32. An unexpected reunion

Jean was driving towards the rice barn located in the middle of the village, she heard an angry scream that seemed to be the voice of Madame Gill.

"Seeing you back made me guess something, the Barkers must be broke by now." Jean frowned, why is Miss Gill talking about her?

"You can insult me, but you have no right to insult Miss Jean!" Jean instantly recognized this voice, this was Linda's voice! She didn't expect to see Linda again here.

"Sister, that's Aunt Linda's voice isn't it?" Liam also recognized Linda's voice.

"Who is he?" Olivia wondered who Linda was.

"He was Jean's older sister's chef before." Answer Liam.

"We're going inside." The five high school students and Raes follow Jean.

"Who are you??" Other villagers were immediately on alert with the arrival of other foreign guests.

"I'm here looking for Abby and her family." Jean looked around and did not find Abby's family in the room.

"Who are y'all? Why are you looking for Abby?" Not trusting Jean, Jean looks mysterious and strange with her disguise.

"Uncle Juan, I'm looking for Abby's aunt to save her." Liam stands in front of Jean to be recognized by the villagers.

"Liam?" The villagers immediately recognized Liam even though Liam had changed a lot, his body was no longer thin and looked as fragile as it was while living in the residence of Madam Gill.

"You're late, Abby left two weeks ago when the Death Venom gang tried to take this place." Juan was relieved, at least Jean's group did not mean anything evil at all.

"Where did they go? Do you know the direction?" Ask Jean.

"I overheard that they were planning to go to J city to meet with the Barkers, but Raul was not so optimistic about the condition of the Barkers, so they chose to go join the shelter base." Juan doesn't know who is in front of him right now is Jean Barker.

"Thank you uncle."

"If I may know, is the woman inside Linda?" Jean actually wanted to go inside but she was afraid of being considered disrespectful by the locals.

"Yes, Mrs Gill is angry that Linda killed the Death Venom gang. Although the Death Venom is cruel but they are willing to keep us from zombie attacks outside, actually they are very good just the way they are wrong." Juan seemed to be somewhat siding with Death Venom.

Raes, who was behind Jean, was moved by Juan's remarks, but he also admitted that their leader was too greedy about food and distributed little to the villagers.

"How do you explain everything to the villagers? Are you able to protect us?!!" Madam Gill's shout sounded once more.

"Sorry, the atmosphere here is a little chaotic." Juan feels bad.

"It's okay. Can I go inside?" Jean didn't mind.

"Please." Juan then escorts Jean's group.

"Who are they? Do they want to cause trouble again?" Lady Gill glared at the incoming group of Jean.

"They were originally looking for Abby, but they also recognized Linda." Answer Juan.

"Oh-it looks like I saw a rat who ran away from my house." Madam Gill stared intently at Liam who was standing beside Jean.

"L-liams? How did you get here? How's Miss Jean doing?" Linda was surprised to see Liam who was here. Jean was so surprised, she barely recognized Linda, how could Linda change so much? Did he do a facelift?

"Sister Jean's fine." Answer Liam.

"At least he lied, otherwise how could Liam possibly wander around here? I didn't see Jean Barker in their group either, maybe he's dead." Madam Gill sneered. Jean really wanted to kill Lady Gill, how could Lady Gill say she was dead before him? Olivia coughed to hold back her laughter that was about to come out. Jean's face looks ugly under her mask.

"It is impolite to curse someone in front of his kinsmen." Jean immediately rebuked Gill.

"So you're a member of the Barker family?" Madam Gill was shocked.

"I'm Jean Barker's half-brother, John Barker." Jean had to lie. Linda feels weird, since when did Jean have a half-brother? But considering that he was more than 1 month away from Barker's house made Linda think that it might be true.

"Linda why don't you go back home? And where are your parents?" Jean wondered.

"I-I just want to keep Mr. Barker's legacy here." Linda replied with embarrassment, John may have heard of her from Jean.

"Jean must be happy if you're back in town J." Jean was disappointed to hear Linda's words, not that she felt that Misael's cooking was bad, but Linda's cooking had a characteristic that no one else could replicate.

"Mr John, I'm sorry to have disappointed Miss Jean, I can't go back to town J." Linda apologized sincerely, she really felt unworthy to return to J city.

"You have to compensate for killing the Death Venom gang members!" Madame Gill suddenly thought of the previous incident, if she could fool the Barker brothers then she would get a good thing like before.

"T-no! There's absolutely no need, after I thought we were too greedy." Raes quickly stopped Madam Gill, she was extremely afraid of the consequences she would face if Madam Gill asked for compensation.

"You're a member of the Death Venom?" Juan knows Raes.

"That doesn't make any sense! They must compensate! Look at you, aren't you angry?" Madam Gill noticed Raes who was wearing tattered clothes.

"There's absolutely no need, we admit wrong." Raes wanted to cry, how could he dare to ask for compensation in front of Jean?

"But" Mrs Gill wants to force Raes to ask for compensation.

"Miss Gill, I will replace Death Venom to protect the village." Say Linda.

"Are you able to look after us like Death Venom?!" Mrs Gill doesn't believe Linda's ability to protect the village.

"Mrs Gill, Linda is really strong, she even beat us all at once." Raes is once again helping Linda. Madam Gill did not know what to talk about anymore, Raes had made his plan fail.

"Linda I want to talk to you for a minute." Linda nodded in agreement.

Jean takes Linda to a quiet place and opens her disguise in front of Linda.

"Miss Jean??" Linda was so surprised, she did not expect that John was actually Jean!

