidden by the shelter base. I found that not only I myself had lost but also the other refugees.

I along with other refugees searched for our missing family members, until we heard that the missing person might be related to the base leader, we then attempted to contact the base leader and ask for an explanation, he said, but the base leader killed us.

I managed to escape after facing the battle but I still don't know where my wife is right now." The man explained everything he knew.

"Then why do you want to hinder us?" Jean asked in wonder.

"I intend that the refugees in the shelter base do not continue to grow so that the refugees are aware that there is something strange. If refugees continue to grow, they will not be aware and assume the loss of people beside them is common. It doesn't cover the possibility that a family member was killed by a robbery, but it's too weird for a body not to be found at all." Answer the man.

"Do you know anything about the base leader?" Jean felt it was not as simple as she thought, this way their journey might not be smooth.

"I only learned that the base leader was the leader of the gangsters who controlled a portion of N city territory before the apocalypse, I also heard rumors that the leader had level 4 land abilities."

"Then you will be our guide." Before the man could resist, Jean had already forcibly pulled the man into the car.

"Are you guys stupid?? I may currently have become a fugitive at the shelter base!!" The man tried to escape, but Jean out of nowhere got a rope to tie the man's hands and feet, then used a cloth to smother the man's mouth.

Raes is getting lucky to give up so quickly, his condition could possibly be worse than that of the unknown man.
