Towards Eternity

Towards Eternity
Ch 521's. Spatial Necklace (I)

Outside the Capital's gates.

Liu Ning's group managed to arrive right in the afternoon, according to their previous predictions.

As many were exhausted, they all decided to take a short break inside the forest near the capital to ease their stamina. They then formed a small group that was then tasked with checking the current state of the capital from a distance.

The group consisted of Li Min, Du Zhe, and four men aged three to forty years. They were all those who still had the manpower to move normally and were appointed by Liu Ning himself. The group was chaired by Li Min while Du Zhe voluntarily joined the group and obviously could not be rejected by Liu Ning or Li Min.

The six men then went to a small hill east of the capital, and climbed to the top of a tree high enough for them to be able to scout the entire capital. On top of the tree branch, Li Min took out a binocular-like object made of bamboo and makeshift materials from under his clothes and began reconnaissance.

His eyes quickly traced through the city and checked every movement that occurred within the city. His forehead then shriveled when he realized something strange and then started calling the other members and asking them to check the city like him, he felt that he was looking wrong at this moment. The other five people, including Du Zhe took out their binoculars and went to check.

Before long, the other members acted the same as Li Min and frantically mixed in astonishment, looking around for something in the city but unable to find it.

They all found the same thing had been lost from the capital, and it was the soldiers who were in charge of guarding the capital. Not a single one of them was seen inside the city, not even in the barracks buildings was a single soldier. This made the six people agitated, except for Du Zhe who was still silently observing something.

A while later, he removed the binoculars from his eyes and looked towards Li Min and the others, "Teacher has already arrived first, and killed all the soldiers in the capital."

Hearing Du Zhe's words, the other five members of the beggar instantly fell silent and gulped their saliva.

They had all seen how Weng Lou had valiantly finished off the soldiers in every town in the Slums. Supposedly, they were already no stranger to the situation where all the soldiers in the capital disappeared.

Du Zhe then continued his words, "Not only that, I've seen the palace gate and there's great damage there. The bodies of the soldiers were also scattered around him. Looks like my teacher actually took action earlier than us. Entering the current capital should be safe since the soldiers have died."

Li Min took a cold breath, what Du Zhe said was true. He had also seen the condition of the palace gate through his binoculars, and what he suggested also made sense. He thought for a moment before making his decision, "Alright Du Zhe, we do as you advise. Mr. Hero must've cleared it all up for us."

"Ah, no. You misunderstood. I gave no advice at all, but told him my thoughts. If you choose not to enter now, then I will go with the Black Ape Fighter to find my teacher," Du Zhe said without any emotion on his face.

He jumped down from the top of the tree and landed lightly on the ground. He quietly left them all, and returned to their campsite.

Seeing the figure of Du Zhe leaving all of them, Li Min and the others looked unhappy with the attitude of the boy. There were four other members besides Li Min. They clearly showed their displeasure to Li Min, but Li Min could only quietly hear them all.

He understood what Du Zhe was currently thinking. As a disciple, it was obvious for Du Zhe to worry about his teacher or just miss him. But his attitude, which seemed to be indifferent to the others, clearly made others offended.

"He's young, and his future is promising, compared to the rest of us, maybe his future will be more colorful later. But he hasn't seen all the characters in the world, I hope he doesn't develop too fast before his wings can really open wide," muttered Li Min then invited the other recon members to come back and report the situation they got about the capital.

***

A few hours ago, in an underground passageway in the palace.

The figure of Weng Lou chose to enter the hallway, and trace the stairs that led him to a giant door at a depth of 50 meters underground.

When he entered the hall, a strange relief that had been destroyed before, was now good again and closed the entrance to the hallway. Weng Lou paid no heed to her as he could make his way out again after checking out what was in this place.

At this moment, he was busy 'noticing the large door that became the end of the stairs that he descended. This door is made of a kind of hard rock that is not consumed by time.

Weng Lou watched the inscription sculptures on the big door. The writings tell about the war that seemed to take place in this Fanrong Empire on the stone door. From what he saw, Weng Lou learned that this Fanrong Empire was once not an empire like it used to be.

The Fanrong Empire was once part of a much larger Empire and controlled many other islands as large as Fanrong Island. Fanrong Island itself was controlled by a noble who managed it. This nobleman was part of the imperial family, and gained the privilege of not having to pay annual taxes to the Empire.

Once, there was a great war between the Empire that controlled Fanrong Island and many other islands with another empire that was as large as the empire.

The destruction of this empire was exploited by nobles who managed Fanrong Island and then created their own Empire. As a noble of the imperial family, this noble managed to take some precious treasures from the Empire's shattered storage space. And according to what is written on this great door, these treasures are behind this door.

"An Empire that has a very terrible size of territory. I wonder how someone could rule such an area alone" said Weng Lou curiously.

After making sure there was nothing she missed, Weng Lou opened the stone door and his physical strength. But then, his expression seemed surprised to realize the door was not open even though he used almost half of his physical strength.

Weng Lou's eyes blinked, and then a smile appeared on his face. A door that he could not even open with half of his physical strength, how precious was the treasure that was behind it?

Weng Lou could not hold back his fantasy any longer, and then gave more than half of his strength to his hands, and made the huge door shake until it could finally open and reveal the contents inside.

However, what was behind it made all the expectations of Weng Lou crumble. What was in the room was just an old, dusty silver chest.

Even the silver sparkle that should have been seen was nothing at all.

"Haaahhh...don't ever expect much Weng Lou.

The room behind the large door had an area of almost a thousand square meters, but the only content in the room was just a worn out chest that measured three times twice a meter and a half.

Weng Lou walked into the room, and approached the chest.

He saw the walls in the room which contained many other inscription sculptures that told the continuation of the story in front of the previous door. Weng Lou was too lazy to read it and hurriedly walked towards the chest in front of him.

Once there, Weng Lou could see that the chest had no safety at all and was not locked so without further ado it opened it.

*Krack.....*

The screeching sound of the rusted hinge could be heard and the chest opened revealing the contents inside.

In contrast to the condition of the outside of the chest, inside, there was a very clean red cloth with no dust at all. Weng Lou's hand moved and opened the package and looked at the contents.

A very clean and plain metal necklace and a neat dagger were in the package. Weng Lou seemed to have no interest at all in the gagged dagger, and immediately picked up the metal necklace inside the package.

His eyes shone as he stared at the necklace and a cold sensation could be felt from the necklace. He then flowed his Qi into the necklace, but nothing happened. His forehead shriveled, before then controlling his soul force onto the necklace and nothing happened like before.

"Is this really an ordinary plain necklace? But how can it be? I clearly feel something from this necklace....."

Weng Lou seemed to think for a moment before an idea flashed through his head.

"It should be impossible, but there's no stopping trying" he murmured.

His Qi and soul force then came out of his body and were jointly inserted into the necklace. Unexpectedly, a reaction emerged from the necklace.

The cold that only felt by Weng Lou when touching the necklace could suddenly be felt by the entire body of Weng Lou. A force of attraction was then created and pulled half of Weng Lou's consciousness into a dark room without end.

Weng Lou's mouth opened wide to see it, and the next second half of his consciousness returned as he stopped flowing his Qi and soul force into the necklace.

"I-This..this is a Spatial Necklace!"