"It's me, I'm planning" Before Jean continued her words Linda suddenly knelt down and cried.

"What's going on?" Jean panics, she doesn't understand why Linda is crying.

"Miss I'm sorry, I'm an ungrateful person." Linda banged her head against the ground, she deeply regretted her choice.

"No, you're not at all wrong, I understand your doubts, Let's get up." Jean tries to pull Linda to wake up, but Linda refuses and continues to kneel.

"If you're not well, I'll be angry." Jean had to threaten.

"I'm not angry at all, stop blaming yourself." Jean looked at Linda with a bitter expression.

"But-"

"No word but." Jean immediately cut off Linda's words.

"Then, were you abandoned by your parents?" Jean guess.

"Y-yes." Linda replied nervously and embarrassedly.

"Other times you don't have to obey your parents, they're not gods, what they say isn't always a good thing for you." Jean advised Linda. Linda just looked down embarrassed, she did not dare to look at Jean.

"Do you really not want to go back to the city of J?" Jean asked again. Linda shook her head.

"Take care of yourself, if you feel better, come to town J, we're always waiting for you there." Jean hugged Linda.

"Yes I'll come back if my guilt has lessened." Linda's crying broke again.

"Let's go." Jean goes back inside with Linda whose eyes are already swollen.

"What's going on?" Davin asked in a soft voice to his friends.

"Did John's brother torture that woman?" Nara also felt astonished and scared.

Jean gazes at the high school students, feeling they are talking bad about her.

"Brother John, what's wrong?" Nara asked awkwardly.

"Nothing." Jean no longer looked at them.

"It's really scary, we almost got caught." Anthony complained and they all agreed with what Anthony said.

"Raes are you good at driving?" Ask Jean.

"Y-yes I can." Raes doesn't know why Jean took the initiative to ask.

"Stop me driving."

"W-what?" Raes thinks he heard wrong.

"Place me driving, are you deaf?" Jean looked at Raes lazily, she did not know if Raes was useful to her. Should he regret it now?

Raes broke out in cold sweat as Jean looked at him, Jean's gaze was like a demonic look to her. He had already heard from that high school student, that Jean was terrible and her sword skills were excellent. Raes wants to ask a group of high school students for help, but they don't seem to be looking at him on purpose.

"Y-yes I'll drive." Raes had no other choice, he could only pray that Jean would not behead him with the sword that was on Jean's back.

Raes immediately replaced Jean driving, he was driving awkwardly as if he were in a driving test with a supervisor who assessed his driving skills from the side.

"Are you satisfied now?" Jimmi felt his wife had changed a lot.

"I suspect that you're actually in love with Linda." Shani looked at Jimmi with a suspicious look.

"Why are you turning around to blame me?! Aren't you ashamed of leaving Linda??" According to Jimmi, Shani is getting more and more unreasonable.

"You cheated! You'd rather protect her than me!" Jealousy appeared in Shani's heart.

"Shani you started to doubt my love, I always loved you, otherwise how could I dare to leave Linda for you?" Jimmi was very disappointed.

"Then why do you keep talking about that woman?!" Shani won't budge.

Jimmi and Shani continue to argue along the way, they don't even realize something is secretly lurking and following in their footsteps.

Jimmi's car inexplicably stopped, as if it was stuck in something underneath.

"What's wrong?" Ask Shani.

"We might get caught up." Jimmi replied, but Jimmi felt strange, the road they passed before seemed to have no holes or muddles at all.

"I'll check it out, you wait here." Shani nodded.

Jimmi gets out of the car and sees nothing that could get his car stuck.

"Snack." Jimmi Mumbled.

Shani gets tired of waiting in the car, she then picks up a comb and chooses to tidy up her hair while her husband checks outside. Shani then looks pale when she sees something that wants to devour her husband through the back glass.

"Jimmi behind you!!!" Shani immediately poked her head out the window and shouted.

Jimmi looked back and saw a giant mutant snake opening its mouth with a width of exactly 2 meters behind it! Jimmi quickly dodged the snake's mouth, its heartbeat was extremely fast as if its heart had almost slipped from its body.

"Shani get away from here!! I'll lure him away from the car!" Shani quickly moves into the steering chair and keeps the car away from the mutant snake's body.

Jimmi ran with all his might to avoid the snake that wanted to devour him. Shani broke out in a cold sweat, not believing that they would face any danger after leaving the village, had Linda not insisted on settling in the village, they might have easily killed the snake.

"Shani quickly stay away! I'll catch up with you in a minute!!" Jimmi urges Shani.

Shani inexplicably gets the idea to leave her husband, she later dismisses the idea but considering how her husband defends Linda makes her hate arise.

Shani looks at Jimmi who is struggling to avoid the snake, she starts to doubt her husband, does her husband really love her? If one day her husband betrays her, will she be able to live her life?

Shani makes the decision that she will leave her husband, her life is worth more than her love, after all her husband has betrayed her, she will not be depressed if she leaves her husband.

"Jimmi forgive me." Shani immediately drove in the opposite direction to leave her husband.

Jimmi is still unaware of the passing of his wife, he is still trying to find an idea to kill the mutant snake.

"Shani?!" Jimmi only realized that he was alone and no longer heard the sound of the car. Jimmi keeps calling Shani's name while avoiding the mutant snake, but he doesn't find Shani anywhere.

Jimmi tried to think positively that his wife did not leave him and his wife was currently having difficulties there, so he rushed to kill the snake with a comb-on rake in the rice field.

Shani herself is unlucky after leaving her husband, she is trapped by a horde of zombies that block her path and finally she dies horribly due to being surrounded by zombies.
